This company does not typically respond to reviews
I read all the bad reviews. Sorry to hear of all the troubles. We rented a log cabin near Gatlinburg. The cabin was as nice as pictures showed. I had to call them about a serious maintenance problem on second day. They responded quickly and worked until the problem was solved. They answered all phone calls no matter what time of day or night. I was pleased when THEY suggested to review our problem for compensation. I did not have to ask. They reimbursed me very fairly for my inconvenience. Maybe the local company they team with in Gatlinburg is extremely efficient. I would rent here again.
I wish I had found this site before we booked a trip through the Vtrips site. I read all the charges and fees before I did the final booking which included only taxes and cleaning fee. There was no line charge for a V trip booking fee of 127.06. They apparently book trips for Jackson Mountain Realty who were agreeable to refunding our money within 24 hours of our trip, which was in their cancellation policy. However, when booking, it is not disclosed that Vtrips is a separate company and charge a separate booking fee, whether you cancel or not. This fee and information was NOT there when I booked. We tried to dispute the chg with our credit card company, but V trips sent documentation showing that the booking fee was disclosed, but it was not. So we will not be getting our money back. They are unscrupulous and I'm sure rip off a lot of people this way. Don't book through them!
I reserved a condo through them in July for a four night stay in Sawgrass, FL for the March 2023 PGA tournament. They contacted me yesterday and advised me that the owner is now requiring a 7 night minimum. We cannot make that change, so they just abruptly canceled our reservation. The closest accommodations now are several miles away in Jacksonville. They do not even deserve one star!
I will never do business with this company again. I reserved a condo in Maui for a family vacation. We needed two condos in the same complex. VTrips canceled my reservation out of the blue, forcing me to scramble to get another property. They offered me a smaller property a 30-minute drive away from the one I booked with them. I guess they can claim that they tried to compensate me. I had to pay more money to get a property in the same complex as my family. As bad as the reviews are, I'm surprised that VRBO still allows them to use their site. Trust me, I will be complaining to them as well.
If you try to rebook for a later date, all the prices are double, so you end up paying twice as much. VRBO, Airbnb, offer refunds for COVID19. I asked for ANY same period in 2021 to replace a 2 week stay in St. Augustine I had paid over $4700 for, and Justin could not give me one at that price. They were all over $6K. I'm sure they have their hand out for stimulus money as well. Very dishonest, very poor customer service.
I booked through VRBO and had 100% refundable if canceled before September 8. Received an email from Vtrip Wanting me to sign saying if I cancel after 48 hours I would lose my deposit and first half payment. That's not gonna happen cancel and look elsewhere. Getting conflict information from VRBO and Vtrip. They have proven to be untrustworthy.
I am so disappointed in this
I am so disappointed in this organization and would never recommend them ever. Everyone is aware of what is going on in the world except V-trips.Our flights were canceled by our airline, so we couldn't even get to Maui even if we wanted to. I called 3 times, sent an email and never got a response. I canceled by leaving a message and then got an email later stating that we can have 50% of our money back or reschedule our reservation but have to use within a year and it had to be decided within 72 hours. We go to Maui every year and will never ever use this company ever. The lack of compassion and understanding shown during this pandemic is so sad.
Susan,
Thank you for your feedback. We would like to apologize for the disappointment. If you would like to reschedule or cancel please contact us at reviews@vtrips.com for assistance.
How this company is still in business I really do not know. Wish I had read all of the negative reviews before booking with them. We booked a unit in Sea Place (St. Augustine FL) in early January. Yesterday, less than 48 hours before our scheduled arrival they reached out to let me know my vacation unit had experienced significant water damage. This unfortunate event is of course out of their control and not their fault. How they handle these situations IS though. We were given 3 options:
1.) Another unit roughly 30 minutes from where we were supposed to be staying at an INCREASED RATE (no offer to cover the difference, a portion of the difference, etc). I was told that none of the rental owners will accept a reduced rate. So, they would rather make ZERO dollars as opposed to a few hundred less than their normal rate for a week? Maybe some, but all of them? Hard to believe.
2.) Another unit roughly 30 minutes from where we were supposed to stay but for only 6 days instead of 7. (another bad option)
3.) Cancellation and refund (how are we supposed to find another place to stay 24 hours prior to our scheduled arrival?)
It is evident that not much effort is put into resolving unexpected issues that arise. Really poor customer service. You can do better with other rental agencies. I would note that this is the first review I have ever written online but hope to keep others from making the same mistake I did by booking through Vtrips.
As an employer there is a lot of favoritism of management over the maintenance crew. The seasoned employees let the new employees do all the work but then complain about the quality.( Not sure how you can mess up screwing in lightbulbs)
Don't follow the employee handbook as far as 90 day integration, coaching, training and what not... at will is exactly that at this company.
Though the wage is posted all over in their help wanted ads, they write you up if another employee sees your pay.
This company does not follow EEOC, OSHA practices or plain morals. They charge customers for full price on equipment reinstalls when they are just using cleaned up used models. Not to mention the management collects the scrap metal for his own cash.
Tip for consumers:
Do not apply unless your an brown noser
We rented a condo in Jacksonville Beach, Fl. The property was disgusting, it stunk, the water coming out of the taps smelled like rotten eggs and death, there were stains all over the rug and couch, the patio was so dirty you could see footprints where you walked, the patio furniture was so rusted I wouldn't even dare sit in it, and to top it off the slider did not lock. I called maintenance and they couldn't get anyone out that evening to fix it. I was staying there with myself and my 15 year old daughter and did not feel safe. We left and let them know immediately. Still fighting to get my refund. The customer service has been terrible. I would never book with them again.
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience. Your comments are being reviewed by senior leadership. Please email heidi.green@vtrips.com if you have any additional feedback.
We have booked a trip to St. Augustine FL. The boarders are closed to the state of FL we cannot get in. Called VTrips to cancel our reservations and they will not refund us. The country is in lock down, now we have travel insurance but the COIVD-19 is not covered? Wouldn't this fall under state of emergency? I will never book again through this company. They are scamming individuals that are unemployed. My bad is that we did not do our research first. DO NOT USE VTrips
Hi Brian,
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your business and would love to help with your reservation. We are offering to extend your travel dates to any open dates all the way into 2021. If you would like to move your travel dates please call our local office.
5447 Atlantic view St Augustine is represented as a palace on the beach - it's seriously falling apart. They are charging hefty rent fees on the allegation that the property sleeps 21 (barely sleeps 14 for sure!) and it's gourmet amenities. Had serious issues that were immediately spotted on check in. Despite the multiple calls, frustrating customer service, in person visit to their local office about the lack of response and frustration during vacation. They had our 7,400.00 rental fee for the week - they just left us to fend for ourselves and even fix their property in order to enjoy it. Property was not cleaned properly, sheets were dirty in a few of the beds we encountered and they leave you nothing extra to help yourself. The rental had insufficient towels, sheets, blankets, garbage cans missing and no recycling cans; riddled with roaches (even in our beds), had two broken beds, wasps nests on the front porch - all kitchen pots pans were rusted and garbage worthy, the only baking sheet was rusted, chipped mugs (all 7 of them); broken entry door - which we ended up fixing to feel safer since it became clear after waiting three days that nothing would be done about it. We had to purchase bottle openers, glassware and pans in order to cook. No WIFI as promised on the website; of the 9 tvs in the home only two worked. The house's landscaping and surroundings were un-kept and riddled with garbage; front and rear porch lights were not operating. Overall the property has great potential but it's clearly run down and not maintained at all. Do yourself a favor and stay away.
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are glad that we were able to talk with you about your concerns and that we were able to reach a resolution. The concerns you listed in your review were of upmost importance to our senior leadership team.
I will not rehash the issues with VTrip's poor customer service. They required me to sign a 14 page legal document for a one week stay in Maui (should have been a clue). The governor of Hawaii is not allowing out of state visitors. The contract is very pro management company and very unsupportive or specific on the guest rights. They are offering me a 50% return of $650 (which is not much more than all of the add on itemized lines in the receipt: cleaning, insurance, etc.), so they stand to lose only $130 by returning 50%. If I rebook (which I am not confident as to when that will be feasible) they are not open to returning and then rescheduling my 2nd and 3rd payments based on the new arrival date.
Frankly I don't understand why they are able to list on VRBO. They are not the owner of the property being rented (I checked the Hawaii real estate database).
In this day and age of COVID I would recommend avoiding this or any company with a no cancellation policy.
Charles H.
Charles,
Thank you for your feedback. We understand your frustration during these times and are trying to do everything in our power to resolve issues. Our standard policy, as stated in your confirmation paperwork at the time of booking, is a full refund within 48 hours of booking. After that point, there is no refund. However, we have changed that policy during this time. We are offering to move dates to anytime during 2020 and 2021 with no move fees or to provide a 50% refund. This is not our typical policy, but we felt strongly that we had to do whatever we could for our guests and owners. Vtrips are the property managers for the owners. We will handle everything for the owner once a booking is confirmed.
***WARNING*** DO NOT BOOK WITH VTrips! If anyone is looking to rent through VTrips PLEASE take the time to read the reviews as it looks like other people have experienced similar experiences. We rented a house in St. Augustine for May, 2020 as we were planning on attending a wedding on 5/23. The wedding was cancelled and we thought we would still go on the vacation but there is a ban on FL beach rentals which has been extended twice. Vtrips will not refund us given this unfortunate situation. They offer only a chance to rebook for a future date and they have doubled the rates for future dates which proves they are a scam and bad business.
Hi Amy,
Thank you for your feedback. We would like to take the time and apologize that you will not be able to enjoy that special memory in Florida as you intended too. We would love more than anything to welcome you to enjoy your vacation. We understand that this has been a crazy time for us all. Unfortunately, as you stated we can not accepting bookings onto Florida at this present time, but we are here and willing to help you schedule other dates for a later time. We understand that prices can change depending on the time frame but rest assure we are here to help. If you would like to take a look at a few more date options please contact our local office or email us at reviews@vtrips.com
We rented a chalet from this company for April 3-7. Due to the coronavirus we was quarantined and couldn't leave our state Tennessee was also quarentined. So we ask for a refund they offered me half or get another chalet. I couldn't do another chalet because we do a family get together and we didnt have anymore vacation days.So needless to say he tells me either take another chalet, half your money or none of your money your choice. We still haven't gotten our money back. That will be the last time me my family or any of my friends ever use this company. Keep your money people this place just ain't worth it.
Tip for consumers:
Stay away from these greedy people, once they have your money they dont care about you anymore.
Hi Malinds,
Thank you for your feedback. We apologize you were not able to make the dates for stay due to the pandemic. If you have elected the option for a 50% refund the money is typically credited back to you within 3-5 days depending on your bank. If you like I would be willing to look into this matter for you. Please feel free to email us at reviews@vtrips.com
This is the worst company! Do not book never and nothing with them! They canceled our house before we should to check in. We came 4ppl in florida from chicago and we recieved at 12pm an email that our house is canceled!
Hi Ariadna,
Thank you for your review. We apologize that we could not keep your booking. Florida's Governor has extended the ban for short time rentals in phase one of reopening. We wish you could proceed with your stay. We understand your frustration. We are here to help with your vacation rental needs when the ban is lifted. Please feel free to check some of our other areas that are currently renting.
This has to be some of the lowest life people working at VTrips. They will not give a refund on a house rented in Ponte Vedra Florida for the week of 5/3/20 with the beaches closed and a 14 day quarantine set by the Governors office due to the Corona Virus. Sorry its policy? PROFITS BEFORE PEOPLE. I HOPE YOUR BUSINESS FAILS.
Hi Lawrence,
Thank you for your feedback. During this time we are handling all reservations with care. At this time we are working with guests who have up coming reservations within the next few days. So we may give each guest the best resolution. As your date is a little time away we you like to still give you the opportunity to extend your reservation to any open date in 2020 or 2021. If you would like to pick new dates please contact our local office or you may email reviews@vtrips.com.
I don't even know where to begin! Had a reservation for March which was booked in early February. Had to reschedule those dates into October due to COVID-19. I have left several messages, emails and after 3 months I heard back saying no refund even through there are travel bans between countries. They have had my entire payment for this trip since March.
My travel companion is coming from Canada. They can't even travel within their own country, as the borders between provinces are closed and if you do travel there is a 14 day quarantine.
Now I'm being told to change my dates again and 90 days before the booking in October. How am I supposed to know what will happen in 90 days. Florida could still be a mess! I even purchased the insurance but that won't even help me. So, I get to change my dates again and due to the fact that it will be most likely be next year, prices will go up. So, they will have my money for a year! All I want is my money returned. At the point where I may need to call my attorney.
Please don't book through VTrips. I booked through vrbo which Vtrips used to advertise their properties. I hope vrbo drops them!
Very poor customer service.
C. B.
Thank you for your review. We would like to apologize for your recent experience. Currently, the area our vacation homes are in, Florida has no restrictions, all pools, beaches, and shops are open. Based on our current COVID refund policy you do not lose your money paid in. You are able to use apply it to any reservation dates your choose. Please feel free to contact us at reviews@vtrips.com so we may look into your reservation to help find the best solution for you.
I have tried to contact Vtrips 4 different times to try and reschedule my reservation because of the COVID-19 Presidential stay at home order. They use an answering service to handle me wanting to move my reservation dates. However, no one has gotten back to me. If I don't hear back by Vtrips I will getting a lawyer. DO NOT USE VTRIPS!
Hi Eddie,
Thank you for your feedback. I would like to apologize that no one has been in contact with you. Please feel free to email us at reviews@vtrips.com. So we may assist you.
We recently stayed in the celebration cabin during fall break with 2 other families/friends. We arrived about an hour earlier then noted check in time and found the doors unlocked. We went in and found that the foosball table had one side panel laying on the floor but it was still operable. We did not call to report this (mistake one). Nor did we take pics of inside of cabin when we arrived or left (mistake 2 and 3). Overall stay was good. Upon leaving we washed all the dishes and microwave was in full working order. Almost a week later we are getting told we are being charged $500 for foosball table and for microwave door being ripped off hinges. This is complete bull crap! We have tried contacting rental place letting them know we did not break foosball table and that microwave was in working order when we left and that the doors were unlocked when we arrived. They refuse to listen. We will NOT be staying at this cabin again. Not to self and to others, take pics before and after, because there are a$$hole people out there!
Thank you for your review. I’m sorry to hear you had such a frustrating experience, but I really appreciate you bringing this issue to my attention. Unfortunately, if damages are not reported while guest are on the property, damage fees are applied. If there is anything you do not agree with, please reach out to the local office.
We came from NJ to Tennessee, rented a home from vtrips. We took our RV and we were never told we couldn't. We drive over 11 hours, get to our house and 5 minutes later two cops, with hands on guns, told us we couldn't park our RV in the driveway. My children and husband had to unpack our RV in10 minutes, that's what the police said, and find a place to bring it. Now we have no other vehicle, no where to park it, in a strange state. So we find the nearest jeep rental place, this house BTW, was up a million hills, rent a jeep, cost us $1200, the house was $5000 to rent, and we ask them to please at least give us a partial refund and we were denied. The worst service ever. DO NOT USE VTRIPS EVER!
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience, however you did sign the contract where in Section 20 it states that you cannot bring a RV.
We arrived around 9pm for our reservation and couldn't get in. Left several messages for customer service with no return call.
Pathetic!
Don't waste your money!
Randy,
Thank you for your feedback. We are extremely sorry to hear about this. If you still require assistance please feel free to contact us at reviews@vtrips.com
We rented a condo at Carlos Point condos Ft Myer for 2 week in February 2021. Unit was not well maintained. Ice maker in fridge didn't work. Complained twice. 1sr answer was parts on order. 2nd time we will talk to the owners about getting a new fridge. Dishwasher worked about half of the time. Rusty pieces of the racks coated the dishes. Minimal kitchen supplies. Several pans were coated with rust. 14 vertical blind slats were broken. Sliding door to the lanai was so hard to move that my wife couldn't operate it. We had to pick up/return keys to their office which was an hour drive in traffic. For this we paid 3k per week. This unIt would never meet standards of vrbo or airbnb.
We appreciate your feedback. I do see work orders showing these issues have been addressed. We would like to apologize about the functioning of the ice maker and dishwasher.
Please call ME, and quit telling everyone to call YOU!
It is your issue, not everyone elses. So, let's get this problem resoved via a telephone conversation.
Thx

James,
Thank you for your feedback. We understand that at the very beginning of the pandemic there was a lot of uncertainty and we apologize that our communication was less than efficient. In our contract (e) of the cancellation policy mentions Unforeseen Circumstances. Guests were given the option to move their travel dates to another time to not lose the money paid in. We would be happy to take a look at your specific reservation. If you like please email us at reviews@vtrips.com.
I had written an earlier review about them but now I have more proof of how morally corrupt Vtrips is.
What a corrupt group they have proven to be.
So here is a curious piece of information that everyone should know about trying to get a refund from Vtrips for their cancellations regarding COVID-19. Specific to the State of Florida but I suspect that this may also be the case in other jurisdictions?
The Governor of Florida issued Executive Order 20-87. (google it to read it for yourself?) which states in part: "Vacation rentals are prohibited from making new reservations or bookings and shall not accept new guests for check-in during the duration of this order..."
SO. What this means is that the State of Florida has formally notified Vtrips and prohibited them from allowing me to check in to the unit we had reserved. I cannot see how they can morally refuse to refund all of the fees we have already paid.
For others, please go and read EO 20-87. There are definitions and limitations and dates etc that may apply to you. For us, our dates fall completely within the directions of EO 20-87
For Vtrips to ignore this and hope that their customers are not aware of this and still try and shortchange everyone by offering 50% or moving their reservation to next year (with a healthy price hike.) just shows how morally corrupt they are.
Hi Jori,
Thank you for your feedback. We would like the opportunity to investigate your feedback further offline, please contact me at reviews@vtrips.com.
We had booked a house through VTrips for our Wedding in Gatlinburg for April 11th. Due to stay at home orders and recommendations to stay at home on Gatlinburg's own website, we had to cancel. Customer service was horrible. We finally rescheduled another property with them for June, but the price was substantially lower for this smaller house. Vtrips will not refund the difference. They offered that credit if used to book within 14 days of their email. After we found something close to the difference in price ($216.00), while trying to book, we found that we would be responsible for close to $300 more! A rental rate of $216, but with all the hidden fees, approximately $500! With minimum night stays and all the restrictions and hidden fees they have, it looks like there is no way to use our remaining credit with them without forking out more money!
We've already been through a struggle with cancelling our wedding, honeymoon, etc... etc... but no sympathy or just human ethics from VTrips. Never again! No wonder they only have a one star rating.
Todd,
Thank you for your feedback. We are extremely sorry to hear about this and even more sorry to disappoint a customer. If you would like to use your credit please call our local sales office. An agent can help you find the right property for you within the price range of you credit amount.

Hi Dody,
Thank you for your review. We would like to apologize for your recent experience. We understand traveling may not be an option for you this year so we like to offer to extend your dates out to 2021 if you like so you can still enjoy your trip. Everyone deserves to enjoy their vacation. If you would like to extend your dates please call our local office or if you would like to talk more offline about your unique situation please email me at reviews@vtrips.com
Michelle,
Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear of your less than satisfactory experience with us. We understand your frustration during these times and are trying to do everything in our power to resolve issues. Our standard policy, as stated in your confirmation paperwork at the time of booking, is a full refund within 48 hours of booking. After that point, there is no refund. However, we have changed that policy during this time. With the allowance of a date change to a new time. Depending on your dates prices will go up and depending on the season. We apologize we couldn't find you a new property within your current priced paid. If your reservation has not been officially canceled with us please contact us at reviews@vtrips.com so we may take a look at your reservation.
