I started with the knot right after we got engaged and have been thrilled with some things and not so happy with others. Uploading all our guest contact information was easy and all in one place. I really liked their free website and the fact that when someone RSVPd on our site, it updated their information in our contact list automatically and sent me an email saying who confirmed what. Their website was super easy to set up and all our guests have enjoyed looking at it. We have ordered a couple products from their site, one arrived no problem and the other had to be reshipped because their computer didn't take the full address I entered and I didn't catch it until the second time around, so a bit miffed there. I don't think I would order any more products from them, but the products we did order turned out perfectly and are of good quality. I think my favorite part of the whole site is their seating chart option! I just finished putting together a seating chart for 90 people in less than 2 hours, it was brilliant! Overall, I have really enjoyed working with this website for our wedding planning and have recommended it to some of my girlfriends who are soon getting married as well.
Poor customer service.
Lousy, outdated software.
I had a customer submit a negative review to The Knot. First, I tried to claim my business so that I could reply to the review. The website is broken and would not let me claim my listing. There was no information given on the customer so that I couldn't contact her or even verify if it was indeed a real customer.
I contacted customer support and followed their recommendations to 1) claim my business 2) find out how to contact the reviewer. They provided little help in either department.
Eventually, she left another review on another website so I could confirm her identity and I reached out to her. We resolved the issue. I offered her a full refund. She agreed to remove the review and followed the instructions given to do so.
The review remains and now I am getting run around from customer service which states they have contacted the reviewer and perhaps she has changed her mind about removing the review.
In either case, I should be given the ability to at least reply to the review. I am so frustrated with this fraud of a company. I would never spend a cent using their site to promote my business.
I am a small local entertainer. I went to theknot.com to advertise my company to try to bring in more wedding clients. They told me that their advertisers receive on average, 10-20 contacts from brides per month which would be awesome for me!
I signed the contract and went to work! I built my page, hours of time, but it ends up, any person who would be interested in seeing my page would have to click through at least 12 different links before they found me! I couldn't even find myself on the website without calling them for help!
In the end I hit financial crisis about 4 months into the year contract. I called them and told them that I was having severe difficulties and asked for a solution to get out of the contract early. I offered a settlement so they would receive at least some of the contracted amount.
Their response was cold and heartless. They were completely inflexible. Finally I told them to go F themselves. Even after that they continued running my add whether I wanted them to or not! And they continued billing me whether I paid them or not! For another 8 months this went on! Now they are sending me to collections for the entire amount of the contract.
Do you know how much business their advertising brought to me after an entire year? 1 phone call! And that was just a casual looker.
This company is complete bull! DO NOT ADVERTISE WITH THEM!
I really dislike the knot. Wedding planning is already stressful enough, but when the website that you're working with crashes, it makes things much much more difficult! I signed up the for knot in the beginning of my wedding planning. A couple days after I ordered my wedding invitations to be printed, which contained my wedding website URL, the "guest list manager" portion of the knot crashed! I was not able to access my entire guest list containing every address and email for each person. I was completely relying on TK because I believed it to be reliable at the time. When I called, they assured me it would be back up the following day. 2 days passed and it was still not fixed so I called again and I received the same news again... it'll be fixed by the end of the day. After a week I called again. This time they said by the end of the week it will be back up and going. It is now 2.5 weeks later and it is still not fixed! I have all of my invitations (spent $300 on them) ready to be mailed but cannot access all 120 addresses that I had already inputted! I had to embarrassingly ask all of my guests for their addresses again so that I could get the invitations to them. Absolutely ridiculous! Now I am stuck using the stupid knot because all of my guests are to RSVP via my website that has the URL in each invitation. It'll be an absolute disaster if my wedding website crashes as well! I wish I would have gone with Wedding Wire in the beginning!

We've used theKnot, WeddingWire, Gigmasters (theBash) and GigSalad to promote our band. TheKnot did well for us and then the Covid Apocalypse hit. I would have renewed our contract with them, if it hadn't been for their new "diversity filter." Basically, they give couples the choice to only look at vendors that meet their race qualifications.
Here's the list they sent me:
Black-owned
Asian-owned
Hispanic or Latinx-owned
LGBTQ+-owned
Native American-owned
Pacific Islander-owned
Women-owned
Veteran-owned
If any of those categories are selected as a filter, you won't show up... if you're not in that category. If you're a white male vendor, you'll never be seen. I think they meant well, but didn't think it through. We chose not to renew because of that.
This is a huge violation of privacy. I specifically made the settings private and yet there it is in a simple goodle search! ALL THE DETAILS OF OUR WEDDING FOR THE WORLD TO SEE! I would be own to sue. I have never been so pissed.
I have had a TERRIBLE experience working with them. If you are not a photographer this is not the site for you and DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THEM! You will not get your money's worth. I have asked them over and over to cancel the contract and they refused. I already don't make a ton on weddings and to have booked so few weddings is ridiculous for the amount you pay monthly! I would give them zero stars if I could!
We completely understand your concern. All of our advertising packages require a one-year commitment to ensure a consistent experience for couples, and to ensure that our Pros have the opportunity to be seen by engaged couples at all stages of the planning process. If you would like to further discuss ways to optimize your Storefronts on The Knot and WeddingWire for success, feel free to contact our WeddingPro Support team at support@weddingpro.com or 877-331-7752.
I emailed them to complain that there were issues with my webpage and they blocked me from emailing them again. They give your details to other people without your permission. Stay away.
EVERY time I have used The Knot for a friend's wedding or baby registry, the gifts get lost, don't ship at all, and /or I end up having to ask the recipient for their address. The website should automatically link the gift selected to the couples' address. It's mortifying to go to a shower and find out that your gift was NEVER sent or to find out weeks later from a bride that they never received a gift from you!
Answer: My honest opinion... do not use theknot.com for your wedding. It crashes often and can be extremely frustrating. Believe me... I used it and was locked into using it because it was on all of my invitations. My best advice: use weddingwire.com. But, if you're not going to listen to my advice or are locked in and stuck as I was, go to your wedding website (not in preview mode) and click on guest list from the dashboard... well... After 9 attempts, TK will not load properly so that I can step you through it (everything else on my computer works great). Sorry, that's all I have for you. I hate theknot.com!
Answer: Tell them the same thing they say to you when you contact them for help in any way! "I don't think it is in our best interest! You are on your own... Good luck with that!"
The Knot has a rating of 1.7 stars from 375 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with The Knot most frequently mention customer service, credit card and wedding wire. The Knot ranks 79th among Wedding Planning sites.
