I opened up a secure credit card and put a 200 dollar deposit. A week later I made an order and used the card. They shut my account down for no reason, warning or knowledge of it. Then send me a letter stating I owe them. In fact I do not but they owe me and no one will respond or assist me so my attorney is handling it now.

They are utterly incompetent. We set up a 36 month interest free loan from a store they partner with. They took the entire balance on the first payment and wiped out our checking account and then blamed us. The customer service is terrible after absolutely screwing us over.
My credit limit have been decreased for no reason at all I never made a late payment at all.
I always make payments early before the due date. I feel I've been discriminated and disrespected due to my race. This bank is ridiculous
The customer service is horrible and I could not understand the person on the other end of the phone, I hung up and called again just so I could communicate. I had a no interest revolving account set up on bill pay, paying three times the minimum payment so it would payoff with in the year. My fault on this is I opted for paperless billing and did not set up an account to see that I was being charged a late fee for 12 months in a row. Total paid was $1648 that was what was owed and they called me to tell me I owed $1400 the next month. I explained what had happened and said even if I was 3 days late that the month before I overpaid three months in advance. His response To me was they dont move it to the next month. They refused to credit me anything. I just want people to know what they get with synchrony-bank.
If it is at all possible to avoid obtaining credit with this company, do so! Synchrony Bank is the ABSOLUTE worst creditor I have ever dealt with. They will readily open an account for you with a decent enough credit limit, and then without warning, will knock it way down to a level of DISRESPECT! I have a credit score of 750, and Synchrony knocked my PayPal Credit Card limit down to $310.00 and without notice! I called India, I mean Customer Service to find out why, and I was not given a reason. I was told an email was sent to me two days prior- BS! I never received anything from them. Mind you, I owed less than $300.00 on this card and NEVER missed a payment. I have four other accounts with them and the limits are pretty healthy, and as of now they are okay, but I do not trust Synchrony Bank at all! I will pay off the accounts, and close them myself! Because just in case you weren't aware they will close your accounts without notice as well. STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS!

When someone stole my credit card number, they locked me out of my account. Later they sent me a "your statement is available" email with a link to my locked account. The due date came and went while I waited for a replacement card and access to my statement. A woman in their call center with a big attitude could not understand why I might not want to pay a credit card bill that I had never seen. Calling Synchrony for help is about as enjoyable as a trip to the dentist, although to be fair, that's somewhat insulting to dentists.
2021-11-08 Update: I had closed all accounts well over a year ago, and considered it all to be over. But recently, I received a shockingly late, vague, and all-around-useless letter from Synchrony in the mail. I'm posting it for the benefit of all. Check out the "date of inquiry" and the date the letter was written.

Synchrony Bank recently closed 3 of my accounts with them and this decision was completely unwarranted. I had two Guitar Center cards and one Levin Furniture card. I found out about this through a push notification with Credit Karma. I am more so concerned about the Levin account. I called into customer service and the first representative I spoke with was extremely rude. He told me a letter was sent to me and he read the text of that letter. He eventually hung up on me. The reasons for my closure is completely bogus. I understand I agreed to their terms and conditions upon opening the account, but that doesn't mean I can't dispute their decision. I called back in and spoke with a friendly rep who transferred me to a supervisor. The supervisor told me it is impossible to reinstate my account, although reading some of the other complaints on BBB it seems they did reinstate other accounts for people. She gave me the corporate address to which I mailed a letter. I also filed a complaint through the chat system on their website. They sent me an email a few days letter with another letter that basically said the same thing as the first one. It was a do not reply email address so I couldn't send a response back. I have made every single payment on time for all 3 accounts that were closed, I had these accounts for years! It's no wonder why these guys have a 1.9 BBB rating. Closing your customers' accounts for bogus reasons is terrible customer service. I will consider my complaint resolved when all 3 of my closed accounts are re-opened. Until then, I will continue mailing letters and filing complaints with customer service.

Went to open a CD with this clown company back in April of 2023.
1st I get as usual some filipino who can hardly speak English or answer questions when asked (just like Capital One) I asked to be transferred to U.S. so as to speak to a person that I could understand & not deal with Spicanese (God I wish they would take Spicanese off all the company phone systems & make English the law of the land). I am not getting babble to speak to them.
1st I was disconnected but I had the number now to the U.S. branch. I called back went through the whole app for $125K & was supposed to get a confirmation but it had to be through a cell phone. I don't have a cell phone so I asked: "can you email it to me?"
Reply: "NO"
I replied: "Then cancel it & erase all information that was given".
They replied: "Yes they will do so."
Would you believe for they next few weeks they were sending mail to sign & finalize the contract after a few calls to do so.
I had to go to my Bank to block Synchroney from taking the money out of my account since they had the routing & account number.
I ended up opening the CD at my Bank, where I sat with a person that I new & it went smooth as silk.
Don't deal with them they are idiots & morons do it through your local bank.
I HAD TO GIVE THEM ONE (1) star or I wouldn't be able to comment there is no place for ZERO (0) or negative stars.
