I ordered two pairs of woman's gloves, king bed sheets, and two infant outfits on 12/12/23 I received a email that it was shipped the same day and I received the order on 1/6/24. Every thing is in perfect condition. Sierra may have had problems in the past, but they must have fixed them.
I have spent more then 20,000 dollars over the years at stp. It was one stop shopping for outdoor gear for my family of 5 (hiking / skiing/ camping / beach) and for all my business attire also. No longer. Terrible selection. Terrible shipping rates. Terrible customer service. Can't see how this place will cont to stay in business when all your best customers are leaving. It's sad to see a family business that had such a loyal following be completely gutted by its new corporate owners.
Have been a loyal customer since the 80s and have recommended the site to many people who have been complaining to me of late about bad experiences and not finding much to buy, prices being high, few bargains, lousy packaging so things arrive broken, etc. Then, I, too, began experiencing this. I don't buy much from STP anymore because it's only about one in four items that work out for me and it doesn't pay to send anything back. Best to donate it to Goodwill. Sorry, STP, you were fun while it lasted.
I've been in the outdoor industry for over 20 years and have always been a huge fan of Sierra trading post for quality name brand outdoor gear at affordable prices. However, it seems that every time I enter one of their stores not only is there less and less outdoor gear and more and more candles, catch phrase signs for your house, and dog beds, but there are no longer any of the quality name brand products! Last week I was in Ft Collins and this week Salt Lake City and in both cases I could not find anything worth buying. I ended up having to go to REI and make my purchase. The tents they now sell, I can get at TJ Maxx or Walmart, so obviously they have the same buyers. I've never seen such a rapid deterioration of the quality of a store that I have for so long gone to anytime I needed new gear. Unless something drastic changes with their current buyer or corporate strategies, I'm sure I will ever return to their store again. So sad!
Over 20 years ago I bought some wicking long johns and an undershirt from Sierra. They are still going strong. 6 months ago I bought myself a small backpack and some trekking poles. I do a lot of hiking, as I blog about local hiking trails. Both items were extremely reasonably priced and I love them. My husband bought himself a lightweight warm vest and he lives in it. It has been washed many times and still looks good. Currently, I am looking to upgrade my xcountry ski gear and my snow shoes, I will be stopping in Sierra shortly.
The variety of brands has dropped horrendously. I shopped for 10 years from STP as well, and I read the other reviews it is obvious I am not the only one is morosely disappointed. My best online store down the toilet.
I needed a pair of shoes in this package for a mini vacation, so I ordered early. I went on my trip, returned and I still don't have the package! I will not need suede shoes to wear this spring or summer when FedEx finally delivers.
The real problem is FedEx, yet Sierra customer service didn't want to hear it. My package has been on their truck locally for four days and gets returned daily to their hub that's located 10 minutes from my house. A 'kid' supervisor called this morning to ask directions to my address. Proves they have my phone number, yet the driver did not try to reach me when he/she was unable to locate my house. They list reasons for non-delivery as no such address or customer provided wrong address. Yay, maybe I won't have to pay taxes my 33rd year living here.
I have to wonder how Sierra Trading is able to stay in business when so many reviews give them one star rating... just like mine.
Tip for consumers:
If I had known they were using FedEx, I would not have placed my order.

Like most all the others, I "WAS" a 20+year customer. I lived in Reno and loved going in the store, there were deals everywhere on a huge variety of items, from clothes for the board room to bikes and canoes. I moved and was an online customer spending $1,000's every year and STP would send me free stuff and magazine subscriptions. Until the last year or so. I was just looking on their website to get some dress pants, there used to be a giant selection to pick from, today there was 1 - no kidding. I did order some socks because that is all that is left, everything else is the same lame products you see everywhere and the deals are not there anymore.
My opinion is - some overpaid corporate A-Hole CEO know-it-all destroyed the best store in America!
I'll be unsubscribing to the emails and finding somewhere else to spend my $1000's.
We live on a remote island in WA state and have bought everything from kayaks to cooking pans from STP. We've spent thousands of dollars through the years at STP. We did not realize what had happened to the company (i. E. T. J. Max taking over). We have just not been buying anything from them lately and realized that the deals just weren't showing up like before. Really sad to hear they're just another big business not taking care of the customer. Big bummer. We won't be ordering from STP anymore.
Hey all, I just recently made an order, no word on shipping after a 8 days so I called. Order was canceled because their system won't allow them to lose money on the shipping costs... I live in Hawaii, so it was probably a little more for them haha.
Anyways, I discovered if you choose the cheapest shipping option, generally they should ship your order. I tried again and it shipped within hours. Hope that helps.
Tip for consumers:
Get the cheapest shipping option or they might boot your order. Slow and steady wins the race lol.

Don't buy from this company unless you want to wait 3 weeks for your order. Before my purchase the sight stated 4-5 days for delivery. I called customer service after 3 days no tracking number. I was told that it is preparing to ship now. Well 3 days later I get a tracking number. New updated delivery is 6 days. WTF... I should have gotten the shoes from Amazon and paid the extra $25. I will not do business with them again.
I WAS a loyal customer of STP for years, as in 19 years. This past year, I have done nothing but waste time checking their website, buying things and returning most of my purchases. I have a credit that I have been carrying for a good six months. I'm just going to let it go and call it quits with this company. Before selling out to TJMaxx this was the ultimate site for excellent clothing (including several European lines) at fabulous prices. Just sick to see this site slide to the bottom.
Like so many of STP's loyal customers I bought lots of great stuff here over the years at fantastic prices. The STP of old passed generous savings on to their customers, a veritable Robin Hood of the internet outdoor retailers. Now the discounts (and the products) are rapidly disappearing. TJ Maxx has crippled what was once a wonderful company, no doubt to eliminate the need to compete with an ethical and generous company that valued its customers more than it did excessive profits.
Placed an order and got a notification that it was processing. After several days of waiting, I checked with customer service to see when I would get shipment information. They told me that my order was cancelled, with NO notification to me, because of billing address verification with the bank ( which I have never had an issue with before). The charge was still pending on my account, so when I tried to ask and make sure they weren't going to charge me, the customer service rep Mary got incredibly rude and abruptly end our conversation, rather then answer any of the questions I was asking.
Like so many of the other reviewers, I spent many thousands of dollars at STP over the years: Lots of running shoes, hiking boots, slippers, Winter and outdoor clothing, home goods, bike equipment, clothing accessories, (dozen after dozen of socks and underwear) knives, kitchen ware, you name it! We'd take a chance on untested products or brands, and generally found them to our liking, but never worried because of the great return policy and pricing. Now I find equal or better policies and pricing at REI, local retail, or Amazon. We haven't any use for the new STP. They've killed a good thing.
A DREAM ONLINE SELLER. Wonderful service. I ordered around 10 sweaters, shoes, and other things from this US site to Europe. Everything got processed promptly and all my emails were answered very fast and professionally. The goods arrived in due time, about 10 days. Returns couldn't have been simpler: pack all up, add explanation of returns and ship away. My Credit Card was was almost immediately refunded when they received the returns. Can't ask for anything else. Wish all would have this level of service. Thank you!
Their offers by mail can be excellent. Problem is sorting through them and finding the best item. Their emails are constant and you have to sign up for them to get the best prices. Horrible place to get shoes. I've lost so much money just trying shoes I thought would work. They have a very nice brand called Naot which they sometimes have some great deals on. Sometimes prices can be ok, but better items can be found on the Rei outlet online.
Tip for consumers:
Hit and miss site. Use carefully.
Ordered a few factory seconds from them that are listed to have SMALL cosmetic or stitching blemishes. 3 out of 6 items had large holes that had been restitched. Plus large cosmetic damages. Garbage quality. I have ordered factory seconds from another online retailer before and they were not full of holes.

I ordered a pair of Bearpaw women's boots BEFORE reading all the reviews. The price was amazing and they had the color and size I wanted. After I ordered them I saw all the horrible, negative reviews and honestly didn't even expect to get the boots. Well they came today. They are the real deal, not knock offs and were packaged the way Bearpaw always packs them. I have been buying this brand for a LONG time. All in all it took 9 days to get them but I expected that after reading what everyone else had to say. Based on this experience I would definitely order from them again. Just wanted to put a positive review to let others that are new to Sierra Trading Post like I am, that not all experiences are bad. Ended up saving about 40.00 on the boots too. So I'm happy!
I have been a fan of Sierra for a while... I have had reasonably good luck with products. I have had a few instances of sole of shoes not being assembled or glued properly... they have always respon def and resolved my concerns... no matter how old products were. I bought a pair of HI tec ladies hiking boots for my girlfriend used less than a dozen times over the years. The cleats attached to sole of shoe just started peeling off. The shoes look like almost new. I contacted STP as I have when I had issue prior to this and was told they could do nothing. Their return policy has changed. So unless you are going to wear something within 90 days of purchase, day I and day out...
Be aware they will not accept a return even if clearly defective. I will have to look elsewhere to find similar products with a better policy for defective items.
Late last summer I purchased a beautiful nightgown from the Sierra Trading Post.
It was originally $65. The item was on sale for $20 plus $5.95 for shipping.
It arrived well packaged and in a timely manor.
I love the bright design. In addition, the fabric washes well and is very soft.
Sierra Trading Post is a web site that sells merchandise at low prices

Purchased a $80 hunting outfit. The company charges $35 in shipping to Canada. Then I got slammed $39 by UPS for taxes, duties and additional shipping costs. So it cost me $74 in shipping on a $80 purchase.
Don't waste your time with them if shipping to Canada. It's a rip off.
Company blamed Canada when I called. And UPS blamed the company for the way they ship their items.
I use to shop at STP all the time for high end camping gear, footwear, and clothing.
Now that they have been bought out the merchandise is low end, you now get what you pay for! Glad I bought my Osprey backpack when I did.
I used to love shopping at and purchasing from STP. It's just not the same anymore. They really took away all the fun. I loved hunting for coupons, receiving the deal flyers, and trying to figure out the best possible way to get the best deals. All of that is gone.
The selection isn't what it used to be, the prices are really not enticing anymore, and the iOS app is pretty glitchy and buggy. I was ordering from STP probably 5 times a year, but have quit entirely. I wish they would just make it the way it was before the buyout. It's a really sad situation.
This website used to be the best. I look at my gear collection and so much of it came from STP that it is ridiculous. I used to buy things I didn't really need because the deals were so great. Now though...
I just looked up 5 items and EVER SINGLE ITEM could be purchased for 10-20% less on other websites. The high end outdoor brands are gone, the coupon codes are gone, the selection is gone, and the deals are "meh".
Take a winning business that people loved and destroy it to carry the brands that TJ Maxx works with, not the brands outdoor enthusiasts want.
It is just infuriating to see the greatest outdoor store replaced with yet another run of the mill website. I really hope someone steps up and fills in the gap the old STP site left.
Purchased 5.10 MTB shoes for my wife. They did not fit, so I returned them, unworn and within their allotted return timeframe. They sent them back to me saying they were not re-sellable but with no specifics as to why. I used their instant refund and bought a different pair of shoes at the time I did the paperwork. Now, I am going to sell the shoes they say are unsellable and return the shoes I bought from them. They can suck it, and pay shipping. Screw you Sierra!

I have been a customer of Sierra Trading since the beginning. What set them apart from the big corporations, was their customer service. That is now a thing of the past. I recently had a problem that STP acknowledged was their fault and yet in the same breath said they would not correct it. But they did say that I could rectify it by me taking time out of my day to go and return it! This easily could have been rectified but they chose not too. I too am bummed at was once a great company. I Guess I'm now a Amazon shopper. At least they have been good so far at correcting return problems. I will not order from STP again...
