My son religiously pops a bubble each day when he returns home from work. Without your bubble calendar, I would have to fashion one up myself, at great frustration. So Uncommon Goods offers us a compact, fun-filled activity certain to make any household function better. Just wish the price were less!
So I used to buy from this site - used to. Last order, the snuck in a "perks" membership. By the time I see my credit card bill to pay - it's past the 30 days to cancel. This is just fraud. Memberships should be a proactive choice, not a sneaky charge. I'm done with this company.
I have ordered several different types of items for myself and for gifts. The quality is always excellent, and I have never returned an order. The catalog description is very accurate with pictures that show the item clearly. I am pleased to recommend Uncommon Goods for gifts to yourself and others that will always be well received!
I love the items in this catalogue -- however I ordered a special gift item and they claim that UPS made one attempt to deliver it and then brought it to some sort of service center for pick up. I have never heard of this policy and if it is the policy = 1. It should have been detailed when checking out, and 2. They should use shipping vendors that don't have such absurd policies. I have my own catalogue store and use USPS and NEVER have this problem.
This company is co fishy... Placed an order and thankfully, decided to check the status of it, just to notice that my order was canceled with no warning. I contacted customer service, just so they can tell me that it was the system that canceled the order for being "fraudulent" but yet I never received any email saying anything of this... also... "the order was canceled by the system" but didn't refunded me my money. Beware, they are trying to scam you.
Hi Florencia, we are so sorry to hear that you order was flagged for fraud and canceled. We would be more than happy to look into this further. I'll follow up in a private message to get a bit more information from you.
I used to love this site. They have unusual things and I usually find something for Christmas gifts. This year I ordered right after Thanksgiving and got my order confirmation back. I waited and waited but never got a shipping confirmation. So I called - must have been holiday help because no matter how I explained that I wanted to know when it was shipping, the woman helping me just resent the order confirmation. I waited a few more days, then called again. This time the woman said it would ship out around Dec. 10th. I heard nothing - called back a third time around Dec. 12 th and this time I was told they had no idea what happened to the order. They were delighted to reorder for me - but unfortunately the items I really wanted were no longer available. When I finally got the few things I did order I found that the one item I had ordered 4 of were not as pictured in the catalog.
Items next year are going to have to be awfully good for me to want to try again with this company.
We'd love to look into this and discover why your order shipped later than you were told. Unfortunately, this review site doesn't give us enough information to locate our customers in our database, which makes it difficult to address concerns properly. That said, we'd love to make this right. If you haven't already, please contact our Customer Service department at 888-365-0056 or help@uncommongoods.com. We'll do our best to turn this experience around!
I bought a customized pillow for my godson for $153! They never sent a proof of the product. After almost two months of no news from them I sent an email requesting the status. They sent me proof of the product and the last name of my godson is misspelled (which completely misses the point of a personalized gift), I asked them to correct the problem or refund me. They claim they can't do anything because the product is "in production" - just to be clear it's a pillow and the production cost is probably $20. My godson's last name is also very simple and the misspelling is really unnecessary. They refuse to correct the problem or to refund me. I contacted customer service 4 times and never got a satisfactory answer. Complete scam. Take your money to more serious sites or just buy at your favorite local store.

Over the years I have been "gifting" from the Uncommon Goods Catalogue, I have found gifts for my very diverse family... all beautifully crafted, thoughtfully packaged and promptly delivered. Customer service folks are unfailingly knowledgeable and professional. I have come to rely on Uncommon Goods and have never been disappointed.
I am always hesitant to order from a new site - so I started out with just a few items. I was so very pleased with the products, packaging and shipping that many of my loved ones have been blessed with items from this site. The unique, well made and gorgeous quality of the products have me totally hooked!
Got the 100th Bday book (NY Times) for my grandma, thinking it would be something she could actually enjoy. The book costs $100, so you would think for that price, you would bet getting a VERY high quality product.
Turns out the print is so small not even a 20-something year old can read it without a magnifying glass, let alone someone who is 100.
Also - 90% of the pages are in black in white, yet their catalog online shows clear pictures in color.
They won't let you return the book since it's personalized, and are now trying to claim there was a 'printing issue' which there isn't - it's simply a bad product.
Very misleading advertisement and terrible customer service. Will never buy a single thing from this company ever again.
We're so sorry that the New York Times book wasn't the perfect gift! We cite information such as dimensions in the details tab of every product we sell. The artist isn't able to print these books at the original size of the newspaper (22"x13.5", later reduced to 22"x12") because of extremely high costs, but they've printed the books as large as they're able, which is 15"x12.5". The paper didn't start printing the first page in color until 1997. https://www.nytco.com/who-we-are/culture/our-history/
I see that our customer service team has been in contact with you about this. Please let us know if there's anything else we can do for you!
I bought the customized New York Times football fact book for my son's birthday. In the dropdown for selected team, I apparently clicked Jacksonville instead of Indianapolis. However, because I paid with Paypal, their system didn't give me a preview page before I hit "purchase" (it's a glitch they know about!). So as soon as I saw the error upon buying, I contacted them. Guess what? Because it's a custom item, there is absolutely no refund or changes, even though it had been less than 5 minutes. But they will give me the amazing opportunity to buy another at only 1/2 price! Biggest ripoff ever! It's as if they've set a trap by having the page not work correctly, then they try to get another 50% out of you because you really want the item. I don't want it that badly.
Hi DeeDee! We are so sorry to hear that you had such a poor experience. We'll be happy to take a look and assist you further. We've emailed you privately. Respond at your convenience and we'll take it from there. Stay safe.
I ordered a cute product through this website that arrived as described. However, I also was magically signed up for some Perks program that started billing me 20$ a bunch. Mind you, my original purchase was around $25. Very deceiving. I'm sure I didn't uncheck something in the order process, but this is a BS marketing tactic to eek out some extra money.
Products used:
Pug pillow. Deceptive marketing practices. Started billing me $20/month for some perk service.
Hi and thanks for posting Susan! It looks like you opted to try our uncommon perks membership for free for two weeks and get unlimited standard shipping. If you were unable to cancel via the link in email, please reach out to us via help@uncommongoods.com for further assistance.
Ordered two prints one of them supposedly was shipped and delivered to my son's home on June 7th. Never received any kind of email stating shipped. I had look myself checked with my son he never received the item. The 2nd print I am finding out today that I will not receive it until 6/26 well after fathers day this one is for my daughters partner. I did receive a call from the company the voice left is nothing but a a phone hanging up. I have called multiple times left on hold only for the voice mail to say there are no available operators to speak with you please leave a message which I did. Still no call back sent an email no response back. My credit card has been charged though. Terrible business
Hi Robbin! We are so very sorry to hear that you've had such a bad experience. I will email you privately for some additional details in order to assist you. Stay safe and have a good day.
Misleading shipping
A major membership perk advertised by uncommongoods is the free 3-5 day shipping is not close to the amount of time it will take to receive the product. There are two separate ways it will take long, both of which are not stated clearly, and lie only within the small text.
First, the businesses have 2-5 days to actually ship it. You will recieve an email when the order is "on its way" but do you think you're going to get it in 3-5 days -- NOPE. There's another second small print in a different location that says they have 24 hours to bring the package to the Fedex and only then does the 3-5 days start.
I chatted with customer service and they were awful, on saying that I was confused and that the package will be delivered on time (which is the absolute last day with all the fine print included).
So yeah, awful customer service. The shipping is meant to be misleading and don't think that you're going to get it by 3-5 days. It can be more than double that time
Tip for consumers:
Know that the customer service doesn't give a $#*! about your experience and that there's loads of small print when it comes to shipping
Hi Eleanor, I was able to pull up your order. I see that this shipped out on Tuesday, 3/1 and delivered on the fifth business day - Tuesday, 3/8. Please email help@uncommongoods.com if you have any questions or concerns. We're here to help!
I ordered a custome picture I just got the wrong one shipped I called to let them know and they made me feel like it was my problem!
They need a new vendor for the custom prints this is unacceptable especially around the holidays. I can only imagine someone else opening my box expecting their print. I wish I would have read these reviews first before ordering! Ick!
We're very sorry, Rebecca. This is not the experience we'd want anybody to have. We've sent you a private message.
Enjoyed my experience with Uncommongoods. Shopped around the website for new ideas for birthday presents for my 3 sisters. I made the order and the delivery came on town with no issues. Merchandise was what I expected and the sisters were happy when they got their gifts.
Placed an order a week out from Christmas which is plenty of time for most eCommerce sites to pick, pack, and ship an order from a well managed warehouse. Paid for both priority fulfillment and shipping. Some items I wanted to buy were listed out of stock, so I limited my purchases to those in-stock. No communication 2 days later so opened CSR ticket. Rep said he would re-submit the order with express shipping for a delivery on the 23rd. Still no email confirmation. After 5 CSR conversations later, they say it will be several days after Christmas to ship (more than 1 week) and some of the items are out of stock (original were not).
They have some nice an novel items but if you want them in less time than 2-3 weeks, forget it. They are slowwww...
Thank you, Uncommon Goods! It's easy to make a customer happy when everything goes right. The fact that you made me happy and satisfied when everything went wrong is a tribute to your customer service team and company in general.
I sincerely appreciate how you handled my problem during this busy, crazy, Covid exasperated holiday season. It is unnecessary to get into the long details of what exactly happened. Sometimes things go wrong. What matters is that several members of your customer service department stepped up. All my grumbly e-mails were promptly answered, and you took the initiative to solve the problem in a professional, timely manner.
You have won over a customer for life and I certainly will strongly recommend your company to anybody in search of fun, unique and creative items.
I never received my order. I called and spoke with someone, and they said it would arrive before Christmas. I find out later they never sent it, and the item is on back order for months. I find this out days before Christmas. Oh well, guess you don't get to give your kiddo this gift! Infuriating! Will not shop with this company again.
Hi Tiffanie -- We're so sorry to hear this. We'll be happy to offer you some additional support! Please email your order details directly at: feedback@uncommongoods.com. We look forward to hearing from you soon, stay safe and have a good day.
The gifts were unique and enjoyed by those who received them.
I have an issue with one of the switch plates that doesn't work very well... its off a bit.
Things can be a bit pricey but overall, I loved how different they were.
One more thing... I received one box that was supposed to have all of the items in it and it did not. I called and naturally assumed I was going to get the run-around. I did not. I received the missing items a few days later. (I cried)
I placed and order and the order was confirmed. A week went by and I finally received and email for shipping of part of my order. Later that day I received another email stating the res of my order was cancelled due to being out of stock adb discontinued. Really?!? They wait a week to tell me they cannot fulfill my order? I still do not have my refund and now it is too late to order these items from anywhere else. Extremely disappointed with Uncommon Goods. This was my first time ordering from them and will be my last!
Hi Jen,
We're so sorry this happened to you. We found ourselves unexpectedly out of stock of a few items and unable to procure more. Please accept our deepest apologies. I'd like to look into your refund. Can you send us a private message so we can make sure that your refund has posted?
- (other) Jen
I am very disappointed in product. First, Basil only sprouted a few seeds, Cilantro was even worse. There were only 2 weak sprouts that couldn't be used for anything. I did get 1-2 small leaves but spout was so weak it collapsed. By the time I paid shipping etc. these 2 mason jars cost me $60. Very disappointed.
Hi Lynn, We'd love to correct this for you. Please email help@uncommongoods.com so that we can further assist you. We're here to help!
Ordered a Christmas gift for my family on November 17th with the hope that even with shipping delays the order would arrive in time for the holidays. Order confirmation said it would arrive by December 16th but I never received a tracking code or any further updates from the company. When the package didn't come customer service couldn't explain why and couldn't tell me whether the order had even shipped. Two days later they emailed me blaming the artist and saying the order hadn't even shipped. It's now Christmas week and the order still hasn't shipped. I was very excited to give this gift to my family but now I can't even get an explanation for what happened or a refund from Uncommon Goods...
Hi Dominique! Thanks for posting, we're so sorry to hear that you had this issue and confusion on the timeline of your order. We'd be more than happy to further support you. When you can, please send your order details to: feedback@uncommongoods.com or email us directly here. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
I purchased this item as a gift and I was very happy with my purchase except the frame was cracked when I received it. The customer service team was wonderful in assisting, communicating, and sending a replacement. Thank you for your excellent customer service!
I ordered a large, expensive framed print and it came with a piece of debris caught between the glass and the matte. I felt I paid too much for it to let it go so I contacted customer service and sent pictures. They were very easy to work with and shipped a replacement. I returned the faulty one with a pre-paid label they mailed me and they refunded my initial shipping cost. I had no problems with them at all and they were very willing to make it right.
I ordered over $600 worth of goods and I received a box today it came in damaged when I called customer service he proceeded to tell me that it was my fault and that he could not give me a refund or exchange any of the items that were broken one of the most horrific customer service experiences I have ever had
Hi Grace! We are so sorry to hear this. We'd love to get you a solution. Reply when you can here with your order #, billing or shipping address or email us directly at: feedback@uncommongoods.com. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Stay safe and have a good day.
We all know that the mail system during the holidays of 2020 has been struggling. I ordered a Christmas gift from Uncommon Goods on black Friday, and it got hopelessly lost in the mail. Customer support said if I didn't receive it by December 18th, they'd expedite shipping through a different carrier. I received the replacement item on December 19th, and I'm sure I'll get the original shipment sometime after the holidays. Uncommon Goods went above and beyond - many thanks to them and happy holidays! <3
Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Brooklyn, NY, UncommonGoods offers remarkable designs by independent makers, and we do it with a positive impact on both people and our planet. Check us out at www.uncommongoods.com.
I'm sorry for the frustration, Mary. UPS started using access points back in 2015 and retailers such as ourselves have no control over whether a package is delivered to an access point or not. We recently added a new shipping partner and have seen a decrease of packages being delivered to an alternate address.
