Absolutely amazing idea! This company supply so many different freeze dried fruits that are bursting with flavour! We have probably tried about 80% of their range so far. They supply them in recyclable packaging and deliver in a cardboard box,, they are thinking of the environment as well as their customers. You even get a reward on your birthday! What's not to love!?
After waiting a month for these to arrive I am very disappointed. They taste disgusting, nothing like I expected. I knew they were dried but not to the point of being crunchy with not much flavour left in them. Overpriced and not nice at all.
Website advertises 4 to 5 days but the reality is over 2 weeks. Disappointing responses. My local grocery store started stocking freeze dried fruit for around half the price they retail it as as well, so look around before you buy. And many options are out of stock.
Let's compare apples and apples! Their apple snack contains 26 grams of dehydrated apple which equals 300 grams of fresh fruit. For the same price you could buy 1000 grams of apples which is over three times as much fruit. I just ordered a dehydrator for $50 and will be drying my won fruit from now on.
I saw them on Facebook and liked their message, as well as a chance to try a variety of freeze dried fruits. When I finally received my box month later (with no tracking), all the fruits I received were disgusting! They had a definite chemically taste to them, covering up the actual fruit that they were. I ended up throwing away most of the product and canceling my subscription.
Hi Vickie!
I am sorry to hear you were not a fan of our fruits. In any case, we are always available to exchange a snack should it not live up to our customer's expectation.
Thank you
I have recently found out about the rotten fruit company from my neighbor and decided to give it a try. It did take a while for the shipment given the situation (covid) but we're so happy with the fruit! My kiddo loves the strawberries the best, my favs are the apples! Always handy snack and we're supporting small private farmers. We'll definately be a returning customer!
I was really excited to try this out because of what the company stands for and because of the large amounts of ads I had seen. However, it was super disappointing. First of all, it took over a month to get to me and they used some sketchy app (THAT PROVIDED NO UPDATES) for the actual delivery. When it got here, again I was super excited and was willing to forgive the one month wait but it just tasted terrible. I didn't mind the strawberries or blueberries but the raspberries and blackberries. I don't know it definitely didn't meet its standard. Just be aware that each bag (4 in the box) were about 22-28g which you're paying approximately $7 CAD. Nothing about this experience turned out good so I would not recommend. Just get fresh produce from the grocery store.
I bought "bits" pouches in random flavors, but mentionned in the comment section that I had a preference for berries. I'm really happy because that is exactly what they sent me: raspberries and blueberries. They are delicious and healty! They are really good in yogurt/oatmeal or cake frosting! I am really happy with my purchase even if it's a bit expensive.
I love the ethos of any company trying to reduce waste and help smaller farmers, who wouldn't. My two grandsons love the fruit and it's a great way for them to eat healthily. Tasty, healthy and helping the planet along with helping smaller farmers. I love it. The company are always helpful and friendly too.
I'm in love with freeze dried fruit, and this guys make an excelent product! I find dried fruit soft and sticky and this frreze driwd fruit is crunchy and super tasty. You can use as snach, take it with yogur, add it to your milkshake, even to add color and taste to the salad! There are some sweeter fruits and some sour fruits, if you don't like all the flavours I recommend the custom set or even give it a try buying one or two bags. I'm a customer forever
Bought the mixed box of 16 fruits. Loved every single one of them, signed up for monthly delivery. I've had three deliveries already and have enjoyed everything.
Gave them a try - pretty disappointing. Then got charged AGAIN for another box. Nowhere can I remember signing up for a subscription model. Absolute crooks
Hi Tindal!
I am sorry to hear you didn´t enjoy our snacks. As far as the adjective you used to describe us, that is fairly unfair: All our boxes are available for one-time orders with the exception of the "Build Your Own Box". That box is subscription-based. We do however believe that information is clearly stated on the website, and we also ask that you choose the delivery interval (every one month or every two months). We also have this information stated during the checkout process.
In order to avoid any unnecessary changes and confusion, we also take the time to send out an email about 3 or 4 days before your subscription renews. This gives our customers the chance of canceling the subscription, pausing, or even skipping a box. You can also change the delivery date or set your own delivery interval.
All this being said, should an unwanted order be placed, all you have to do is contact us on Facebook, Instagram, or send us a quick email. Any of these and we will quickly refund the unwanted box and cancel your subscription.
I hope this information helped clarify any doubts you might have and we leave it up to you to reconsider the words in your review.
Thank you
I first tried s few different pouches of the selection month's ago and was convinced I met my match be it strawberry or banana or other I'm a customer and a good one.
I've only had one Subscription box but was very happy with it and have added a few more pouches to try as well as getting another box. Going to try baking and making ice cream with my next box.
I recently had a fantastic experience with The Rotten Fruit Box. This amazing company sources fruit from local farms that would otherwise go to waste, freeze-dries it, and passes on the savings to customers like me. I was truly impressed by their mission and the quality of the items I purchased.
I decided to try their Bits and Pieces pouches, which turned out to be a great choice. Not only did they offer a variety of fruit, but some pouches even contained larger pieces, which was a pleasant surprise. What's even better is that these pouches were discounted!
While my main intention was to get their loquats, I couldn't resist exploring their other offerings. And let me tell you, the loquats did not disappoint! They were crunchy, light, and perfectly sweet—everything I had imagined. I even experimented by rehydrating a few loquats in my drink, and the flavor was even more delightful.
Despite the distance, the shipping was surprisingly fast considering it came all the way from Portugal. I placed my order on May 27,2023, and received it on June 7,2023. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and with the company as a whole. I'm already looking forward to my next order from The Rotten Fruit Box!
Tip for consumers:
Don't hesitate to order. Worth every penny!

Great idea to help fight food waste.
Sensible compostable packaging and great tasting fruit. I have tried 4 different flavours now and they have all been yummy.
I placed an order for the mixed sampler because I wanted to use the fruit in my summer drinks. It works really great for that and they really do have a great product. Three months later, with no forewarning, I got an order confirmation for another box. I reached out because I didn't understand what was happening. They said I had sign up for a subscription. I don't remember doing that, but okay. They said they would cancel it for me. Then I got the shipping confirmation. I explained I still had plenty of product left and didn't need more, and they sent me a link for recipes. The point wasn't that I didn't know what to do with the stuff, the point was I didn't really need any more product.
I spent a half hour looking everywhere to cancel my subscription, but couldn't find it, so I wrote back asking they cancel my subscription and that I didn't want anymore shipments, and any further charges would be disputed with my credit card. That's when I got a super snarky response that they already said in the FIRST email they would cancel it for me. I thought they meant the shipment, but they meant the subscription.
If this is how they treat people confused by their process, vague communication, and surprise shipments, it can't be a well-run company. Buyer beware.

I opted out of the subscription and ordered a single box to give this fruit a try. I liked the story and mission behind this company and who isn't looking for healthy snacks, right?
I decided to try a virety of the fruit so I ordered strawberries, raspberries, apples, bananas and peaches. The strawberries and peaches were recommended by other customers on the site so I made sure to include those in my choices.
It took about a month from when I ordered for it to arrive. That seemed fairly reasonable considering the site was warning about a 5 day shipping delay and a Canada Post strike although many others were complaining about shipping speed.
I was excited when my box arrived but that kinda dissipated when I started opening the pouches. I started with the peaches, when I opened the pouch it didn't smell like peaches but like some kind of tea and they tasted just like the smell. Rather dissapointing.
The bananas were the same but they do have a slight banana taste. A bunch of the banana slices were stuck together and they crumble when you try to separate them.
The apples were also disappointing in flavor. I like the shape more than the standard apple chip but they lack the flavour compared to other brands I've tried.
However the raspberries and strawberries are really quite delicious. The only problem with them is a lot if them got smashed in shipping, theres a lot of red powder in the pouches.
I'm not sure if I'll order again but if I do it will be a strictly berry order and I wouldn't go with the subscription. It's a nice treat but I'm not sure the cost and benefits are balancing.
Hi Julie!
I am sorry to hear that your first experience with us wasn´t the best and we didn´t live up to your expectations. There was a Canada Post strike that impacted shipping times considerably for our Canadian customers. As far as the snacks you didn´t enjoy, send us a quick email and we will have them replaced for something else or for the same fruits, should you wish to try again. As you mentioned, they are some of our most highly rated fruits. Thank you
Great products, the freeze dried berries are my favourites. Nothing extra, no additives, pure berries and fruits.
Great company and amazing freeze dried fruit! My favourite is the cinnamon apples. Bonus: You get a free pouch on your birthday, how cool is that?
I've had a great experience with this company. The fruit is always delicious and packaged with care. Would highly recommend!
I love their product! Their prices are great, they have a good delivery time and it tastes great. Everything they make is good for snacks or baking.
Tip for consumers:
The subscription is wonderful, they email you discounts but they dont email you so much that it’s annoying

I have enjoyed the quality of fruit snacks provided by the rotten fruit box.
They provide a relatively healthy, and tasty snack
I loved my freeze-dried berries. My favorite were the blueberries and Verry berry pouch. Would highly recommend!
The quality is great, but it is a little expensive so I always buy when the products are on sale which there are lots of.

Hi Asmoda!
I apologize if we didn´t communicate our shipping speeds correctly. At the time you ordered one of our boxes, due to overwhelming demand, we were talking about 4 to 5 days to ship orders out, and that was the notice on the website. However, the 4 to 5 days is the time it took us to send your box out. It did not include the actual transit time that varies depending on where you live. Two weeks is the normal time it might take a box to arrive. I am sorry if our website didn´t make that clear.
