Don not fall for the free trail offer. We canceled the Free Trial offer in the allotted time frame but the re activation button on the remote was hit and my card charged, I immediately canceled the service but was told NO REFUNDS! What? This was an authorized charge and no service was used. Horrible customer service! Had to dispute with my credit card company.
Terrible service. Your sling service stops working, and they do absolutely nothing to help solve the issue.
Strongly recommend AGAINST sling TV unless you want to be driven nuts by their completely inept and rude customer service.
When there is a problem - They give you no tracking number for the issue, and NEVER contact you back. Worthless waste of time. AVOID! I've had Silng TV for 5 years now, and I'm leaving Sling. Not worth the hassle.
I was charged before the trial was over called spoke to manager i was just suppose to try it out and they did not want to refund me even if deadline was a couple of minutes they gave me a diffrent date to cancel and time was not my fault now im - almost $50
Did the prepay for 2 months with free Roku device. After being disappointed with the programming and numerous incidents of freezing, I canceled and requested a refund less than 24 hours later. They refused & said I agreed to non refundable terms. Spoke to a supervisor who was useless and rude, emailed, chatted and called sling support and was told sorry, no refunds. Made a post on their Facebook page which has now disappeared and rather than make it right, Jonathan G just kept arguing with me. I felt like I was dealing with a 16 year old and it wouldn't surprise me if that was the case. Bottom Line-they are scammers and thieves and don't deserve even 1 star.
I have had constant problems with Sling on both my laptop and smart tv. The app crashes, eternally buffers, won't stay installed, and does not save your place if you need to stop watching mid show. The audio and video will not be synced or the video will freeze all together while the audio continues on. I tried to close the app and restart, but it was so frozen I had to unplug my AppleTV. I'm young and tech savvy, but this service is so poor there's nothing that can make it work properly.
Now, I've tried to cancel my subscription online and, of course, the website is malfunctioning. When I click "cancel subscription" a wordless black box pops up without further instruction or confirmation. I had to chat with a rep to cancel my subscription. It really burns me when a company is so sleazy that they try to trap their customers into autorenewing subscriptions. Stay away!
My grandson and I decided to watch Willy Wonka on Sling. Everything was fine until the first advertising intermission. Sling showed DVD after DVD of adult titles. "Magic Mike", "Girls Trip", "Zoolander", etc.
Maybe Sling should look into matching their advertising with the content of the shows being watched!
App is terrible on TV and laptop, glitchy as heck. Sound is gone sometimes, spinning wheel of death occurs too frequently (and I'm hard wired into Fios 1 gig internet speed, not wifi). It freezes, gets blurry or pixelated, simply not worth it.
I keep giving you guys a chance because you are less expensive, but I'm never using your service again! I only signed up for your service to get NFL Redzone and the service is terrible. It freezes, times out and boots me out of the game. Meanwhile, I have guest joining me to watch and it's just fukn embarrassing. I have the fastest broadband you can find in my city. I work from home with multiple devices all year long so you can't use that as an excuse. Un$#*!ingbelievable! I switched to Hulu last year and I will switch back to them again! I gave you my money in an economy where everything is increasingly getting more expensive, trusting that you would improve over previous years but it's the same $#*!!
Wish I had read the reviews on before subscribing to Sling's free Roku offer with 2 months prepay. I bought it believing I was going to see the World Cup, Wimbledon and then possibly keep the subscription. When I discovered within a few hours that I could only get a few World Cup matches (and of course not the most important ones) I tried to cancel but they would not budge.
I could not have imagined that a 'major' player in the US market with a lot of competition could have such a poor and inflexible customer service policy. If a customer can't get what they want from your service and made a mistake and told you in a timely manner then it is a no-brainer to refund.
BTW: I'll be sure to read yelp reviews before I purchase something again because it shows an accurate review of Sling. Other review sites appear to be advertising for the companies themselves! Perhaps this why Sling gets a 4 stars review on one site when it is in effect 0 stars.
After many calls and lots of research and questions my husband and I signed up for sling. I asked the woman specifically about local channels and I was told that for an extra hundred dollars I could buy an air tv2 and an antennae and I would receive all of my local channels. We waited 5 days got it and then NOTHING. No extra channels. Called sling after speaking to 5 different people we got Danika the Global Expert, not kidding thats her title, on the phone. We explained the situation and asked if we could return the antennae and she said no. Period. End of story. And apparently she does not have a boss. The buck stopped with her. So I asked her what should we do with this equipment your people had us buy that is useless. She said I understand your frustration but I cant help you. Think long and hard before you let them rip you off too.
Just to repeat, do not use this service. We too tried to do just the free trial and thought that we needed to call back to confirm our service only to find out that they had billed us for a full month. They refused to refund the money so we canceled our service and have contacted American Express to help us recover the funds and to put a block on any future charges they might try to apply. We never received any remote in the mail or roku so we didn't know that they had charged us until we saw our credit card statement. Although customer service wasn't rude, they were useless in resolving the billing issue. This is not the type of underhanded business anyone wants or should do business with. Stay away!
When my "basic cable" went up to $80 a month I started looking around. I live in a wooded, rural area, so I can't use either an antenna or a dish. I got a roku ($50) and for $20 a month (and an internet connection) I can get both real time and streaming channels. No contracts, month-to-month payment. It doesn't replace broadcast TV or cable, but it is a real alternative. Downside, only works on 1 devise at a time (remember when we watched TV together as a family) and Sling doesn't transmit the big 3 (ABC, NBC, CBS), Check out the stations it does have, (ESPN, Disney, Lifetime) and the ability to add HBO for $15 a month at a time. Love it!
Sling took my money. I paid for both packages. Sling stopped providing me fox 5 Atl. And they wouldn't give me my money back. Sling stated that it was and IP problem (lying). No other channel is being affected.
This is exactly why I'm canceling my subscription.
I did the 7 day FREE trial to try this out and on the 7thy day I cancelled it. However they STILL charged my card and then refused to give me a refund! Apparently it's in the agreement that they do not give refunds but the customer service rep put me on hold to ask her supervisor about a refund... so they can give them, they just refuse to do so. This company is a joke and a crook! Don't trust them!
I signed up for a 14 day trial in which I had to set up a credit card in the event I wanted to keep it. I wasn't happy with the channels and I removed it from my feed and list after 3 days. They have since tried to bill my card after contacting them to let them know that I didn't have any need to keep the service. I saved all email from them including my confirmation of cancellation. They still tried to bill my card, which is unethical behavior and I feel it is my duty as a consumer to report it.
When I called to order sling, I was told I'd be able to watch the University of Michigan football in my area. Sign up, and wouldn't you know it's nowhere to be found. I called and said hey, you guys told me I would be able to watch it and they said sorry no refunds. I am so so frustrated. And they honestly could care less about your complaints.
My account was reactivated mysteriously after i shut it down 45 days later and customer service refused to help me remmedy the situation. I called immediately, however, they let the charge stand and would not take my account off their website even though i had to shut i asked them to. I had to call the credit card company to cancel the card.
Customer service was also extremely rude - the worst experience i've ever had with a service.
I signed on with another streaming service and was finally able to ditch sling. Woohoo! What a difference. Since my review, nothing got better with sling, despite my hopes that it would. I thought maybe time would heal all incompetence, but it didn't.
I signed on with another service that isn't suffering from incompetence or money-grabbing tactics, and they just started up.
Buh-bye!
Ive been using (okay, trying to use) Sling for around 4-5 months. I watch primarily on Apple TV with download speeds that are consistently above 50mbps.
Like no other app, Sling freezes, hangs, does jump-back/repeats, stutters, pixelates, goes out of sync, and sometimes doesn't play at all.
I did a lot of thorough troubleshooting and sent Sling an email with very detailed information.
I got back a bot reply, asking me to do all of the things I'd already done, and had told them in my email.
This happened twice before they closed the ticket with a form letter. I still don't know if they even read my emails past the first or second line.
So, I watch what I can when it works right now, stopping when it gets too frustrating. It doesn't matter whether it's live streaming, on demand, or dvr, it's just insanely unstable. To top it all off, the UI is one of the worst I've ever used.
Even though it's cheaper than cable, I don't know if it will ever be as good. I guess only time will tell.
When watching the X-files, The "Let's be Honest" commercial, where gay couples are kissing in bed, and transvestites are telling me to get tested for HIV, is repulsive.
Not to mention, that the volume is raised double during them. These commercials don't seem to run on regular broadcast TV, must be a Sling thing.
I HATE IT!.
I got it for live sports. Game 1 of the NBA Finals didn't work. Game 2 didn't work either. And then customer service responded everytime to close the app and reopen. That didn't work. The rep then said, "If I actually tried it, it would work"
I'm sorry their service wasn't working and then the fixes didn't work either and then I get called a liar? Awful awful. Will never use again.
Answer: They are rip offs fir real. I think everyone shpikd ban together gor a class action suit.
Answer: Go with your gut on this one. Click away from Sling
Answer: Don't even waste your time on sling. Don't know where you live, but there are so many more options today than there was say 5-10 years ago. Look around.
Answer: The ROKU rocks! Just avoid SLING TV at all costs. When they rip people off the FCC will not make them give you the money they owe you. The FCC just says We received your complaint and you should be hearing from SLING. What a joke! I am out $50.00, because SLING told me they were only taking major credit cards or the SLING cards. I purchased 2 $25.00 SLING cards to pay my $40.00 bill. The cards only come in $25.00 amounts. It would not take them. I called and called and got different CS agents. The cards would not go through. I got all kinds of reasons the cards were not working. I finally dropped SLING and went back to Spectrum. Something I vowed to never do. The day I called SLING to tell them I no longer wanted their service, and to tell them why I was unhappy the CS agent told me that the cards only work on the bill due date. Blah blah blah. I dontt know what happened with SLING. The service was great for a long time. Then they went to those stupid cards that would not work.
The company faces significant challenges regarding its reputation and customer service approach, as reflected in numerous customer reviews. Many users express frustration with unexpected charges, difficulties in canceling subscriptions, and inadequate support from customer service, which is often described as unhelpful and frustratingly inaccessible. Additionally, customers frequently report dissatisfaction with the service quality, including poor streaming performance and limited channel availability. While there are occasional mentions of positive experiences, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust and reliability, prompting many customers to recommend alternative services.
