Please consider building with another company. The salesman are amazing, but you will get NO reliable support afterwards. After signing my agreement the case manager kept telling me that I only have TWO sessions with the architect and it was difficult to reach any team members. Phones go unanswered, some office redneck tried to bully me into staying quiet after we faced some problems with construction and ultimately we received no help during and after construction. There are other options on the market. Our builder told us that this company is owned now by a Chinese corporation (originally owned by a local guy who sold to the United Arab Emirates business which sold it to the Chinese). So it's not even an American business anymore. Go real local ans support American workers.

We were fortunate to find an excellent General Contractor (not from Southland Log Homes recommended contractor list for Pennsylvania) with experience building log homes. Southland log homes provided excellent quality logs and assembly materials including windows and doors. We are finishing the interior construction ourselves. Southland Log Home designers and purchasing agents, Dorthy and Austin were very attentive and helpful to all our concerns. We received a quality product for the money and look forward many years of enjoyment in our new log cabin.
Log kit was ok. Builder took over a year to complete, plus over $20,000 in extras.
Impossible to keep water stains off the inside of logs.
Boring bees love the wood.
Windows leave a lot to be desired. Keep losing the bead.
Had flys that nested in the wood cracks for over 3 months.
Make sure you choose a good builder.
We purchased a kit from Southland Log Homes and went with their recommended builder, * of Timber Ridge Log Home Construction in Texas. They claimed he had build or chosen plan multiple times. He did not build it in accordance with the plans from the foundation up, he failed to get inspections (presumably because he knew it would not pass any inspections) and we are stuck with a semi-dried in barely screwd together 'home'. Southland claimed they removed him from their recommended builder list after seeing our house yet this fraud is still building their houses a year later while we are stuck homeless veterans that attempted to replace our home was destroyed by a hurricane. Run far away from Southland and their recommended builders unless you enjoy lawsuits and homelessness.
