I ordered two pairs of woman's gloves, king bed sheets, and two infant outfits on 12/12/23 I received a email that it was shipped the same day and I received the order on 1/6/24. Every thing is in perfect condition. Sierra may have had problems in the past, but they must have fixed them.
I have spent more then 20,000 dollars over the years at stp. It was one stop shopping for outdoor gear for my family of 5 (hiking / skiing/ camping / beach) and for all my business attire also. No longer. Terrible selection. Terrible shipping rates. Terrible customer service. Can't see how this place will cont to stay in business when all your best customers are leaving. It's sad to see a family business that had such a loyal following be completely gutted by its new corporate owners.
I've spent many thousands of dollars over the years... probably over $20K in the past 20 years. I loved the deals, the selection, the great mix of high-end and basic brands. Like many more here, I lament that's all gone. For about the 4th time in the past few months, I just looked at their site and found *nothing* I wanted. Too bad... at least there's Amazon.
I shopped at STP for many years because you could find unusual and very high-quality items at an excellent price. I still have a wool J. G. Glover Peregrine sweater bought years and years ago from STP that I wear constantly, with no pilling -- it made me understand that there IS a difference with certain brands. I also enjoyed the free shipping quizzes and other quirky things (even the weird Jesus message in the "about us" section). I guess those days are over. Now that TJ Maxx owns them it's just a lot of mid- to low-level mall, off-brand, leftovers stuff -- kind of like shopping at TJ Maxx. I guess STP's old buyers who found all that great stuff must have disappeared with the TJMaxx takeover. There is really nothing special about STP (now just called "Sierra") anymore. It's a shame.
Sierra trading post was originally headed up by a self-professed devout Christian, who was happy to avow his faith and its application to STP. But eventually he sold out to a conglomerate (tj max, marshall's etc) and STP has gone from excellent to terrible. Was STP bought just to kill the competition? Who knows? But it's sad to see the death of a viable business.
Sierra Trading Post has great deals and lots of great prices when combined with the daily email offers. Lots of their products are high quality and at such unbelievable prices that I am sometimes in shock. I buy not only clothing but household items such as rugs, boot trays, bar tools, glasses, cleaning products, etc., etc. I usually head towards the clearance section where some items are up to 95% off. I will just come out and say it: I LOVE SIERRA TRADING POST. Great customer service and easy return policy also.
Tip for consumers:
Not worth the trouble and cost to return anything -- just keep it and swallow your loss because you did get some great deals!
I have been a loyal customer for years unfortunately Sierra trading post compony has been ruined by new owners. I am disgusted with the changes. The store has turned into another Tjmax. It is so crowded with junk merchandise and very unorganized. It has changed into a very stressful environment to shop. Online shopping is no longer fun or worthwhile... customer service has gone down the toilet. I miss them
I agree with everyone's assessment of STP after TJ Maxx purchased them. They used to have really good pricing via their coupon codes and a eclectic mix of products but now it's just TJ Maxx but online. I used to look at flashlights and knives for one thing but that has dwindled down to cheap knives and crappy headlamps. Unless there is a 180, I am peace outing from STP.
I have been shopping at STP since the mid "90s' driving to Cheyenne to find the store stocked with popular brand named items at great value. Since TJMaxx bought out STP things have changed for the worst. They have built stores all across the country filling them with off brand products with a few named brands sprinkled throughout. You use to be able to drive to the warehouse to check items out, not any more and the Cheyenne store is a shell of its old self. What was a store full of quality fishing, camping, hiking and other outdoor products is full of home and off brand crap and they are even raising shipping cost. Sad to see such a once fun place to shop fall so far.
Cheap prices, cheap customer service, cheap product. Placed 2 orders, they cancelled without a notice and can't give me clear explanation why they cancelled. Customer service is a joke. Avoid this company, they don't deserve your money!

I have been a long time customer of STP. I tried to get online and order this week and was surprised by the website. I thought my computer was messed up because all I could see were giant TJ MAXX letters on the screen. I tried to click sierra trading post and was directed to TJ MAXX. I am very sorry to see this company go. I enjoyed looking for new items and trying different brands. I tried to search a brand I normally order and found dozens of similar items but alas not the one I wanted. If I wanted to shop TJ MAXX I'd drive to the store. I will be looking for another online company. Any suggestions?
The TJX transformation of STP is (sadly) complete. The store where I live now looks exactly like any old TJMaxx - rows and rows of clothes crammed so tightly together it's difficult to browse, with a few end cap style eye catchers. The prices are up, the service is down and the selection is awful. I've stopped shopping there except for the occasional fishing item, where it's clear the buyers have no real idea what they're doing. Case in point: I live in the Rocky Mountains, but I visit northeast Florida several times a year where I like to surf fish. Last fall I checked the fishing supplies and to my surprise there were four high quality sand spikes used as rod holders for surf fishing. I scooped them up at the very reasonable price of $12 each. Aside from the odd surprise like that there's virtually nothing in the store that resembles the old STP.
I'm not certain what TJX had in mind when they bought STP, but I'd sure like to know. I suppose it will eventually come out somewhere in a blog post, op ed or annual report. We'll see. In any case, whether it was to get access to a customer demographic that just doesn't see the point in TJMAXX (yeah, I've been in a couple of their stores. It's chaos.) or they thought they could turn loyal STP catalog (website) customers into store walkers - they got it wrong.
TJX doesn't do online. That's part of their business model - ignore the web. So they thought "hey, let's buy STP, kill the web business, and open a bunch of stores nationwide to lure those former loyal customers in". Genius. Pure genius.
I initially thought they bought STP to get access to the supply channels that STP had built up over the years for top name brand close outs. If that's true, then why do those brands no longer show up in the stores? It's a mystery to me.
I have a friend who works at the local STP store where I live and the most common question she gets is "What happened to the store?". All the stuff we used to shop for at STP, like (fill in the blank for your favorite outdoor activity) is gone. There used to be a whole wall of camping supplies - now it's an end cap. Same for fishing, hunting, you name it. Now it's seasonal clothes. And more clothes. With brands I've never heard of.
I don't mind change - if it's for the better. But, after two and half years of steady decline I'm losing heart. Case in point: I'm a fly fisherman. There used to be (literally) hundreds of boxes of flies at great prices in the store that took up a large section of the fishing isle. Three years ago I could have broken the bank buying decent quality files at great prices (nearly did!). Fast forward to this year and the flies have been replace with, what?, saltwater lures. Huh? I live in the Rocky Mountains. Perhaps they're saving all the files for the stores they plan to open in Florida?
I guess the good news is that the business model Keith Richardson envisioned and worked so hard to build a company around is now available for re-creation as a replacement for the old STP. Any takers?
Maybe Mr. Richardson will take the $200M he got for STP and start over? Hopefully, he didn't sign a non-compete...
Customer service is horrible, if you order online, don't expect your merchandise any time soon, it takes them over a week to actually ship your order plus the actual transit time of your merchandise, and you may not even get all of the items you ordered. I placed 3 separate orders within 2 months period and all 3 orders took over one week to process and ship. 2 of the orders shipped out incomplete... just horrible customer service, supervisors not available and don't return your phone calls.
I'm a long time customer but for the past year the service, order delivery and completeness as well as quality of the merchandise have bee very bad! Will not be buying from them again and DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!
Ordered something on 1/5. Site says 3-4 day shipping. Contacted them on the 9th as I hadn't received anything saying the order had been cancelled! No text - no email - cancelled. Theyve had my payment tied up at the bank since the 5th and are telling me the money isn't released because of bank policy. Funny, in 20 years with this bank I've never had issues. This company has no customer service and only kids and the elderly taking the calls. It isn't that much money but this is just wrong. I'll never buy from them again.

This used to be a favorite place to shop... until I tried to place a review with less than 3 stars and realized it took weeks to post. Thinking I made a mistake and that couldn't be deliberate I tried again with simultaneous reviews with different stars... Only 3 stars or above were processed in a timely fashion... So don't take any of those reviews too seriously
I didn't know they'd been bought out til I stopped here to write a review -- hadn't purchased from them in a while, and wondered why the selection hadn't been as good. I did recently find a really great deal on a pair of Tevas and an Ortlieb backpack, but I'm sad to know they're just part of a conglomerate now. I hope they won't go downhill as badly as other companies that have suffered that fate, but will be wary.
LONG time STP customer & always referred others for deals. Always made time to visit Denver store when in the Mile-High city. Was happy to hear my city to get a retail store this Fall but... now who cares. Cannot begin to understand what TJ Maxx ever so brilliant senior mgmt. Business "plan" is except to alienate the STP devoted customer base. You do NOT make $'s selling the $60 order of t shirts/socks. You MAKE money with recurring customers that yes, want a deal but buy large orders over long time periods. This is called smart business if anyone from TJ Maxx is not familiar w/the phrase. About only thing I can say is this slow death spiral of STP will be another of the study cases in a MBA class on how to kill a going, profitable concern with some unbelievable "vision" on how to acquire a company & make gizzions... or not.
Used to be the best. Now TJX has turned it into crap. I was just told my return rate was high and that I would no longer receive deal flyers. I typically buy shoes and shirts on here, and for shoes I buy several sizes and return those that don't fit, and for shirts I buy all the colors I like when I want to try a shirt on, so I could own all the colors I like before they sell out. So basically, my return rate is guaranteed to be high. It doesn't mean I'm returning used stuff. I've been doing this since 2010, when I bought my first things on STP. Its pretty humiliating to be turned away as a customer my first time. It literally tempts me to return every single thing I got from STP.

I have been a fan of STP and spent a couple of thousand dollars with them in the last two years. I have been very happy until several days ago. I ordered two pairs of Coyote Shifter Sunglasses two months ago. I started to wear them in the last couple of weeks. They broke one by one like plastic toys. When I called STP, I was told that I was too late to return them. I had only one week to return once I received them... WHAT? That is NOT the way to treat a loyal costumer.
I have ordered from Sierra twice now... BOTH Times for gifts, and both times order was cancelled without ANY notification. When I ask about the orders... THEN I am told they are cancelled because of the bank, yet the money is on hold in the account and there is NO issues with anyone else... WORST customer interaction, communication and service EVER! Will NEVER order again!

Worst place ever. I brought two things for my pet back home. After I came back, my memory was fuzzy and I couldn't find my receipt. The cashier was also the person that help me that day and didn't explain the email address quite well and i refused because it was late and closing. I didn't want to keep them from leaving work. Well, today I go to see if I can get store credit. The cashier said if you don't have the hard-copy, or record of purchasing it, we can't give you a refund. You have to show proof you brought it and the cashier remembers me and the items, but since there's no proof I can't get a refund nor store credit. It basically sounded like I shoplifted, but i paid $50 for it. I don't know what am I gonna do with two items that don't fit my dog. At least its $50 and not $500 that I loss. There prices are not that good. I think there are other places that are cheaper and have a better return policy than this place.
$ 10 off first order over $ 30 on your first order. I am very pleased with the customer service, a wide range of products, ease of ordering and weekly discounts. To receive the discount, follow the link and register on the site. Overall I highly recommend sierratradingpost to everyone!

After having difficulties with credit card processing everything was resolve with Sierra Trading Post great customer support! Sierra Trading Post have really great prices and I'm looking forward to shop again with them.
I recommend making purchase on Sierra Trading Post to everyone!
I spent a fortune at the old STP and loved their selection, prices, and service. Since being gobbled up, everything good about STP is gone. Vanished. Now they sell garbage at high prices, and have implemented a new plan I call "Lousy Service".
Apparently, TJX in its infinite wisdom, decided that what STP needed most wasn't all the things that made it a hit with shoppers, but rather they just needed to be more Politically Correct. How's that working out for you, TJX?

RIP Sierra Trading Post!
Sierra Trading Post is a great online ordering company, specializing in Winter Recreational gear. They have all the top brands in that category: NorthFace, Patagonia, and Columbia, to name some. And get this--you have a whole 6 MONTHS before returning, if you don't like, for a FULL REFUND! They even include a shipping label so shipping is free too! Unbelievable! I've only had to return 2 items ever as they partner with the brands that offer 'best in quality' gear. Check out Sierra Trading Post for all of your cold weather gear.
