This past April I booked a room through the knot (via phone) for two nights for a friends wedding in June. Over the phone I was given a rate of $208 plus tax per night and gave my information to charge it right away. I then received a confirmation email charging me $282.13 plus tax a night... Immediately (literally within minutes of receiving this email) I called to discuss why I was billed a ridiculously incorrect amount from what I was told/authorized them to charge. To my surprise I was bounced around to multiple people and even hung up on a few times. It took me hours of calling and waiting to finally get ahold of someone helpful. When I spoke to someone in customer service that listened to my original call and heard I was to be billed the amount I was told she told me she would put in a ticket to have me refunded... fast forward a couple weeks I didn't hear anything further and called again. And again took me over two hours to get a hold of someone and once I did they said they saw a ticket in for this but would put a second one to hopefully speed the process up. It is now JUNE and I have yet to get any of money back that I was wrongfully charged. This has literally been one of the worst experiences I have ever had to deal with. Fingers crossed I get my money back some day.
FYI I will no longer ever support The Knot as a company.
This company claims that they will help you get weddings as a vendor, which happened initially when I signed up, but there was zero customer service when I called to speak with someone about how to help my presence on the site. After months of nothing, I tried calling to cancel my membership as I wasn't getting anything out of it. No one called me back. In the meantime, my card on file expired and finally someone called me to collect MONEY. After a few calls, we finally worked something out and The Knot told me they would call me back with updated options for my business so I could continue paying with the security of mind that it wasn't just going out the door.
3 months later - with no call or email from The Knot, they sent my outstanding payment (which I was willing to pay) to a debt collector.
Literally have had the WORST experience with this company and that would've been solved with a phone call back, any check-in from the person who sold me on The Knot (who said he would check-in with me often through my membership), and actual customer service.
If you're looking to throw money at something with little to no reward, The Knot is the place to go. All they care about is collecting money and not actually serving its vendors who pay to be on their site.
Hi Christy, thank you for posting a review and we’re sorry to hear that your experience was not up to standards. We would like the opportunity to talk and investigate your feedback further. If you wouldn't mind sending us a personal message with your business details, we will be happy to get in touch and discuss this matter with you further! Thank you and we look forwarding to speaking with you soon.
I had a really short engagement and I heard everyone was using The Knot. However, when I began to use it, their site would not work 80% of the time I needed it to. It would not allow me to go to access the site to edit my webpage that I created and it deleted the guests I had added to the guest list manager. WORST WEBSITE! DO NOT USE THIS! I would suggest Wedding Wire. I used it as "backup" and I never once had an issue with it!
I was in the middle of emailing a team member from the knot and they said they were going to print the invitations and get them how I wanted. This was two weeks ago. I have already paid for invitations but they are nowhere to be found. The last time I heard from anybody was on the 1st of April. I have called, I have emailed, I even called and emailed customer service. No one is anywhere to be found. They just dropped off the face of the earth. Not only can I not reach someone, but I have no way of getting my money back to get invitations elsewhere. So now I'm screwed out of 175$. DO NOT print invitations out through the knot. They do not care about their customers and theres no way to call them to talk to a real person. You leave a message and are at their disposal at whether theyll bother to pick up the phone or not. They email you and say everything's in order, then dont ever contact you for weeks on end. The knot is not reliable and is a waste of money to spend on their services. Please, do yourself a favor and find a different site for your wedding planning for your own peace of mind!
I am very sorry to hear that you hadn't heard back from the team. I do want to take a look at this a bit more for you but will need your order information. Please email us at help@theknot.com, Attn: Keri, and I will make sure we look at where the miss was and how we can make you whole again. Talk soon.
This website promise lead and profit for our investment. It is a lie they send fake lead and alots of spam of people trying to scam. It is definitely not worth the investment. Most leads font reply
I booked a Hotel through The Knot and it gave me the incorrect pricing, then would not cancel/refund the charges.
Our guests had difficulty processing cash fund or purchasing things from the registry site. Created such an inconvenience and awkward situations. Would not recommend.
Imagine walking into McDonalds to buy an apple pie. You swipe your credit card, get the receipt, and stuff it in your pocket. Three days later, McDonald bills you for an apple pie every month because on your receipt it said, "By entering into this purchase, you have agreed to being billed every month for an Apple pie. If you object to this agreement, please notify us within three days. If you do not notify us within three days, you will be billed an Apple Pie every month, for a year..."
Doesn't that sound like a scam?
Well, this is exactly what The Knot did to me, and many many other wedding vendors. We were promised an advertising contract that would be month to month. Then, in fine print on the first bill, they had lingo that allowed them to bill our credit card every month. This method of billing is called "negative option billing." Which means, if you don't say no, we can steal from you legally for a year.

I am pissed... as with so many other victims of the Knot.
The problem is that we our complaints are scattered over the internet. And there is not viable way for us to communicate to each other. So... I've created a facebook group.
https://www.facebook.com/knotrippedmeoff
Please, if you've been ripped off: vendor or bride, or anyone. Please join my group. Lets communicate, share stories, and lets sue these bastards when we get enough voices.
The Knot endorses/promotes many vendors on their website, some of which are SCAMS! One such vendor is DESTIFY. DESTIFY will book your transportation, take your FULL PAYMENT, cancel that transportation just 24 hours prior to travel, AND REFUSE TO REFUND YOUR MONEY! Beware of The Knot and their vendors!
Thank you for your review. I’m sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience, but I really appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention. I would highly recommend leaving a review on that vendor's page. Our reviews team monitors these and takes all accusations very seriously. I imagine they will want to investigate this further. If you have any questions about the review you may have already left, please feel free to reach out to reviewinquiry@weddingpro.com. We look forward to resolving this with you!
I wish I read the reviews before creating my site and sharing it with our guests. Nothing has worked properly! You can not make individual RSVP lists for other events taking place during the wedding week. Everyone can RSVP to any "other event" you create. Our guests aren't able to view our registry through the site (weeks after attaching the links). I have called and emailed the knot with no proper response. Guests have started RSVPing to our wedding and the site isn't working! PICK A DIFFERENT WEBSITE FOR YOUR WEDDING!
I am a Professional DJ who figured the Knot would bring me more business... what a Ripoff they Promised me to try it for 3 Months then I can cancel anytime. When I tried to cancel after 3 months of not getting an Wedding Leads they said that I would have to keep it for 6 months. I was Furious and called management still insisting that I keep it for 6 months. They said according to your contract but I said that I didn't have a contract? They still didn't cancel my account and I will not pay them What A RIPOFF STAY AWAY!
Best wedding site. Helped me with everything to what kind of flowers, what cake. I just emailed the pictures to my wedding vendors. Also loved the community of girls. I am a knottie.
This company is so crooked I have no idea how they get away with what they do to couples and vendors. They lie steal and misrepresent everything they offer. STAY AWAY!

Do not become a vendor for the knot and invest your money in them!
I have never wrote a review before but I feel like I need to write one to help other makeup artists and hairstylists like myself from getting scammed in hopes of growing their clientele.
I was given an interview with Desirae, which the whole time seemed too good to be true. The day of our appointment came where she would be sharing her screen to go over The Knot. I was expecting a presentation on the company's goal and more information on how many clients they take per year, what it would look like to become part of their time but INSTEAD as soon as the meeting started without showing any numbers or credibility, Desirae asks me how much I can spend on advertising. She wanted me to spend $500 PER MONTH on advertising.
It doesn't matter if I make that much per month or not on clients. $500 on just advertising when nothing can guarantee me that I will get clients and without even giving me background information on the company is absurd.
Even though I was not part of their team and can't say that I didn't get clients I want other vendors to pay attention to these details that can easily make you fall into spending $500 per month without getting any leads at all.
Would rather pay for something that is works well. Paying 15-20k for wedding, might as well pay a small amount for the main thing that allows people to rsvp
The Wedding Knot & The Wedding Wire are the very worst. Total waste of money and you will regret your decision.
So, I'm getting married soon. I'm at a complete lost of what to do, where to start, what's good and what's bad. Came across the knot from pinterest and I hated the site. I mean, freaking hated it. In order to see much of anything I had to sign up. Well, what if I don't want to and I just want wedding ideas? To my chagrin, I signed up and I didn't regret it, oh my gosh they're so helpful with lists and countdowns. I signed up with my facebook and they automatically put his name in the "groom" slots. I thought that was super cute. BUT they don't have everything, just some things to get you started a lot of suggestions on where to start and a few tips here and there. They even have an app. These are all good things, but what I didn't like comes next.
Call me bridezilla but I like everything to be in one place, super organized and details just right. When I want to take a quiz on which wedding dress is right for me I want suggestions on where to look, link me to some websites. When I say my budget is $6,000 be reasonable. How can I spend $38 on the grooms tux and shoes? When I see wedding ideas, share how they did it or link me to more pictures, maybe a wedding story link not just an option to like it.
Yes, I'm being a bridezilla I think. But I don't think it's the BEST site for weddings, just a good one. I'm a firm believer that if you want the best, you go to Pinterest. Where you can get it all from one site to a million other in one board, two boards, twelve boards if you need it.
I, too, had the same Christmas debacle experience. Had I wrote this review Christmas eve, I probably would've given The Knot a minus 100 review. However, I also realize that things happen and wanted to give the company a chance to right their wrong. I did a little research online and reached out to the CEO. He immediately put me in touch with the customer service manager, who immediately tracked down my package and had it overnighted. She and I emailed back and forth and they are in between switching warehouse companies. While I was beyond frustrated that I wasn't going to have my products for Christmas, I also understand that things happen that aren't always within our control. 100% the online/phone customer service department did not handle things how I would have wanted them handled; which is why I reached out to higher ups. I know that when I ran a business, people don't always handle situations like you want them to (like you are paying them to). So, in a nut shell, did I have a good experience? No. But I am not going to blast them out of the water because mishaps do happen and they did remedy my issue. The products were beautiful and I got them at a steal of a price. I just printed pictures of the products and wrapped those in a box instead. Once the gifts arrived, their quality was second to none!
I tried to get my business taken off theknot because I never put it up in the first place. Not only did someone put my business as a vendor but they attached a website that was from 2002 that I haven't used since then and I can't access. They left a negative review although they never contacted me stating their was any issues. They said they didn't get all the photos they wanted because I wouldn't take control of their group. Their group had been doing tequila shots since before the ceremony and was drunk and out of control. Theknot will not remove the site even though the site was set up fraudulently. They told me I needed to claim the site and correct the information. I tried to set up a new site with my actual true information. They took the new information and combined it with the old site and only corrected the email address. They will not allow me to respond to the negative feedback because I am not paying to do that. That is why I have always used wedding wire and wedding wire is an amazing tool that is FREE! If there was no stars that's what TheKnot would get. Now I am attached to an account that is fraudulent and hurts my business and I can't even respond. The feedback was left over 6 years ago and I just found it when I did a search to see if I had other reviews on the net. I suggest everyone do the same because you may be listed on theKnot without knowing it.
We have a lot of out of town guests attending our wedding. So, I thought creating a wedding website would be a great way to keep guests informed, I was VERY wrong! When I first created "my website" I was given a unique URL name which I then had printed on my save the dates. This way guests to could check the site for the most updated information as we finished our planing. Fast forward a few months, they switched to new site builder and I am no longer able to access my website to edit it. I emailed The Knot asking if there was any way they could help. Their response:
1. You will have to start your wedding website from scratch.
2. If you have a free URL (theknot.com/wedding/) then you will receive a brand new URL.
Unfortunately the original URL you had will not be transferable to the new website layout.
So, I provided my guests with a URL that now has incorrect information on it and I am unable to update the information. The absolute least they could have done was warn us about the changes that were going to take place. Our wedding is 5 months away, the last thing I was to do is deal with figuring out how to delete an old website and create a new one. Please, if you are deciding between different websites to use to create your wedding site, DO NOT USE THE KNOT!
Answer: My honest opinion... do not use theknot.com for your wedding. It crashes often and can be extremely frustrating. Believe me... I used it and was locked into using it because it was on all of my invitations. My best advice: use weddingwire.com. But, if you're not going to listen to my advice or are locked in and stuck as I was, go to your wedding website (not in preview mode) and click on guest list from the dashboard... well... After 9 attempts, TK will not load properly so that I can step you through it (everything else on my computer works great). Sorry, that's all I have for you. I hate theknot.com!
Answer: Tell them the same thing they say to you when you contact them for help in any way! "I don't think it is in our best interest! You are on your own... Good luck with that!"
The Knot has a rating of 1.7 stars from 390 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with The Knot most frequently mention customer service, credit card and wedding wire. The Knot ranks 79th among Wedding Planning sites.
