Received my new table pad yesterday and was not very impressed. First I must say that it was packaged well and survived the shipment intact. I was pretty disappointed with the plastic leaf locks that I paid extra for. My opinion is they will not last very long before breaking off, They are pretty flimsy. The seams where the pads and leaf meet are not very tight (I have another table pad more than 5 years old that I use for my dining room table that has magnetic catches and the seams are perfect) I am happy that this pad is not a replacement for that one or I would not be very happy after spending $300. Fortunately that is not the use I bought it for and it will do.
The purpose of my purchase was to make a custom poker table top for my dining room table and in so doing it was necessary to cut out the top in order to install poker chip trays. In doing so I discovered probably the most important failure in this pad which is advertised (and pictured on their site) as having an aluminum heat shield to protect your table from heat. That advertising, in my case, was false. After cutting out 10 holes in various places in this pad there was no aluminum anywhere in the top. As I said, I am using this pad for a different purpose, but I am certainly disappointed in the quality, or lack thereof, in this pad if I had bought it assuming that my table was securely protected as advertised.
Although the pad will suit my purpose just fine I thought you should know that for $300 I would not recommend this pad to anyone else. I am enclosing pictures which should help explain my points and also a picture of my final use of the pad. They should be more careful in their advertising or adjust their prices to reflect a cheaper product.
