Like sephora store for their interior design and convenience but some brands are majorly overpriced here

Sephora location at MacArthur mall Chesapeake, Va. Have shopped at various Sephoras, even for men and women products. I purchased a liquid makeup product in August of 2018. I don't wear a lot of makeup I am 71 year old. I notice the makeup bottle was very lightweight in when i finally used it. I could look in the bottle and see that it was about half full. I was shocked and thought that some could've been used as a sample. About two weeks later when I was in the mall at the Sephora store just to pass on that info., I spoke with a representative and explained the issue ( did not have the product with me at the time). After listening to the representative I felt absolutely humiliated. The representative continue to ask me if I was in a hot climate it could have dried out there. My mind was saying "what" type of explaination is that? So in essence, is your Sephora rep saying that I can't travel to Las Vegas, Miami Florida or areas in the Caribbean Islands with your make up. She was talking to me as a child being scolded by a schoolmaster. I couldnt beleive what I was hearing. That was the worst clarification I've ever heard from a sales person. Limited quantity in my bottle had nothing to do with where I could've travel even though I did not go to a hot weather state. I felt dumbfounded listening to things that she was saying out of her mouth. I would no longer shop at that location. Some of these young representatives need more block of instructions when dealing with customer care. I am retired military I am retired from the Department of Defense and I am still employed. $23 it's not going to break me I was not in the store to take from Sephora, I needed to be satisfied, if even being in accordance with a reasonable and mature conversation and was not.

On 10/10/20 went to Sephora locates at the mall of the World Trade Center. I love Sephora and their services, never had any problems, until yesterday.
I got some perfume and went to hair products area to get dry shampoo which I use quiet often.
I have noticed a new brand of a dry shampoo,
So I looked up the ingredients and spray in the air a bit to check it scent. Right away young guy came around and told me to put the product down, explaining that I can't touch or spray it.
I replayed: can you spray it for me? They employee said NO! Then informed me that Sephora only allowed to testers spray in the perfume area
My next question was how I can buy something if I can't read ingredients or smell it? Then I continued: so I have to buy your product go outside of Sephora doors, spray it and if I do t like I have to go back and return? And do it over and over again until I find the right product? The employee said: YES!
Of course I reply this is insanity and bull $#*! policy!
In any food store, any drug store you can touch products and read Ingredients! The employee got angry with me for no reason. Told me that he is the manger and I have to stop cursing at him. I asked what did I say to you, he replayed BS word
I told him BS is not cursing and I did not curse at him but your policy definitely BS!
The next was something. This employee told me to leave the store and called on me security.
I told him that I'm medical care provider and
I was working all covid lockdown without break
And instead 10% discount promised medical personnel i was asked to leave the store and called security on for no reason at all!
By the was this so called manger told me he does not care if I'm medical care provided or work during lockdown
When he told me that I was ready to burst in tears.
Terrible experience just heart breaking.
Called customer service I hope they will resolve this matter
I need no money, no gift s no discounts
I just want normal loving humans work in customer services

I used to spend a lot of money at sephora because yes, they do have very good products and a good setup, but twice I have had a problem with the employees. The first, I asked a lady to help show me how to use a certain type of foundation, and she wouldn't stop glaring at me, like she couldn't believe she was having to help me and it made me feel the I was doing something wrong. The second was the time that pushed me over the edge and I WILL NEVER go back to sephora because of it. I was about to get an eye cream when I realized it was over my price range and I put it on a shelf somewhere and started walking out and got stopped by a woman who accused me of stealing it. I let her search my bag and she still wouldn't let me leave! I started crying because I was clearly innocent and she threatened to call the police if I kept crying! I ran out and I will never go back. THESE EMPLOYEES ARE RUDE, SELFISH, AND PARANOID AND I ADVISE TO TO ONLY ORDER ONLINE UNLESS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE SCARRED FOREVER!

So I was all excited for a very expensive item to be being offered as a pre sale for VIB Customers. I was on it... ordered that plus a lot of other items to fill my online basket. The order is placed my card is charged.

Then I get an email (after my card has been charged) that oh oh... out of stock. So that item was removed from the order.

I call to cancel the order. I am assured that it will be canceled.

Then another email comes to tell me it is shipping. I call again to make certain it gets canceled.

I am promised again it will be canceled.

Then guess what... again I see an email that the package is almost here.

I call and explain it was canceled. I am told they would call the shipper and have it redirected back to Sephora and I would get my money back.

You guessed it ALL LIES. The package arrives.

I call explaining the whole issue. Box in hand unopened and am told by Sephora Customer service that I can take the box to a Sephora store and they will give me my money back and take the products I do not want back.

In the store they explain they need to open the box. Ok so they open the box and see that all the contents are there then tell me that the can't give me credit because I used PayPal and now the box is open.

This has been the WORST experience EVERY so spoke to 4 people all who were supposed to cancel the order. The order came anyhow... then i am told take it to a store... and the store gives me this lame excuse about PayPal and the can't give me credit so I am STUCK with an order I did not want... social media here I come to tell all my friends and their friends that all Sephora cares about is saving the sale and they do not care about the customer. ARE YOU KIDDING ME

Sephora is my favorite site/store for makeup, hair and all things beauty. Sign up for there loyalty rewards because it's sooo worth it. You get to choose your birthday gift each year and through our the year with the points from your purchases you get more gifts. And another bonus you get two free samples with every purchase and they have the best shipping possible. FREE! And something I have to mention that I am so happy and thankful for I recently ordered from Sephora and I thought that my package was stolen, come to find out they make sure that my package went back to fedex when I wasn't home to receive my package. So it wouldn't get stolen and I was very appreciative about that. They also have the option where you can have it shipped to a local store mine would be Walgreens and pick it up there. (It's not free, but at least you know your getting your package)
Sephora has an online community where you can ask questions to beauty expert's and people just like you, with your skin tone or hair or concerns.
Their site has the option to favorite items so you don't have to search and search again for items you want. Speaking about there products, survey thing I like about Sephora is their clean sustainable brands that make sure they go that extra mile to keep the planet green.
Oh and I forgot to mention, there samples aren't $#*!ty. I've discovered soooo many top of the line skincare items with there samples. And if you're in the mood for sampling things Sephora has these little pockets called Sephora favorites that come with five or six of the best selling items for like 8 or $10 that way you can see which ones you like and they give a 15% off coupon for full size items.
I love Sephora and if you're looking for perfume, hair care, makeup, or anything beauty stop by Sephora first.
I highly recommend.

Since Sephora is a conglomerate of various beauty brands ranging from their own brand, Urban Decay to Dior the value and quality range depending. In general their website is easy to use and keeps track of inventory very well! Literally things have gone out of stock 5 mins after I placed them in chart and go to checkout. I find they have random sudden discounts on things that may or may not be advertised to Rouge members but if you have time to troll their website daily you may stumble on some good discounts. They ship via ground UPS which I like better than Surepost, which is free over $50 or only about $5-ish under that - so very reasonable. Things are packaged well, I've never received anything broken or leaky (though others have mentioned that but have gotten replacements). Sephora has a rather generous return policy that I've used sparingly, but you can return in store or by mail. They only accept credit cards however, not PayPal. As a bit of a fragrance snob, I find their product listing lacking compared to some other sites but for mainstream and select niche ones it's good enough and if you wait for their 15% or 20% sale, you can get authentic fragrances at a slight discount (along with any other product - that $40 lipstick you've been eyeing, for example).

*Recently before the time of my review, their website had down time at the time of their 20% coupon sale and black friday due to excessive access - which means if you go to their page, you'll see a "we're down..." blurb and then the instructions tell you not to refresh because they will check every 60 seconds. In essence it's a queue and you'll be let in if you leave the site up. Understandably, retail sites have down time and unexpected traffic - however I've seen reports of customers having their accounts locked for refreshing too much which I find shady. Also, it's frustrating for some who look up products a while in advance in order to make their 20% off sale once a year only to be unable to access, be locked out and later find out everything is sold out they've wanted. Yes, it's not a big deal - it's "only" make-up but there is time invested and it's the responsibility of companies to keep track of this and add more resources at holiday times. I'm sure other online retailers face this, and have found ways to mitigate down time.

I received this sample of foundation complimentary. This foundation is light and airy on the face. It sinks into every fine line or wrinkle you may have. After applying the foundation it doesn't make your face look as if the foundation was caked on like some other foundations tend to do. I had no break outs of acne like some other foundations tend to do to my face. It's extremely easy to wash off at the end of my day. I just love my color. It's extremely close to my natural color. I can build up the foundation and it still feels light and my skin still feels like I haven't applied a large amount of it. It helps even out my dull and uneven skin tones. Perfect cover up for blemishes. Applying makeup after the foundation isn't an issue. I can wear this all day without having to worry that I may have to touch up my face and add more. I have noticed it actually hydrates my skin. The foundation also plumps up my skin after applying it adding a younger look to my face reducing the signs of my fatigue and stress to my aging skin. I also appreciate that this foundation is vegan and non-comedogenic so it doesn't block my pores. The bottle has a generous amount of foundation and the pricing is very fair for the quality. I also appreciate that SEPHORA believes in helping the environment by making the full size bottle with 30% recycled glass. I recommend if your a foundation user to at least give it a try once.

I have purchased orders previously with Sephora with little issue. However, recently I had the issue of getting an error message when trying to place an order. Their system rejected my billing address because it "did not match what the bank lists". I tried retyping the address with a variety of changes, apartment versus apt, or spelling out street instead of st (I don't see how any of these things could effect it). I finally gave up and decided to go to the closest store in person. However, when checking my bank account the next day I noticed I had $400 "missing". While the transactions did not go through, and were never confirmed, they still placed a hold for the amount with my bank for each time I placed the order (4 times). This means I can't use this money for anything else until they clear up the issue.

I emailed them a complaint and have not heard anything back. I waited two days and called them and they said the error was caused by my billing address not matching and the only way I can order in the future is to call my bank and verify I have the address exactly the same (which is literally impossible to fix since it was already typed in right). But in the meantime they can't change anything immediately, but that the process takes 1-7 days to go away. I called my bank and they said since it is not a real transaction, they can not dispute it. So either I wait 7 days for Sephora to delete the pending charges or for them to run all four transactions, then dispute them through my bank. Either way I have to wait for Sephora to get off their butts to cancel the orders.

Anyways, I'm sure it will get fixed, at least from my bank's end once they finish the transaction. I just wanted to warn that whatever billing system they are currently using to run verification on addresses is acting up and rejecting addresses. I don't know if it is an issue of it auto-correcting zip codes to what it thinks they should be or what, but it fails to recognize addresses that other websites are finding valid. This is also an issue because it never once confirmed a purchase, but it effected my bank by showing up pending transactions. $400 is a lot to suddenly have tied up unexpectedly. So all I can really do is warn that their site might very well reject your address if it finds a minor "error" with how you typed the address, and if it does, absolutely do not try to re-enter it, as it will charge you for each attempted purchase. It is not worth trying to switch minor spellings, as it will always come up wrong.

Sephora is just getting ridiculous to say the least! I shop at their store in our local mall & 9 times out if ten they are totally out of what I regularly buy or it has been discontinued permanently! They say I would be notified if my favorites would be discontinued but they never do, so I leave there very disappointed more than I can remember! Their stores in JC Penny are the worst! They too are usually out of what I want or they don't even have it & tell me there is not enough room in the JCP shop so they don't carry much! I never ever return items I gave ordered on-line by mail! I always return it at one if their stores so I have proof if everything! I always print out a copy of my on-line orders & I always save receipts. They only give you 30 days for returns & you must keep the packages or they give you a hard time! I'm never ordering on-line again! My orders are always $50.00 or over so I get free shipping! Which is a joke! You get it with in 3 days but that's after waiting a week or more till they decide to send it! I have never received my entire order when ordering on-line, ever! They are always out of one or two of the things I have ordered & they don't tell you until they have already shipped what's left of your order so you have no recourse or chance to add something else to the order! Then you can't track your order! They give you a tracking number but you can't get any info on it until they get your package to the UPS store for shipping! Which can take longer than it does to get the order! Sometimes the order comes before they say it's even been sent! They need to get together on their poor shipping & improve this bad situation! I have never received any of the 3 free samples that I choose when placing an order! Never! I choose 3 I really want to try & I get "their choices" because they are perpetually out of samples & I end up throwing them away because they send nothing I can use or it's so hidiuos I won't use it! I have complained so many times about their company running out of products so frequently & never getting the samples I ordered but they always say it out of their control! Now a days with computers it's very easy to count down merchandise so customers know it's out if stock & would be able to buy or choose something else instead of total disappointment all the time! No one should ever show a "store salesperson" their Passport for any reason what so ever but I have heard this place will ask fir this personal info on returns! They ever do this to me it will be the very last time I ever shop with Sephora! I'm so fed up with them as it is, I'm considering shopping else where & I will never ever shop on-line with them again!
