I bought a house last year and needed some security. I researched a lot and found simplisafe was recommended mainly because it has no monthly contract. I ordered via phone. Received the system and was able to watch videos and read about proper installation I'd never done this before so was concerned it'd be right. I put in 3 door sensors, one motion sensor, 2 glass break sensors, the base unit, the remote and the display all by myself. I signed up for auto pay online I do pay 15$ a month for 24/7 police monitoring but I have no contract. I love the alarm. It's simple and I feel safe. I can monitor it online When you don't have to contact a company over and over after being on their website... that's a great thing. I just set it up and forget it!
The only reason SimpliSafe gets 2 stars is because I did finally receive a refund (after 3 weeks). After I installed most of the sensors I bought, I called in to get help activating the mobile app. Their two-step authentication was a nightmare. For whatever reason it requires a verification code sent by email. The problem is, the company could not send the email. Minutes seem to turn into hours on the phone. Three different representatives actually hung up on me. I was without my 300 bucks and a security system for 3 weeks because of this company. I STRONGLY do not recommend as my current local security company shared a video of a burglar easily disarming a SimpliSafe alarm. The whole experience was a major pain but probably wound up turning out better for me in the long run since there is little worse than a false sense of security based on a company that can't even send an email verification as part of their own standard operating procedure.

Every time we travel, we get false alarms from either connection issues or sensors falling off the windows. Terrible since we never know if it is a false alarm and panic until we figure out what is going on. Of course 60 day return policy and it's been 65 days since we purchased. Do you research before buying!
I bought a complete system for our house, was able to install it within 30 mins and it works like a charm. I had an item I couldn't use and with no questions asked they send me return label for shipping. Very pleasantly surprised about their quality of Customer Service. Highly recommend this company.
I am locked into a contract paying $49 a month for the next 2.5 years with ADT. If I had known about simplisafe first I would have gone with this company. They are selling the exact same equipment for only $249 a one time fee. I cannot believe the additional money ADT is making off of these systems. Simplisafe has pretty much the exact same system of motion, door, keychain, etc. Installation is easy as I watched the ADT guy just mount the things in like 15 minutes. The only reason why ADT has a slight edge is because of the name on the big sign you put outside your home. I am not sure if the robbers are going to know what simplisafe is or that it is an alarm company at all. Here is my advice, go by an ADT sign from ebay (yes you can buy them) and then buy simplisafe as your alarm.
I installed SimpliSafe security at my home and love it! It was so easy to set up and makes my family feel safe. It saves you a lot of money for similar value as more full service options.
I bought this system because they don't require a monitoring contract. I will admit that the system works as described but... their free month of monitoring is a bait and switch scam. I live in a very safe community so I didn't want full time monitoring, I only wanted it when I was away. About a year ago, as I was preparing to leave town, I received an offer for a free month of monitoring. Since this was the situation where I wanted monitoring, I accepted their offer to try it. Recently, while looking for a specific credit card charge, I discovered that they had, without any notification, been charging me for monitoring for the entire year. Not only were they charging me, it was for their most expensive plan, $24.99 per month.
When I contacted them I was informed that the free month automatically changes to paid monitoring, whether it was intentional or not and remains in effect until you call and cancel it. I guess they either just forget to mention that or, more likely, it's a way to get you into their most expensive monitoring program without clearly explaining it or notifying the customer. So, they beat me out of $300 but I have already made their scam known to a couple people I had referred to them. They have bought systems from more honest companies.
I flew for law enforcement for a number of years and was hoping this product would be safe for the family: Horrible product! We keep resetting the video access verification so that Simplisafe can see the video if there is a break-in. Well, it continues to this day being turned off automatically. The video cameras work inconsistently and indoor video cameras come on automatically as if someone from Simplisafe is looking in?! DON'T PURCHASE!
After numerous calls to remedy, they have no solution. Here is the email we get constantly after resetting allowing verification video access and we never turn it off:

When I ordered my system, I was told that the smoke detector would ship out in a week or so separate from the main order. So not true at all. The following week I called to order a CO detector and was told it was out of stock and they didn't know when it would back in. When I question them on the smoke detector, I was also told that had been out of stock and they are sure when it would be in. They told me I could use still, I said that not having those items defeats the purpose of having the system. I them decided to return the items that they sent me being I never used them. This is where the major problems come in. The product had to go to the post office then it gets shipped to FedEx only to go back to the post office in the end. It sat at the post office for 5 days before it moved then it sat at FedEx for a week with no movement. I tried calling FedEx but was told only the shipper could issue a tracer on the item. I then called SimpliSafe and they were no help at all. I asked about my refund and was told they cannot refund until they get the items back but they will not look into what the problem is with FedEx. Two and half weeks out and no refund and I have call them at least 6-7 time about this but help at all. I don't understand why they didn't just issue a return label just for FedEx instead of doing it the roundabout way.

None of them due the fact that they were out of stock on parts
I had the tech help people help me set up the system. They did something that caused my system not to work properly because the monitring wouldnt work. They ended up sending me a part in the mail to add and at that point I simply wanted a return for my investment. There is a 60 return policy that I did not make. I did tell the person that the system didnt work which is different than simply just returning the system. I dont know any business that sells something that dosnt work and wont return their money. The superisor I talked to didnt care about the situation concering this matter. I told her over and over the system didnt work and that I tried to trouble shoot with the tech people but it didnt matter. SimpliSafe will screw you as a customer.
I use this system. Having used other home security systems, I can say with confidence that a little research on your part will show you that Simplisafe is by far the least expensive to purchase and operate and it's a very easy DIY project if you READ THE DIRECTIONS. The no contract monthly charge greatly reduces future agravation when trying to cancel such as the company requiring a written, snail mail deliverd request. FYI, I refused and just stopped payment. There are however two features that are not readily apparent. First, because Simplisafe uses a dedicated cell phone as compared to the typical use of a land-line connection, would be burglars can't disable the system by simply cutting the phone line. In contrast, even unplugging Simplisafe, without the pass code, alerts the company. Second, by carrying the activation fob on your person when at home, you have, at no extra cost, the benefit of the expensive Lifealert, "i've fallen and I can't get up!" system. Simply hit the panic button and they send help. What's not to like?
Had for years. Excellent service. Always calls after any event. Very nice. Decent price per month. Woud highly recommend.
On Oct 1st, I went to a gun show in downtown Wichita, KS. At the show was Holster Designs, ******* Interstate 45, Unit 8E, Spring TX *******. Because the show did NOT provide power to Tom (Holster Designs), he was unable to make me two holsters. Since the friend I was with had done business with him (Tom also sells knives), I gave Tom $70 cash and he promised the holsters would be sent the following Tuesday. As a retired military officer I trust people when they give me their word that they are going to do something. Tom answered one of my emails (the very first one), but he has failed to answer his phone nor emails that I have sent him. Then On Nov 17th, I went back to the Wichita gun show because Holster Designs was scheduled to be there that weekend. Naturally he did not show and it is probably because he had scammed others who were crazy enough to pay him in cash. The RK show manger said there was another vendor at the show that knew Tom. So this vendor called him for me and I talked to Tom and he once again promised that he would send me a certified check for $70. I waited two weeks and still received nothing as promised.
For anyone who purchases a product from Holster Designs needs to understand that you will probably not get the warranty support that this company promises. You see from the above description that his promises are worthless. Don't be fooled there are other products out there that are just as good and probably better than his. Since Holster Designs is located in Texas, he frequents gun shows around Ft. Worth, Dallas, etc.
I have contacted the BBB out of TX and Tomas refused to fix the problem, ignored their efforts in trying to resolve my issue.
Tip for consumers:
Holsterdesigns.com. Run away do not give this guy your money because he will NOT support any of your warranty claims.
