UncommonGoods has a rating of 1.8 stars from 338 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about UncommonGoods most frequently mention customer service, credit card, and christmas gift problems. UncommonGoods ranks 695th among Gifts sites.
My son religiously pops a bubble each day when he returns home from work. Without your bubble calendar, I would have to fashion one up myself, at great frustration. So Uncommon Goods offers us a compact, fun-filled activity certain to make any household function better. Just wish the price were less!
So I used to buy from this site - used to. Last order, the snuck in a "perks" membership. By the time I see my credit card bill to pay - it's past the 30 days to cancel. This is just fraud. Memberships should be a proactive choice, not a sneaky charge. I'm done with this company.
I ordered a few items for the first time from the site. Items were, suffice to say, unique and looked like perfect Christmas gifts for my more unique friends:)
Had one item get lost in transit and received a prompt and courteous response and after giving it time, a replacement was promptly shipped. Fantastic item and very satisfied with it :)
Ordered a Christmas gift on 20th December. Reached by 30th December. Kinda defeated the whole damn point! And when I contacted them via email, they took minimum 2-3 days to respond with a very lukewarm 'will look into it', 'is in transit, I will ask why it got delayed' and then no reply after that! Pathetic customer service.
Ordering a unique game seemed a good idea and I didn't check reviews ahead of time. Item arrived on time, packaged well. Item was rather crudely made for the price - not to my American old lady standards, but I remember a time when standards for most things were higher so I've made allowances. In addition to some shoddy woodworking, small pieces, described in instructions, were missing so I decided to send it back. Phone personnel didn't understand, couldn't understand and seemed disinterested, dragging the process out. I sent an email saying, "... Never mind; I'll just keep the item; I have little hope that the replacement will be any better." Got no answer to my email. Had to pay to have UPS pick up return (I'm disabled, live alone and don't drive so can't "drop it off at UPS".). So in the future I will do without "unique" items and stick with Amazon which works hard to satisfy this customer.
We're sorry to hear about the troubles you encountered. We certainly don't want you to be stuck with a sub-par product and would like to help you return the game. I can verify that we have responded to all of our emails. Sometimes our responses get filtered out and sent to the SPAM folder without the customer realizing that we have replied. We'd love to help you with this return. Feel free to contact our Customer Service managers directly at csmanagers@uncommongoods.com or call us at 888-365-0056.
I ordered a birthday present from Uncommon Goods on December 2nd with guaranteed express delivery (19.95 additional) by December 21st. The package hasn't even shipped, and their customer service reps (chatbot and India call center) keep lying and saying it's about to ship. I would avoid using this company. They are not the end manufacturer/company. They present an edited collection of goods. I would HIGHLY suggest you find what you like on their site, google it, and then order from the actual company. Save yourself a lot of wasted time, money, and hassle.
Update: They cannot provide tracking numbers for 'customized' orders, so they can't even confirm when it will ship let alone arrive. Uncommon Goods is unprofessional, at best.
Tip for consumers:
Find what you like on Uncommon Goods, google it, and order directly from the supplier/company. Uncommon goods is just a reseller with very poor tracking and customer service.

Hi there, so sorry to hear you are having trouble with your order. Please call us at 888-365-0056 so that we can look into this matter further.
I couldn't be happier. It was a custom made piece, a 1 of 1. Hard to beat that at this price! They clearly state that it takes some time, so don't worry about the other reviews here. It's not Amazon, mass produced goods, people. I believe I was quoted 6-8 weeks, and received my item right at the 7 week mark, which was a nice bonus. I had a few concerns, and their customer service is top notch. Something weird with tracking numbers, and an email I didn't get in time, but they responded very promptly to my inquiry and fixed the problem. I will be shopping with them again when I need another one of a kind gift.
When ordering a new reel for your reel viewer, do directly to the vendor Image3d.com, NOT Uncommon Goods. I learned this lesson with some pain but all is resolved now, and I did receive a $15 gift card. Thanks, sitejabber!
Eileen, I'm so sorry about that! I've messaged you privately to request a bit more information so that I can look into this for you.
Uncommon Goods has failed miserably. I ordered a piece of jewelry, paid almost $200 for it and have gotten nothing but runarounds from their customer support. They claim to have shipped it out three times but the tracking numbers supplied are not responding. Now that Christmas is passed, I no longer need this gift (had to buy another item), and have told my credit card company to pull back the money. Run from this company/do not walk!
Oh, that's awful news, Katherine! Please reach out to customer service directly if you haven't already and ask for a supervisor. They can be reached at 888-365-0056 or help@uncommongoods.com. We're looking forward to hearing from you!
Thinking of ordering something from here... do it! The products offered vary so some take longer than others to ship, however, you can track everything online and they will give a ship by date which I appreciate, saves from having to reach out to customer service especially if it's a gift. Shipping times were prompt, they try to pack as much of the order into one box to avoid multiple shippings and less waste. Prices are fair, photos and descriptions are accurate, and they have some great gifts that were indeed uncommon and definitely hits amongst my friends and family! Highly recommended! (They can even gift wrap most items and can ship one order to different addresses/locations!)
I really want to support Uncommon Goods because of its mission, support of small businesses, and diverse workforce. But four times now, after carefully curating packages, their website has just eaten my transactions. I've spent hours on the phone trying to straighten out my orders. Customer service is nice but completely incompetent. Figure out your website QA, y'all; busy people don't have time to waste on your 1997 tech.
Hi A.M. -- We are so sorry to hear this. We'll be happy to further assist you and look into the status of your order. Please email your order details at: feedback@uncommongoods.com. We look forward to hearing from you soon, stay safe and have a good evening.
Flat out lied about the shipping time for my very overpriced product, ordered and paid for on 12/10, told 4 days after I was supposed to receive it that it REALLY was 12/28, and if I don't want it, I get to spend another $14 to ship a $10 overpriced product back.
Fool me once... Never again. Buyer beware.
That sounds like a terribly disappointing experience, Jim, and we're very sorry. We've sent you a private message.
I would give no stars if that was possible. Made a purchase at the end of November and indicated delivery would be on or before 12/18. Checked my order and it indicated it shipped and would be delivered by end of day on 12/18. Didn't receive it. Emailed customer service and they responded that they would expedite things and hopefully it would arrive by 12/24 and they would keep me updated. Never heard back. Contacted them again and they responded that the item still has not shipped and would not be sent before Christmas. They apologized by saying this is a busy time of the year and so these types of delays are to be expected. I ordered it a month ago! Really unbelievable how they just downplayed the entire thing and then blamed it on being busy. Stay away if you have any type of expectations for a delivery date.
Good afternoon Kevin. We are so sorry to hear that you did not received your delivery on time. We apologize for not providing enough insight on the situation. I will email you privately for additional assistance on the matter. Thank you for your patience!
I needed several items all to go to different places. I thought I had it set up correctly only to realize I was having things sent to me instead of the person I wanted to get it. The CS team at UncommonGoods jumped in and made it all right even though 1 item had already shipped to me. They appreciated my business and told me to enjoy it. It is now hanging in my dining room. Thanks UncommonGoods
I ordered my wife a gift from here on 12/6/22 and it was supposed to ship by 1/10/23 and as of today I have yet to get any updates, emails or anything from this company. I wish I would have read these reviews before I ordered. Not happy at all!
Tip for consumers:
Order products a few months before you need them or good luck!

I purchased the wall hanging chess set and sent it to Ireland as a birthday gift. The
Recipient is just thrilled with it and was very excited to receive it. Most of the houses
There are very small and don't have room to leave things sitting around so this was the
Perfect gift. Thank you for offering this unique present!
"The customer service, personalized artist services are the worst ever. I am beyond disgusted with this company and discourage anyone reading this to go someplace else. I ordered a personalized gift, the proof took a week after it stated it would, the proof had incorrect information, I had to call 9 times about my order, on hold for 15 minutes each time, until someone got a manager to "take care" of the order. I then received a 2nd proof that was again incorrect. Never again. Spent way over $150 for garbage."
Thanks for letting us know about these problems, Jonathan. This sounds like an incredibly frustrating experience and I'd like to look into this personally and see if there's anything we can do for you. I'd appreciate it if you could email us your name and/or order number to help@uncommongoods.com (address the email to Jen, please). I'll keep an eye out for your email. Sincere apologies, Jen
UncommonGoods is that online store I like to pull up when I have my coffee, and some relaxing time to myself (I have 2 monsters) so I can browse the many "aisles" of cool stuff they offer fully... as it should be enjoyed. So many very fun products to research - every product pic looked at, every description read. I enjoy it! I also have experienced exceptional customer service for my orders. I take my relaxing moments when they come (usually during naptime), helped by Uncommon Goods.
First of all, I love their unique and weird gifts. It makes shopping for my family or husband so much easier. I ordered some gifts for Father's Day. I followed the tracking and it was finally delivered by USPS. However, when I went to get my package from the mail room, it was not there like it said. I called Uncommon Goods customer service and was immediately speaking to a real person. They apologized for the situation. My problem was resolved within 5 minutes, they resubmitted my order and shipped it express through UPS (obviously no cost to me) AND refunded my original shipping costs that I paid. Although I would have loved to receive my package when it was suppose to originally come, but I was so impressed on how their customer service quickly and efficiently handled my situation, which was USPS's fault.
I've ordered from them 3 times. Once it was excellent - a custom made product - at it was fantastic. The second time was a jewelry item, and it was not as nice as was pictured. This last time, it was a candle being sent elsewhere for a birthday gift. It never arrived. I had to contact customer service a few times regarding to issue, and they said,"oh, it's out of stock!" Would have been nice if they had told me, two weeks before the birthday came and went. Then the refund I was supposed to get never arrived. After multiple follow ups with customer service, finally got the refund. Disaster. It's like they were just hoping I would forget so they could pocket the money... I won't be ordering from them again.
Hi Mudita! We are so sorry to hear that you had this experience. Because of the recent circumstances, we've been a bit delayed in our response time and did not intend for you to have this happen. We're glad you finally have the refund. I've emailed you privately to see if there is anything else we can assist with. Stay safe and have a good day.
My daughter received a lip balm kit for her birthday. The instructions were missing from the kit. I spoke with customer service, they said they would email the instructions. 6 days later I check on the status of the email and it is supposedly "in cue" to be sent. An urgent request was being sent the customer service rep to have the email sent. 17 days after the "urgent" request was sent, I received the instructions via UPS. It sounds like customer service can talk all they want, but the company does not back them up.
That sounds really frustrating. I'm sorry to hear about this. I've uploaded the instructions for you and you and your daughter can find them here: https://support.uncommongoods.com/entries/98784628-Lip-Balm-instructions
Thanks for letting us know about this problem!
I have not ordered anything from this company as of yet. I have called five times and spoken with five different people about five different items I would like to have purchased as gifts. Not one person could give me any more information on any item than was already in the catalog. On two occasions I gave my name and phone number and ask to have the owner call me. The first time I received a call from someone I am guessing was a secretary. She said she would get me information on one of the items in which I was interested. She did call me back later in the day but had no more information than what is in the catalog! Their reviews are not good and my gut feeling is not to buy from them.
Hi Mary! Please email me directly so we can work this out together: jen@uncommongoods.com
I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
I wrote a negative review regarding the garden bottle kit I received from my daughter for Christmas. It didn't produce herbs as advertised. I thought sharing that info with others was the end of it but then I received an email from Uncommon Goods saying they were sorry for my bad experience and offering to send another kit or refund the money. I requested a refund and just received another email stating a credit would appear on my daughter's card in 3-5 days. To me that shows excellent customer service. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them in the future.
I really don't understand why the ratings are so low! I ordered 3 items from the UncommonGoods on the 3 separate occasions. 2 of them were shipped before the delivery date (one of them I received just today, even though I ordered it 4 days ago and this is on the last week before Christmas!). For the third item I was notified by the email that the shipment will be late. It was meant to be a gift so I decided to drop off on that and asked for a refund. Their customer service responded within 10 min. They fully refunded me and told me that I can keep the item when I finally receive it.
I really appreciated it! Good job guys!
Ordered $450 worth of Christmas gifts from Uncommon Goods. All but a $25 item to be sent to one address. They shipped the $25 item via FedEx. The balance -- $425 was shipped by an unknown carrier and got lost - never delivered. When I asked for a reshipment they said most of the items were out of stock and well, "just too bad". Silly me to think they would prioritize a $400+ order. Never again.
Tip for consumers:
Ensure they use a reputable shipper

I do not recommend ordering this. While the concept is good the quality of the pages is horrible. On most pages you couldn't even read the print & articles were cut off.
We ordered two books that we thought would be worth the 100 plus dollars for Christmas. They can't even commit to reprinting and getting them back to me by Christmas. This is very disappointing

We ordered custom embroidered socks for our sons for Christmas. We never received a confirmation by email or USPS. When the socks did come, one pair came with the name incorrect. When we called, customer service, they said that it wasn't their problem. They would not replace the socks, but they would give us half off replacement pair. So... in spite of their neat ideas, execution is poor; and they won't correct their mistakes.
We'll stick with a major retailer of clothing and outdoor equipment here in Maine. They understand customer service and do it exceedingly well.
We’d like to look into this a bit further, David. Please send us a private message with your order info and we’ll get to work. We’re looking forward to hearing from you!
