I called TransUnion this morning (11-11-22) between 11am - 12:30pm about what I believe was an unauthorized attempt to obtain credit using my name and credentials. I spoke with a woman named Dee in their customer service / fraud dept. I was thrilled to actually speak w/a human being, and even happier with the level of service I received from Dee. I'm 59 years old, have had CCs for 40 years and as far as I'm aware, this was the first time someone has tried to steal my identity. Dee was very patient w/my questions and concerns and provided thorough answers as well as reassurances. As a customer, I'm grateful that she's on the TransUnion team - and as a business owner for 19 years before recently retiring I'm sure TransUnion is also very grateful Dee is part of their team. Thank you. M Judson
Decided today to request a credit freeze from all three credit agencies due to the recent massive data breach. Managed to place a freeze with Experian and Equifax online in less than 2 minutes each. After 5 attempts with TransUnion, where I was repeatedly thrown off of their website, I decided to call customer support. I've now been on hold for 20 minutes. Added bonus...you have to press hold every 30 seconds to stay on the line. Sorry dudes, you suck. Now I'm gonna select 2 for a call back. What do you think the chances are that that will ever happen?
Transunion not only is horrible by the sheer reality of its existence, it also can't screen applicants for background checks correctly. They ask you "what street did you live on?"
You answer. Correctly.
They tell you you're wrong, so they ask you another question or set of questions. "Oh I know this! Easy peasy" except that it's not easy-peasy. It's difficult... smifficult because TransUnion hates us and wants us to die of stress trying to complete a rental application. They love your rage, they feed off of it because they're run by just 1 guy living on Staten Island named Colin Robinson.
Tip for consumers:
Honestly the credit bureaus inflict so much human misery there is no way I could possibly offer any helpful tips to ameliorate that.
Have been trying for 72 hours to unlock a credit freeze for a loan. Can't reach anyone by phone and the online form says they will send an email to reset my password, but nothing is coming, have filled out the form 3 times, it says could take 24 hours, and still nothing after filling out for 3 days. They need to fix their web-site.
I wanted to order a credit report, not a recurring subscription.
I used their service 3 years ago, and only today I'm realising they stole hundreds of dollars from me, because they continued to charge me $20 each month for a service I wasn't using, and didn't realise was recurring.
Usually when I order documentation online, it doesn't come with a recurring fee.
I guess the lesson here is... No matter how reputable the company, don't give them your credit info unless you're receiving a physical product.
It's just a simple problem that gets my credit report. It took me 4 hours and still haven't got the answer for. They keep transferring my call and then hanging up the phone if they don't know the answer. Extremely unprofessional.
They have a system issue that they have no idea when it will resolved, so I cannot get my account unfrozen, therefore, anything I need that requires a credit check cannot be done. The customer service person could care less of the problem this is causing consumers. This is a major credit reporting company & this is just NOT acceptable!

They bill you without any warning when you sign up and then make it virtually impossible to cancel. The phone number they have on their cancellation page doesn't work so you can't call them. I ended up having to find a direct link on Reddit in order to cancel the recurring payment. Bunch of thieves. There's also no way to print the report from the site you just have to print the entire webpage. What a joke of an organization. Do not recommend.
Completely and totally INEPT. Can't log onto the website. Takes HOURS on hold with an agent who is difficult to impossible to communicate with. And still trying... They must be playing games... no business could be this disfunctional.
Tip for consumers:
Try another service....Transunion is not working.

Nothing....doesn't work
I reported a stolen wallet. Since then I have received Little to no assistance. I have spent 3 hours yesterday trying to fix this. I cannot hear or understand the agents.
They keep asking me the same questions over and over. Even if I say that I do not have that info,
I asked to speak to a manager twice and I was disconnected by both representatives.
So I will be telling all the seniors I know about this dismal care I got from your company.
So I better not get hacked as I have reported the fraud and if I cant get help from you... what do I do to protect my information?
In my experience with this company, they will decrease your credit score quickly with usage by larger point swings than if a payoff occurs. They are very slow to report the payoff and the increase in your score is typically less than half of the decrease in points for usage for the same amount. Ive also had a decrease in my score for a large payoff amount. This is by far a credit reporting agency working hard to keep consumers paying higher rates than they deserve.
I've been trying to tell you for years that I was and have been the victim of identity theft/fraud. Your company has done nothing to change it. You instead continue to victimize me. I sent to you office a notarized letter proving my identity, you STILL refused to have any open communication with me. Your agency is a bull and a monopoly who does NOT care about the consumer. You only do what you do now for customers because Federally enacted laws now require you to do so since your industry didn't know how to police itself.
I watch all 3 bureaus on a daily basis and I see my ccu going down and the other 2 companies go up by 5 to 10 pts and once a month for about a week transunion just drops my score by 35 pts or whatever they want just to mess with me. I truly hate this company and have no idea how or where they get there algorithms
Tip for consumers:
I would get your score from all 3 agencies before applying for credit, this company can really mess with your life, I mean really badly.

I don't use there product, they are a credit reporting agency who seems to be way off the other 2 agencies..they are bad
I've been a subscriber for more than 5 years and til this day they have not yet updated my score. It's been the same the whole time. Customer service is a joke and the website and app are totally useless. The ONLY reason I haven't canceled my subscription is to have the ability to lock and unlock access. It's honestly a shame that we the people of America are forced to be stuck dealing with such a company for our credit/loan needs.
I called in because i saw a huge drop on my account since my balance went down (which supposed to bring my credit score up) i had no negative impact whatsoever. After one and another transfer I talked to this guy trying to tell me because i have a balance (which i said lower than months before) is the reason why my credit went down. And didnt want to listen to me and tried to cut me off. We paid for our service, not begging so do your job and get better customer service. You guys are too big of a company to have those nasty workers
Tip for consumers:
Dont use them. Just request free report or talk to consultant if you need to. These people act like you are piece of $#*! and dont give a tiny respect to you

Customer service
I put a dispute and nobody contact me for asking for any proof to support my complain and after a fee weeks I received the conclusion saying that it looks that everything is correct in my credit report and nothing can change being my bad mark a lie.
So your trying to figure out your score to try and better yourself...
That will cost you $25 & your score that you worked hard for just got knocked down 15 points, those 15 points will take about 3 or 4 months to get back.
I was the looser for using there service.
Tried opening an account after a data breach and the service was down. Tells me I need to call a specific number to get help and only get the message, "The customer you are trying to reach is unavailable".

Transunion can't seem to get it right with hiring their customer service reps. Please hire Americans. It sucks when you have to deal with foreigners who can barely speak English. I wish I wasn't force to give even one star!
TransUnion was requested to run a background check on me as I am cosigner of a loan for my son & daughter-in-law. They carelessly used my incorrect middle name, and the report came back with all sorts of false information. My application was consequently denied. I requested TransUnion to run a dispute claim, and they stated that it would take 30 days. This was way too long for the real estate agency to make a decision.
I just called TU to retrieve access to my account. The person at the help desk had a very thick accent and was difficult to understand. I try to remain calm on a tech support call, because these people have it tough enough on calls. However... when was not able to understand what this person was instructing me to do, I'm sure some frustration came through in my voice. He proceeded to chide me when I told him that I was following his instructions when he asked me to type in the same the same thing three times. This made me feel like I was somehow working for him. So I just stayed calm and did what he asked no matter how many times he repeated himself. Finally I got into my account and he couldn't hang up fast enough. Wow... was this the antithesis of customer support or what?
I called to get an explanation of why the Experian and Equifax scores were not updating. Frustrated with my lack of understanding, the "customer service" rep actually caught an attitude like a high school girl, and then subsequently HUNG UP ON ME. Yeah, great way to spend $30. If you don't need help, the site is great.
Tip for consumers:
You should be very self sufficient if you intend to use this site. The people on the phone were not trained properly and you will ultimately be left no better off than before the call.
Must agree with some the other reviewers regarding the accuracy and applicability (that's applicable to your credit life) of TrueCredit services. I ended up talking to 'member support' service to complain about the credit score(s) provided, as the scores are totally bogus. What? How can that be? Allow me to give you an example:
As reported by TransUnion Equifax
TrueCredit.com 931 (94%) 990 (98%)
Fico.com 707 (<50%) 701 (<50%)
Question: So how is it my FICO score is less than the median US credit score of 725, while my "Vontage" TrueCredit score is in the upper echelons of 94%-98%?
Answer: Yes its true, TrueCredit.com makes up credit scores that have nothing to do with FICO scores or with reality.
My advice, stay away, do not waste your hard earned $$
They have given my score at 100 points then it is. I called to them and after not answering any questions for the automated part it does transfer you to a person that will ask you for your information so they can check your score. The catch is they will tell you if it matches what you have but not tell you your actual score. I will be calling a lawyer for the false report and the conversation we had. Stupid company needs to be based for false advertising n false information they give out.
This is the most worthless credit reporting bureau of the three. You can spend hours trying to get into their site and then can't get your free report. If you finally do get a report they tell you, your score is not available. They should not even have one star.
The government should step in and do something about this.
Lied about being a free trial. The charged me twice and i didnt get my credit report Called them and they were rude and hung up on me. Finally got a supervisor. Same rude attitude. They refused to refund my money. Stay away from this site.
I've maintained an account with TransUnion for many years (along with the other two credit reporting agencies) for purposes of maintaining a credit freeze on my account. Today I logged on to do a temporary lift, a routine process. During login, 2FA sent a code to my e-mail, but I delayed in getting back to the web to enter the code. Due to the delay (I presume), it "temporarily suspended my account". I called to resolve, and after talking to several reps, including a supervisor, was forced to just give up without resolution. They insisted that I didn't have an account, despite that "my account was suspended". The supervisor was impatient, rude, and condescending. I am not sure if TransUnion outsources support, but I can be sure that the organization does not value customer experience. Zero stars.
Tip for consumers:
The site is fine, and if you don't need service or support, you'll be fine. The experience is comparable with Experian or Equifax. But if you do need support, and you must call them, you may find that the customer experience is poor. And you may be unable to resolve the issue. This organization just does not value customer experience.
