I bought a pair of pants that is over 60 days. Full tags, never worn, etc. I am only asking for the price that I paid for. It is still on the store shelf and it is now $10 more! I just want to use it as a store credit. Common sense tells you that the 60 days timeframe in this case is a mute point. What difference does it make if it is 60 days, 120 days, etc. The same item is being sold and for more money! You would think they would like to keep a customer and I would use that store credit to buy something else and more.
The customer service person was rude on the phone, put me on hold for supervisor and got hung up on. I will never shop at this store again. I will be calling their Talbot corporate office to complain. Common sense does not prevail. They gained nothing by this policy and not making an exception.

I used to love Talbots. Shopped there for 30 years. The clothes are not the quality they once were but the prices are unchanged. Also NEVER order on line. When they have a sale you will not hear from them on the status of your order nor can you reach customer service my phone, mail or chat. I made the mistake of ordering a full price item during a sale and have no clue on the status. I may never use them again. Beware!

Wow. Where to begin? First, the quality of the clothing. It used to be first-class fabric, workmanship, details. But the last few years, the clothing is so cheaply made... knits especially.

Every one of my Talbots T-shirts is now a pajama top (or a cleaning rag) because they are so misshapen after being laundered just a few times.

And their promotions are just ridiculous. Coupons and "gift certificates" arrive in the mail, and are completely worthless because they can only be used on "full-price" merchandise. And surprise! The applicable dates are the same dates when Talbots discounts everything, so the promotional mailings are worthless.

I just received a $20 "coupon" and used to buy a sweater online. A week later, I get an email that the sweater is "not available." So the $20 is wasted, completely. When I called to inquire, I get a recording that they are "too busy" and the call disconnects.

That's it Talbots. I'm cutting up my credit card today. You've lost a 30-year customer.

Sad to see Talbots decline
September 13, 2017

I have shopped at talbots for years but very sad in recent months to see such cheap shoddy clothes they are trying to pass off as classic. Talbots has lost there ability to excite the buyer with style and selection. I stopped by today hoping to buy something with my 15% of entire purchase. NO SUCH LUCK. The selection was horrible. Cheap fabric- dull colors- looked like a discount store. Sorry Talbots but please find people who know what they are doing. What is with all the silly brass buttons on sweaters and pants. So tacky and cheap. Pineapple print pants - really! Who do you think is going to buy this crap. Its embarssing to say the least. Get your act together.

On Black Friday I ordered 13 items half price, and I was told to wait patiently because they were overwhelmed by the many orders. After 2 weeks I got emails canceling all my orders "on my request", which was a lie. Of course by that time the promotion was over and my size items mostly sold out. Awful experience.
I also agree that the quality of the products and also the service at the stores went way down. Interestingly there are Talbots stores in Japan where everything is as it was here 15 years ago, it is like time travel. The only thing that's keeping me shopping there are the pants, they have my size: 20 WP.
Too bad, so sad.

Talbots used to carry very stylish and quality clothing. Their sweaters are nice but they've started using a lot of rayon and nylon mixed with the cotton. Even new you can see signs of early pilling. They use a lot of prints in their blouses and dresses that are dowdy looking. Many of their dresses are made of polyester and if not for the price tag I would expect to find them at Target. Many of their styles are quite frumpy. Their shoes are cheap quality with a rather high price tag. The only time it's worth shopping there now is when they have their clearance sales i. E. 70% off already marked down prices. They offer a lot of costume jewelry. $29.99 for a fake pearl wrapped in gold color metal. I would expect to see it at Kohls for $9.99. For the prices Talbots charges, regardless how nice the store looks or how nicely the clothing is hung on wooden hangers, you would spend your money more wisely by visiting Ann Taylor. Much more fashionable, much better quality.

Talbots in Decline
December 12, 2018

Does Talbots think their long--time customers wouldn't notice that pure wool an cotton has been replaced with polyester, nylon, and acrylic? Do they think we'll purchase these clothes that now have poor fit and design? I'm actually insulted that they think they can pawn off discount store merchandise to us for top prices.

I shop at Talbots because they sell good quality clothes in smaller sizes. I am a senior woman, not a petite at 5'5", and I keep in shape with a good diet and exercise. It is exceedingly difficult to find Misses pants sizes in 2 or even 0 (if something runs large). Thank you Talbots!

I've been a Talbots shopper for decades and now wondering why. I've moved so not close to a store, but prefer online anyway, Can't believe the shipping charge and the misleading message for Classic members vs Classisms Premier members. I also didn't realize when shopping via a search for petites I would also have to again double-check petites when I ordered. So I got a non-petite item. I'm guessing I would pay more in return and re-sending fees than the item cost. Setting reminder to self to delete future Talbots messages to avoid being sucked into more after the fact regrettable purchases. While the Talbots clothing is mostly classic, their online processes are outdated.

I wear a size 18W in clothes. It's certainly not small, but definitely not huge. Yet, when I go to purchase an item online from Talbot's, I have to pay $10 more than a misses size for the exact same item. C'mon, you mean to tell me that y'all used $10 more fabric on a $99 skirt?! Who in good conscience even does that?! Shameful. If you wear plus sizes clothes and you buy from this company, just know you are contributing to their ridiculous pricing policies that actively gauge you and discriminate based on your size.
