The amount of sounds i was able to find for my little animation project was nice, and easy to find. However, as a single person working on a hobby, 15$ for 5 sounds or 29$ for 20 is a bit steep... If i had more money i'd get the 249 year bundle, which would pay for itself after 160 sound downloads, assuming you otherwise use the 29$ option (unless my math is wrong) Some reviews mention 'lulling customers in' with promises of free sounds, there is a free sound section, but i havent checked it out, so im not sure the scope of it. Sound quality is very nice and very varied, so if you need just a few particular sounds you cant find elsewhere, it's a good option.
They rope you in with the idea that the sounds will be free to download once you create the account only to tell you no, you have to get a subscription, which ranges from $15 to $199. And if you want to close your account? Forget about it. You'll have to email them because that feature is conveniently not on the site at all. And if you email them about why you want to close it/requesting to close it they'll ignore that party and just try to sell you the subscription until you put your foot down about wanting your account closed.

Tip for consumers:
try a bunch of different terms for your search, for example a name might not have 'western gun' in it but has 'old' in it or something like that...
as for the free sounds, might be easiest to just google 'soundsnap free sounds' and it should link you to the right spot, i didnt see it on the site itself

Various weapon sounds such as loading, manipulation, and spinning
I needed a selection of sound elements for a short a film project and soundsnap was an invaluable resource. The site was responsive and 90% of the sounds I downloaded were clean and high quality. I think browsing by categories could be improved, especially when you hone in on a particular sound, it would be good to see others in the same collection or by the same artist but the search worked well for me none the less.
Simple to use - very little to no issues. Maybe 1-2 sounds I haven't found that I would have liked. But, that's in a SEA of sounds I have found. Bravo - the best I've used online for my podcast production business.

My experience as far as the bad ones go is the very slow experience I am having in moving through the site. Also the search could be better with more Metadata. The good ones is that I always find what I need
I tried to download something and it said I needed an account, made NO mention of payment. I made an account and when I tried to download a sound it demanded that I sign up for their subscription service. Aside form being misleading, their prices are TERRIBLE! 5 Downloads for $15 USD! That's ridiculous!
I'm putting together an animated series that is partly a parody of a three-cam sitcom, and Soundsnap really came through with all the audience reaction sounds I could ever want. Very pleased!
Bought a 100 sound package. Three years later, I get an email that says they expire and I have to use them soon or lose them. I had 64 sound downloads remaining which I lost. Scammers!
Needed some sound effects for some video content I'm creating for my YouTube channel. Found exactly what I needed and for a reasonable cost. Will definitely be using them for future projects
All sudden after you sign up and try to download any sound you will be redirected to paid subscription page! And believe me it is not cheap to download even 1 sound!
When I tried to download a sound effect, it told me I had to create an account to download it. I created two accounts, and it still didn't let me download anything.
Soundsnap is my go-to for commercial work. Highly recommended, solid loading times, easy search and high quality files and search relevance.

Hi Tolias,
Thanks for your review, we really appreciate hearing where we could get better and where people love our product. Your review has both so it's absolutely perfect. I thought you might be interested to know that we are working really hard at the moment to improve on-site load times and while still not perfect we have managed to reduce these greatly in recent times (that doesn't mean they couldn't be better though!). In regards to the metadata we try to include terms that represent the sounds as best we can, but please don't hesitate to get in contact if you have further suggestions for us we're always looking for ways to improve!
Thanks Again for your review,
The Soundsnap Team
