I enrolled in auto refill because of a discount offer of $5.00 per month. After signing up, I did not receive the discount. I added my credit card information and the offer "magically" disappeared. I called customer service and no less than 3 people hung up on me when I tried to get the issue resolved. Now, I am trying to get a refund for my entire service and disconnect my service. Please be careful with this company. They are extremely unprofessional. UPDATE: The problem has been solved. I was given what was previously promised and 2 months free service for the inconveniences. I have a few old tracfones, but no chargers for them. Taken to local computer electronic repair store, they dont have chargers. I contacted the company Traceone; they want to sell me new phone. I just wanted to send them the phones and have them charge them for me and return to me. They cant or won't do it or couldnt figure out what i was asking. Next time i want a good prepaid, i'll go to tmobile. Shame i have info in those phones and cant get them started.
Tried to activate two new 'refurbished' phones I bought off their site. Phone number one was a number transfer. It almost worked. Everything transferred but the number. Called customer service and after 1 hour and two cs agents phone number one was up and working. Now on to phone number 2... again tried to activate the phone over the web site. The site told me to call customer service. I did and they were able to activate phone number 2 but in the mean time they de-activated phone number 1 - the one with the number transfer. Called customer service and after 2 hours and talking to th I still haree cs agents I have an inactive phone that they cant fix. If I was able to do everything over their web site I wouldn't have had to deal with the off shore customer service department and I have two working phones.
I know this company has the ability to credit minutes, data, texts. They refused to transfer over my phone number and give me my minutes and data which I rightfully paid for. If I transferred my phone number, they would cancel my new package minutes. BS! I asked to talk to a manager and a woman representative refused to send me to a manager. I call back a minute later and I'm magically talking to a manager. Don't think that's coincidence. Shady company with shady practices. Avoid at all costs.
The rep canceled my phone during the original call and I had to call back to activate it. Somehow they were able to give me a new phone number and starting over again, and are now working on restoring my minutes, texts and data. (hasn't happened yet). Yet they couldn't transfer over my original number and give me my minutes!?! How screwed up are their policies and systems?
I sent a Samsung 5G back to tracfone because it died. (Screen showed an odd checkered pattern and then went completely dead.) I bought the phone in Sept and it died in Dec. Using the UPS tracking number, I can see that tracfone has received the phone a week ago. I have called them four times and they have the same story. "You will receive a new phone in 3 to 5 days after receiving an email with the return tracking number." BUT I NEVER RECEIVE THE EMAIL OR PHONE.
(I can see from other reviews that this is a constant theme with tracfone. It is obvious that they will not replace their guaranteed phones in any kind of timely manner.)

I've was a previous customer of 'Assurance Wireless', which is a 'FREE' Government Phone. I've had problems with the phone over heating when charging, which causes the battery to 'expand', and caused me to buy & replace several batteries, and finally the phones screen went 'WHITE' or blank. So I thought I'll try 'TracFone', the first phone cost $40.00. When I received it, I placed the 'SIM CARD' into the phone & attempted several times to activate it, to no avail. So I ordered another phone from them for a little over $100.00, & received the same results. So lastly, I searched online for a 'Disposable' phone. Google suggested 'Tracfone', & it was the cheapest phone, a little over $40.00. So when I received it, it seemed promising. The apps popped up & I was able to enter my own secret code, but when I attempted several times trying to activate it, the final attempt stated that ( I have the WRONG SIM CARD). TOTAL WASTE!

I have multiple audio recordings of Tracfone, Total Wireless, Straight Talk and Simple Mobile representatives lying about promotions they offered but refused to honor!
They do not have the best or least expensive plans or the best phones and have THE WORST customer service reps who hang up on you so you have to start all over with hours and hours of explaining even when you try to explain to the next representative that you need a different department and to be escalated.
They prey on impoverished people. They short service at least one day every month if you sign up with auto refill. I signed up with auto refill and they started pounding me with text begging me to put another service plan on a week before it was due then charged more than I authorized, cut my service off 48 hrs early when I asked for a refund and I lost all my rollover time.
You will not receive consistent service with them no matter how much you pay. Your service will drop for hours at a time at least once a week. I have spent hours and hours and hours with technical support from each of these companies. Their chat links dont work.
They will spam you in text and email too!
I'm writing this to warn people, in hope to save you a lot of aggravation by staying away from these unethical businesses!

I e-mailed and called multiple times, talked to Maria, Bernadet and 2 other guys and was told would get replacement phone in 3 to 5 days every time I called. Never received anything. Trac phone omits vital information. They say unlimited text but if you send or receive anything by text message like a picture or vcs file it is no longer a text and is considered data alo you can not send or receive a text containing anything other than ABC or 123 via internet connection and have to use mobile data also after only having the problems from the first minute of service and then telling them that I want to leave they tell me I have to pay a fee to get them to unlock my phone that I just took to them. They are scam artists No other phone carrier data within a text as counting against your data especially if you do it via internet and then charge a fee to a brand new account also the internet speed is incredibly slow and knocks you off anything. My wife is the one that switched us and she paid a year in advance and they say she will not get any of that money refunded. TALK ABOUT A SCAM!
I was a tracfone customer for 20 years. There have been small bumps along the way. Recently i bought a new 4g tracfone to replace a 3g tracfone. I tried to transfer minutes (over 5000) to my new phone. I had difficulty and called customer service. I was told the problem was difficult. I cajjed 3 times and was "disconnected" 3 times. Problem unresolved. I kept my cool never insulted anyone. I lost over 5000 minutes and over 4,xx gb. I am through with tracfone
Recently TracFone merged with Verizon and I was disappointed and tried going with Consumer Cellular which was a disaster. I got upset with TracFone because of the process of merging with Verizon but I ended up going back to them for help. They were wonderful and sent me a brand new Motorola cell phone. They then walked me through the process of switching my old cell to new cell. Customer service reps were fantastic and patient with me as I am 73 years old and my hearing was not so good. Long story short...HAPPY CUSTOMER!

While visiting the US, we bought a Tracfone Sim Card to use in our phone... we paid the one year price to have a permeant number in the US so all future trips would include phone service locally. I purchased the card in Boise, ID, Traveled to St Louis to visit family and the phone stopped working without Wifi... I called into Customer Service and was informed that the reason for this issue is that Tracfone has no service coverage in St Louis! WTF! I was told they have coast to coast coverage! She offered to troubleshoot the issue for me, But if I have no service then I'm just wasting my time. What a F****G Joke. This is a scam phone service. Run. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Just RUN.

I have been a tracfone customer for over 15 years and the situation I am currently going through with tracfone has completely turned me off. On Dec 19th I contacted tracfone to transfer my old phone to a newly purchased tracfone but it took hours to connect and I still had problems. I was told to send in the new phone and they would replace it. Once they received the phone they would send out a replacement w/in 3-5 days. Here it is the end of Feb 2022 and still no phone. I have called every week to no avail. I paid $132.00 for the new phone, the returned phone was refurbished and resold to someone else and i have nothing to show for it after making at least a dozen phone calls to various departments to remedy this situation. They are in denial and still no phone. I HOPE NO ONE ELSE HAS TO GO THROUGH THIS. Cathy G.

Their customer service agents are nothing but a bunch of "CANNOT SPEAK ENGLISH" A**HOLES". They hang up on you when you call them for help or other issues. I also had quite a bit of minutes that they deleted from my account thus forcing me to purchase additional to continue service! SO, purchased new "unlocked" phones (both myself & hubby) and switched to another carrier. AGAIN, BIG HASSLE keeping phone numbers---Tracfone didn't want to release my information!
THIS IS A GOOD ONE- They work off of an ISLAND somewhere way way out in the Ocean.! You have no LEgal recourse to receive any refunds, exchanges, or legal prosecution of any kind.
CONTACT your Local STATES ATTORNEY GENERALs Office, (Every state has a WEB site) File a Consumer Complaint with them, that will be your only hope... If you don't complain - They will keep it up if they can get away with it! PROMO CODES is part of their SCAM!

I had 6 gigs of data and in 2 weeks I had no more data left so I had to spend 10 dollars for another data card when I had cricket wireless and my 30 dollar card with unlimited talk and text and 2 gigs of high speed internet I never went through the 2 gigs of data in the month

I've been a Tracfone customer for nearly 20- years. Never had any problems buying a new tracfone replacement, transferring service and phone number in all that time. Now, for 7 days, I've called customer service to activate my new TRACFONE phone, up to 3 x a day with no resolution. I used to be able to do so without customer service before, all online, but now I get transferred from one dept to another and eventually told to call back or mysteriously get hung up! It's sad, something is so terribly wrong with Tracfone. I'm not sure but it seems like the company may be closing its doors, as it is impossible to get any problem resolved. A simple activation, (when you have been a customer for 20 years), isn't possible any longer. Is Tracfone trying to tell us something?

I recently went through that migration from AT&T to Verizon as Verizon bought Tracfone. I was told that getting the new migration SIM would be literally just swapping new with old and voila! It wasn't voila!, it was no service. Even after doing what was just sending a text to ******* or what ever. That was a service call nightmare. That took several hours- pretty much all day for them to get me working again. Luckily I'm retired and have the time for this. One feature that I used occasionally was the hotspot feature. It worked very well under AT&T. After the painless migration of having several days of NO service, the Hotspot went from working a few days to "setup up personal hotspot". This time I called and must have been passed along to at least 7 different reps of varying skill levels, not including having my call dropped twice and having to start all over again. Press this and press that number… I had two reps saying that the feature was no longer available now. Some did not know how to fix it and some said that it only worked on iPhone (which is what I have), managed to get it working eventually. They got it working flawlessly and a week later it went back to "setup up personal hotspot" again. I would rather enjoy a root canal than spend my day trying get them to try and fix it again. I've had tracfone for years but hey REALLY their support is simply worse than awful. If your service is working fine, I can say that the coverage isn't too bad otherwise.

It is a week later my phone still does not work and the credit card company is interceding. Now we are asking for all 3 charges to be refunded.
Someone from Straight Talk ( not Tracfone) called and said it was because I wrote a poor review. The first thing out of this persons mouth was he had to call someone to work on my account because his login privileges were revoked, He said he would call me back in 15 minutes. After two hours I left.
In addition Tracfone asked me to write a review which I did. It was truthful and unflattering. They sent the following response:
'Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time!"
I would think they would have written something like. We are sorry for your problems we are going to assign a technician to fix your problems. Well maybe they did but it was three days after I filled out Tracfone's review form
I am going back to Consumer Cellular. They have great customer service. My friend who had suggested Tracfone has to wash and wax my car... twice.
I purchased a sim card on their website. The website was malfunctioning and sending 404 errors.
I refreshed the page four times. Their system charged me for four items for a 125.00 item
I called immediately asking them to cancel the three extra orders which were in processing mode. The customer service person told me she could not cancel the order, but I could refuse delivery. She then said I could return it. In the mean time was charged an extra 100.00 for an error in their site.
Always sending messages that must be checked so after checking being charged you find out its from FACEBOOK someone you never met eats up all you're minutes I think they running some scam with Facebook if I could get customer services I complain but I don't have any minutes so they get you coming and going (HOW FAR SHALL I BEND OVER SIR)
I seem to have the same problems as many other users - phone number cancelled even though I purchased a full year plan - when I tried to find out what had to be done to restore service I could never get an answer from the many of the contacts ( over 4 hours of frustrating non answers) I finally got my number restored and had to start with a new service - I lost all of my accumulated minutes ( over 5,000) and the remainder of my contracted time. I have been a customer for 24+ years and their customer support is horrible. You will never be able to talk to anyone that can resolve any problem - they always direct you to a phone that can't answer a question, speak with an accent you can t understand ( on purpose?) and put you on hold a dozen times. It is too bad that tracfone can't get their act cleaned up - the concept of having a fairly inexpensive cell phone to use occasionally for emergencies and while traveling is great for the older generation that doesn't have cell service at their residence. I asked if I should seek council - I was told that their legal would call within the hour - I'm still waiting 5 hours later! I wonder if it's time for a class action?

When I call on my Tracfone the name that appears on caller ID is not mine. I have made numerous attempts to have this problem corrected but the other name remains connected to my phone. Why this happened and how it can be fixed seems to be of no concern to the tech support people. Each time I call them I must go through all the same details over and over with no corrections. I have had to talk to operators with little understanding and waited for call backs that never came. I was told it was a glitch but that hardly explains how their programs could do this to my phone with no specific instructions from me? What a crappy service!

So now I have learned that to use another ID, not your own, when calling calling on your cell phone can be determined to be fraud. This is a federal regulation resulting in a 10,000 dollar fine, per instance. I have tried again just today to insist that Tracfone to fix this as it is not due to actions taken by me. I am being told I should change the ID on this device myself. So all this is very curious to me, as I told the agent of the phone company, "what is to stop anyone from switching their ID anytime to anyone?" does that seem like a working function on any US regulated phone? Well I spent a fair amount of time trying to do what the rep. Had said I needed to do to fix the problem, guess what? There is no such function on my phone as the name window isn't interactive by the user! How can these people stay in business?
