Sent my phone off due to getting a new upgrade, on the website i was offered £35.50 (dependent on quality of phone). The phone was in excellent condition, no scuffs, no marks, fully operationable. I sent it off to the freepost address with phone and charger (read the terms an conditions, tiny little bit about the charger need to be included or deduction from payment). I recieved confirmation they recieved phone after 2 days (great, i think its going well). I then recieve a cheque 10 days later for £0 (yup thats correct zero pounds). WTF, why even send the fricking cheque! I ring the number from an above post and no answer, i have emailed them regarding it asking to send my phone back and i will give it to a friend or charity rather then give it to them for nothing. Awaitin response to mail and see what their response is.

Updated 14/5/2010: I emailed the enquiries and they contacted me and said it was an admin error and that a new cheque is in the post. I recieved a cheque for £30.

Sent 2 phones on 07/01/10. One to cash4phone.co.uk who offered me £17.50 for my phone and got £8. And other to selloldphone.co.uk who offered me £18.50 but havent heard a thing and they are not answering my emails. I have read all the complaints re this site. ** TO ALL OF U OUT THERE YOU ARE ALL GETTING CONNED. IF U HAVE AN OLD PHONE TO SELL, EITHER STICK IT ON EBAY ( YOU GET PAYMENT BEFORE THEY GET PHONE) OR SELL IT TO SOMEONE U KNOW. OR EVEN BETTER GIVE IT TO A RELATIVE FOR £0. THE WORLD IS FULL OF CROOKS AND BY TRADING ON INTERNET U HAVE NO IDEA WHO THEY ARE AND U HAVE NO CHANCE IF THINGS GO WRONG.

Sent them a working phone, they responded saying it was beyond repair and wouldn't give me anything for it, when I asked to return it, they wanted me to pay about £20 to have it returned! I refused to pay that much to have MY phone returned, (I did offer to pay postage) I still haven't had it back or had any money! DO NOT USE THIS SITE... I had a brilliant service from environfone with another non working phone so will in future stick to them!

I sent like 8 nokia n95 8gb phones to them, the listing price on the site was like 900+ pounds, however after a few days, i received a letter and a cheque of 500 ish pounds, they claim some phones got scratches on the some have other problems, blah blah blah. I never thought it would happen as I have used other mobile recycling site before and they always send me the listed amount of money back.

I then send an e-mail saying m not happy with the service and would have my phone back so I can use other site to get the cash, they then saying under the terms and conditions, I can't get the phones back once I submitted them. I have read through the terms and there haven't got a single line saying that rubbish, but hey do mention they can return the phones back to the sender with 15 pounds admin charge.

I get back to them later mentioning that line, I also state that other phone recycling site will always issue the listed amount on their site to me, why can't they do that? They then saying they will issue me the full amount.

Oh well, I get that amount of money at the end, but this is just the worst phone recycling site out there, I would never ever use them again.

Sent three mobiles off and expected to receive the stated prices. All three were downgraded due to no charger being sent! They never asked for it! I still have them! Ahh but look hard, look really hard and you will find the terms and conditions that state "send charger" why not put this on the order page? I know... because then they can give you less money as they don't need the charger anyway!
One of the phones was a nokia n95 8gb that i used for two years and sent off after getting a new mobile, there was nothing wrong with it - trust me! Oh no say the rip off b*stards it has faulty lcd lines accross the screen so thats another £50 less we will give you. They have no phone number so can't call to complain as and when they do, if they do get back to you after using the contact page they say they can send the phones back for a £15 admin fee.
I am so ANGRY!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AND SPREAD THE WORD, TRADING STANDARDS ARE AWARE AND SO ARE WATCHDOG.

Pretty much a legalised scam! AVIOD AVOID AVOID!
I went onto a mobile phone recyling price comparison site and Greener Tomorrow (who also trade under the name of selloldphone.co.uk) came up with the best price (£42).
I sent off my fully functioning and excellent condition phone to them only to receive a cheque a week or so later stating that the screen was scratched and only recieved £29.
The screen was certainly NOT scratched. I contacted them and they were not interested in the slightest, they were completely covered in their terms and conditions "small print".
My story is quite a favourable one compared to some I have read about this site/company.
AVOID - AVOID - AVOID - AVOID!

I recently sent my samsung u900 soul to selloldphone.co.uk, they offered me £28.10 for the phone. But when the cheque arrived it was for £5.00 and the letter said that the phone was water damaged. THIS IS A LIE! I WAS USING THAT PHONE JUST A FEW DAYS BEFORE. THE ONLY REASON I SENT IT WAS BECAUSE I HAD MY YEARLY UPGRADE FROM MY PHONE PROVIDER.
I SENT THE PHONE IN A WATERPROOF ENVELOPE AND THEN PLACED THE ENVELOPE INTO A BOX, SO THERE IS NO WAY THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN WATER DAMAGED IN TRANSIT! THEY ARE CON ARTISTS! I HAVE CONTACTED WATCHDOG ABOUT THIS COMPANY! I AM SOOOO ANGRY!

WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER TO GET JUSTICE. GO ONTO THE WATCHDOG WEBSITE AND WRITE YOUR STORY! THE MORE OF US THAT WRITE THE MORE LIKELY OUR VOICES WILL BE HEARD!

I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS MISJUSTICE FROM WWW.SELLOLDPHONE.CO.UK

DO NOT USE
March 15, 2010

DO NOT USE - SCAM ARTISTS!

I sent them my Sony Ericcson at the end of January, stupidly because they offered £5 more for it than other sites. After waiting for six weeks and my Order Status not changing, I emailed them to ask what was happening. In fact, they didn't reply to my first email but replied very quickly when I emailed a second time threatening to contact Watchdog and Trading Standards! They claimed that they'd never received my phone, but told me that as it was sent using their Freepost service I could contact Royal Mail who apparently track all Freepost packages and refund me the cost of the lost phone. Two emails and several attempts to contact Royal Mail later, I discovered that the info SellOldPhone gave me was cr*p... in fact, they are just billed monthly for their total Freepost costs, and as they are the 'customer' with this service, THEY are the only ones who can claim for lost parcels. Several emails later explaining this during which they still maintained I had to claim to Royal Mail, and now they say (eventually, are several chase emails) that their Terms & Conditions state that it's my responsibility to ensure the phone arrives with them safely. As the phone was only worth £35 to them and I've NEVER had any problems using online recycling companies before (namely Mopay.co.uk), I'd trusted SellOldPhone would be ok, but in future I will definitely use Mopay.

Stay away from SellOldPhone. Please!
