My son and I shave our heads. He had this other one (Balder Pro) or something like that, I believe. I broke after a month or two and the shave wasn't close. I bought him Skull Shaver and it was a revelation to him. Now, having said that, if you want a razor close head shave it's best to do it in the shower. (This is a wet-dry shaver). I use the carver head because it gives a particularly close shave. I can use it daily and it doesn't irritate my head. It keep a charge and it's very, very was to clean. Don't worry about getting the base model. I have the base model (Silver). I bought my son the gold upgrade. The bells and whistles don't affect the shave closeness. The shaver head does.
Let me save you the trouble of considering other brands and other reviews/reviewers. I'm telling the truth with absolutely nothing to gain. This is the best brand and it's durable. I've had it for a year. I've cleaned it, I've dropped it on the floor. I can't kill it!
