I have ordered 100o of dollars worth of animal from this website. They rarely are in stock even though they are available for purchase. The finals I ordered often don't look like the pictures online. They are different patterns than what I ordered. I ordered an Axolotl and the picture of them were baby albinos. I instead got a juvenile wild tripe axolotyl. This is not what I was believed to order. They refused to give me credit for the mistake on their part and just said that their Axolotls varied in color and they couldn't do anything about it. Even though they initially noted that it was their fault and they would make it right. They will only give me free shipping on if I place another order but they are out of everything I want. They don't communicate well and own the majority of the reptile websites so they have a monopoly. I have had trouble getting my new animals to eat when I get them. They have been extremely helpful with ideas to get them to eat raven though I can't tell if they are eating. They give excellent husbandry advice but they are over priced for the actual animals I received.
I received a hatchling that was in poor health, I used the company's portal on their website to message them, and then proceeded to call 10-12 times over the course of 2 days. During the week. My goal was to just find some support on what to do to help this hatchling out. I was lucky enough to receive help from a Facebook. I then sent an email directly to their support email address telling them that I had been attempting to contact them and was disappointed with their service. I Finally got an email back, and heard nothing back but excuses, using the pandemic as an excuse, which I get to a degree, but they never once took any personal responsibility. If the pandemic is causing this company to not provide adequate support for their customers, they should not continue to ship live animals until they have their problems resolved. They responded to my google review, after we had communicated saying that they answer all calls that come through, which is bogus, because one of the common denominators of all of their negative reviews, and some of the positive, are that they never answer their phone. They still have not sent all of the items in my order, and have not provided any more information about it. In my opinion their riding the wave of increased orders because people are home because of the pandemic, regardless of how their customers are supported. There are plenty of reputable people out there, that care for their animals, and their customers. This is not one of them.
Brian has been an amazing guy to work with! And I really want to thank Tortoise Town (TT) for giving me one of the most beautiful creatures I've ever owned. In the weeks leading up to my purchase I was doing my research as a potential owner, and I was coming across a lot of misinformation on the web and AI sites like ChatGPT. I decided to reach out to TT via their general contact form on the website for clarification, and Brian got back to me the same day via text message and gave me the clarification I needed. In addition, I was also undecided between two very similar species of tortoises, and Brian helped me decide which one was right for me and explained the different nuances between the two species. When the time came to ship my little guy Apollo, he arrived early the next morning. I gave Apollo a nice warm soak immediately and then spent the next couple hours giving him shell rubs and a comfy space for him to take a nap from his long journey. It wasn't long before I started to realize that he had a very sociable and sweet personality :) I had expected him to retreat into his shell for most of the first day or two upon his arrival, but retreating to hide was the last thing on his mind. Within hours of his arrival he was already walking all over a warm spot on my bed and stealing hearts amongst all my friends lol :)
Thanks so much Brian and TT. I am so so happy with my little man!
I'm very satisfied with the customer assistance and service. Most of all the care of shipping of my male Leopard tortoise he arrived safe and very healthy. Thanks very much
I do not recommend buying animals from this company. My partner and I have had a negative experience from the day of purchase.
When ordering, my partner put the incorrect sex. We contacted Tortoise Town (with great difficulty, as the customer service is practically nonexistent) for a sex change. We did receive a response that the sex would be changed before shipping, and my partner was charged for the sex change.
Next, the chameleon didn't arrive on time. No big deal, but a TINY amount of customer communication could have went a long way for this issue. When the chameleon finally (and randomly!) arrived, she was not the he that we had just paid extra money for. We tried contacting the company once more, and have not received an e-mail within a month.
We assumed the issues were done once we received the chameleon, but they were not. This company sends a hatchling, which ideally would be kept a few days to ensure the animal will eat (and therefore, survive) and to prevent additional stress. That is not what happened, as we assume the chameleon was hatched and immediately put into a box and shipped (reminder, we did not get the luxury of knowing she was being shipped and a live animal would be on our doorstep). Luckily, we got the few day old reptile inside. Low and behold, now she refuses to eat and barely drinks.
THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY.
After posting a review, I was blocked from their Facebook instead of providing any customer service. DO NOT BUY!
Disappointed.every one of my orders was 'not in stock'….
Had zero problems ordering and receiving our new lil tortoise 🐢.
After several contacts, my order was finally shipped two weeks later. Also, I paid extra for a male and female but I received two males.
But my Leopard Tortoises seem heathy and happy.
Thank you guys! The turtle arrived safely and packaged was nicely done, I'm looking forward to ordering more turtles. Thanks again turtle town!
We ordered a turtle and received a tortoise. We ordered a hatchling and received an older adult. We paid >$400 and expected a healthy tortoise, instead we received one with pyramiding, worms, and evidence of improper feeding and humidity. We paid for many items that we never received. If you read independent reviews (not the ones *they* publish) you'll see many many heartbreaking stories of people receiving the wrong pet, and sick tortoises that die. Look on Tortoise Forum, this site, don't look at their site and Facebook page where they control the reviews.
When we contacted them about how they sent the wrong pet they said, "no problem, the care is the same." UM- the care for a box turtle and tortoise is the same? Not at all, they clearly know nothing and don't care.
When we brought our pet to the vet for a check up she said he was basically a rescue, and luckily that we got him because he would have died in the care he was getting. He had a respiratory infection, 4" long worms... $500+ in vet bills later he might never recover and my poor kids are traumatized to see the pet they love still sick.
Please do your research and find a reputable breeder or rescue a turtle or tortoise in need of a good home.
