A little bit of background...I have been working in treatment centers for over a decade in various roles (case manager, care coordinator, group facilitator, house manager). I recently relapsed and became a client. I have realistic expectations of treatment and not much surprises or shocks me. That being said, if I could rate this place lower, I would. Do not believe any of the positive reviews.

My husband and I came here with approx 30 days of sobriety. We had court mandated visits scheduled, two upcoming court dates and my husband planned to begin working. All of this was discussed. During our phone intake, we were told on the phone by Styles, the admissions coordinator/house manager, that Solace could help.

When we arrived to the house, we were immediately put on a 72 hour "blackout". No phones, no leaving the house, and the best part, no food. No groceries or meals were provided. Come Monday, we were told that we would be expected to be in groups all day.

My husband excused himself and spoke with Sam, the clinical director. He clarified, "If this isn't the place for us, we understand, but please let us know. We have visits scheduled, I start work soon and we need more flexibility." Sam assured us that their program was still a good fit. He said we didn't have to attend groups and that he would give us assignments to make up for any lost programming. This is the first of many lies during our stay.

It's easier to list all of the grievances at this point. The house where we stayed had 10 clients in it, two of which were sleeping in the living room on makeshift beds. There was only one bathroom and we were often encouraged to use the one in the park across the street. One star motels provide better amenities.

In less than 2 weeks, we saw six clients discharge or leave on their own accord stating their mental health needs weren't being met, My husband had to advocate for one client by telling staff that he was experiencing severe detox symptoms (this particular client had not seen a doctor and had been there for four days). Others shared stories of being lied to by Styles reporting he would say anything to get them in the door with no actual follow through.

Sam regularly complained about the cost of providing us transportation for visits with our son. Any successful treatment center can absorb such costs easily. I know because i worked for them. The lunch they claim to provide, if you do attend groups, is freezer-burned bagel bites. Everyday. Groups consist of repetitive worksheets. Time drags and makes one wonder why they came to treatment in the first place. My husband sat on the floor in the van one day because there wasn't enough room for him.

As if this weren't shtty enough, neither my husband nor I ever met with a case manager.

The end of our stay came unexpectedly. We were on our way back from a visit with our son, which we paid for out of pocket. Maria, an unfriendly van driver, called my husband and said we were being discharged. She cited the reason as not being able to program enough.

They had packed our things, put them in the garage in trash bags and locked us out of the house. We called our friend who owns a treatment center and he advised us to call the authorities. We needed to file an incident report, as places that do this often say the clients left on their own accord.

The sheriff came out and initially thought we had relapsed, engaged in violence or had violated some rule of the house but was told that we just weren't programming enough.

At 9:30pm on a Friday night, we left to go sleep in a park. We have since sought legal counsel. They were legally required to contact three other centers and refer us to them before discharging us and leaving us on the street.

Please DO NOT trust this place. This is the type of place that gets closed down overnight after the State gets called. Inhumane, uncaring and unprofessional. It doesn't get any worse than this.
