Webstore has a rating of 3.2 stars from 28 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Webstore ranks 202nd among Auction sites.
I'm a WebStore seller. I registered several years ago, but only began listing in mid 2014. Now, about 6 months later, I have 1465 listings and have had 118 sales. They've been helpful when needed and they offer the features that most sellers have come to expect. Selling is slower than on eBay, but if you list regularly, have reasonable prices & shipping fees, and treat the customers well, success will be yours. As with all business, the keys to succeed are having a viable plan, determination, a positive attitude, and then work at it regularly. I ordered napkins from BedBath&Beyond's website not knowing they use 3rd party Webstore Group. Napkins were wrong color I received. I was advised to return at my expense as their order showed correct item sent. Over several emails and attaching pictures Jamie at Webstore Group finally admitted wrong item sent. However, Jamie said they had no way to reimburse me for $10.80 I incurred returning. This appears to be a large company and surely has an account payable to reimburse for this charge. Receipt for purchase and receipt for return included.

We have been on Webstore for three years with only 1 sale with in the first week (suspicion owner made purchase), after the purchase and three years later taking $20 a month to "support the site" all we received was hundreds of views of our items but no buyers. Items listed both in auction & buy now. It makes me sick how false people take advantage of another doing what they love. Hopefully others on the Webstore site wake up and realize their getting ripped off!
I just opened my account on webstore in late July. I had my first two sales in early October. This website is more primitive then eBay and you can only have up to four pictures. But you can easily host pictures on a photo hosting site like imgur.com and have them embedded in the description.
Other issue is that nobody really knows about this website so YOU have to drive your own traffic. I also sell on eBay but I send out business cards to attract buyers. This website is perfect as a secondary sales channel for repeat customers as there are no sellers fees and the buyers can use guest checkout if you setup you account to accept them. If you sell you items on ebay and at the same time sell more of them on webstore for 10% or whatever less (since you save 10% on not having seller fees) you will get repeat buyers that want to buy more. YOU just have to advertise with every item you sell.
Tip for consumers:
There is a $10 account verification fee on this website but it is completely optional. What it is, you pay the fee & webstore.com mails you a letter with a code to the address you entered on your account. On the letter is a code that will allow you to verify your address allowing you to remove the initial seller restrictions of 10 items or so at a time.
Ordered a jacket for my wife which turned out to not fit, despite the listing of measurements on their website. I disputed the measurements, in which I received pushback on when they were clearly off my several inches. Upon requesting a refund, a 25% instant refund was offered due to shipping being expensive to China, where their products are drop shipped from. I chose a full refund and shipped the product back, not knowing the courier was going to charge the recipient to receive the item back. Refusing the delivery, the item will now be disposed of and I'm out nearly $400. Two months of dealing with them and nothing to show as a result. If clothing is being sold online, an accurate and reliable sizing and refund system should be in place. If you would rather avoid hassle and non-existent customer service, look elsewhere.
Tip for consumers:
Look elsewhere for a jacket

After being a member with eBay since almost its inception. I stopped my sales on that site due to eBay forcing all sellers to use their managed payment system as well as grabbing a significant fee increase.
Looking at Webstore - Free listings - Minimal advertising - probably fewer than eBay - Easy to use listing interface
Tip for consumers:
Great Place to move you sales to as well as frequent
Just learned today when looking up some of my items that Webstore has google ads that directly compete with the item you are selling and provide a google ad link to bring you to other websites for competing against your item. If you have your own website would you post competition or a link to another website for your items - I think not.
As a result of this I will be reducing/eliminating my presence on Webstore.
They are a free website and can choose to conduct business any way they choose.
My opinion is this is a myopic business decision and I will eventually leave as a result of this.
Just when people are really looking for alternatives to eBay and Amazon.
I personally feel let down by Webstore after so many years.
They are legit. They use adds and donations to keep running so it's not pretty. But just like any auction site, it all depends on the sellers and buyers. If there's a problem they back you up as long as you use Paypal. I like it, it's like a cluttered old flea market.
I collect football jerseys and received a damaged one from ordering through this site. I still have not received my money back and when I filed a complaint with webstore.com they disregarded my ticket. Stay away from this site! Use Amazon instead!
Great Seller support--no fees--buyer appreciated and needs to be advertised more. I have sold and shopped here and I also do other auction that have fees to buyer and seller. Webstore is the least known but the best.
I started selling collectibles on Webstore, everything was going fine. One day I made a "buy it now" sale to someone I had never sold to before only to have it canceled. What? I received a message from the admin stating I broken their rules. What rule had I broken? Admin said the buyer was on the same network as I was and that it was shill bidding and it was against the rules. Same network? Shill bidding? Are you serious, it was a "buy it now" sale. Since
I live 1500 miles away from the buyer, whom I'd never met before, What is this talk about us being on the same network?
After a couple more accusations and listing cancelations, I realized Webstore administrator may not be all there.
We had a patio door ordered from Clera Windows and Doors and although it was a wait, once the door arrived, arrangements for installation were almost immediate. The installation team for Clera Windows and Doors were efficient, courteous and informative.
They are great website as far as selling items for free, however the problem is that they don't get that much traffic coming to their site. May take awhile before your item sells.
After registering on this site I've already had an identity theft issue with one of the advertising affiliates that pop up on their site(Car Loans)somebody filled out an online application in my name, address and phone number for a car loan. I've never had problems with identity theft and know the webstore is somehow connected. BEWARE OF THIS SITE!
Wonderfull website, loads easy. Easy to communicate with sellers, customise transactions, a better selection of special interest AMERICAN sellers.
Vast improvement on the WRETCHED dumping ground, Ebay
EBAY has been involed with crimes online, and it is on record, also ebay has lost multiple lawsuits! Now ebayi is spending money fake reviews against webstore, because they fear no fees, and they met their match, ebay is trying to quickly block new members from joining webstore with false acusations, all the things they are saying, are the things ebay themselves are responsible for, these bastards need to lose all business, please make you're own decision, watch this youtube video to understand ebay: Ebay The World's biggest online Crime Ring: By Bugsy Cline
This is an excellent site and i have had many sales on it. Right now however the site is down and i am enquiring why.
WHY PAY ALL THOSE FEES ELSEWHERE? IT DOES NOT ADD UP! IF MORE PEOPLE WOULD UNITE TO SELL/BUY HERE! IT WOULD SHUT DOWN FEEBAY! I HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED BUYING/SELLING ON HERE.
Yes I can see the wonderful reviews for this website... I am now under the impression that they are all fake. You have to pay a membership fee to join around $15. Then they offer you the chance to advertise in your city on their website for anyone who looks at the classifieds on their website in your area. I thought it was odd that when I asked for a major city in my state that it was automatically approved. How could it be that there isn't anyone else who already took this area? I then checked a lot of other major cities around the country only to find openings for advertising in all of them. Now to be clear they only allow 1 person to advertise in each city and the $5 is for the whole month. Which seems like an unbelievable deal right? Especially since you can link any website you want to this advertisement. Well unbelievable is right. I was down $20 and I hadn't even listed any products yet. Now if you run a retail company online you know the amount of work it takes to post all of your products on a new website. The amount of hours you put into it. Being that my sales on other sites are very high I thought this would be a great site to tack on for some extra revenue plus how cheap it was to advertise. So I do all the work and I wait... and wait... and wait. Nothing happens. Not even a single view on any of my products. These products are selling everywhere else but here not a single view? This is a scam site. They know they don't have any web traffic or any members so this is how they make their money. They wait for people to join so that they will make a minimum of $15 off of them and more if they fall for the advertising scheme they have in place. DONT FALL FOR IT! THIS IS A SCAM SITE!
Please improve your review and your services. I really wanted to buy products but having seen these reviews regarding frauds, I am really scared.
I researched this company before ordering anything, and found nothing but good reviews. Apparently they must have friends and family leave reviews because I have finally gotten 2 of the 5 items I ordered and am unhappy with both. I wrote a review on their site, under the products and one was posted (it got 4 stars with a statement that I would give it 3.5 if it were an option) The one I gave 1 star to was not posted. So that tells you, you can not trust the reviews on their site.
The OS cardigan is not OS for adults (I wear a S/M top) It is tight fitting and small. It also smells terribly when it arrives! Of course, my experience is that all clothing shipped from China do and had the site, at the time I ordered, stated their items were from China, I would not have ordered anything.
The ankle snow boots I ordered are 1/2 size smaller then normal shoes and the material is cheap and thin and I doubt will hold up. They state "These ankle boots are ideal for Autumn and Winter with a rubber sole and a plush inner lining to keep you warm." Ummmm no way! I unfortunately have another stye of boots coming (they were shipped out before other items and still have not arrived) and I am no longer excited about them.
Their return policy isn't worth the hassle (even at paying $49.99 for the boots and $29.99 for the cardigan) Part of their long refund policy: Refunds (if applicable)
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days.
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
Now mind you, they are located in Ireland. Also, if they refuse you a refund, you have to pay the shipping to get the item you don't want, back.
I'd advise you to ignore the so called ravings of the products and save your money.
A previous post by an administrator of the site claimed they had 300,000 active members. Whatever it meant by "active members" is unknown, buts it not showing up on the site as a quick addition of the total number of items available for sale was just over 615,000. I recall seeing some of the same exact stuff 1-2 years ago and its still unsold, but of course this would not represent the total number of items unsold as many of those have been removed from the site. How have quit the site?
I hate ebay, but at least they regularly have over 200 million items. I hate ebay's final value fees and paypal's fee which typically work out to a total of 12.9% of the item price and shipping + a $. 30 transaction fee, but I list items in auctions that need an actual audience. There is no traffic on this site to generate bids, especially for higher ticket items. Its an utter waste of time. If I need to list fixed price items why would I bother going out of my way to list on this site as it is highly inconvenient.
I can't indicate the type of payment I want to use on the listing form and am told I can't because I could be a potential criminal.
There bulk listing tool consisting of a text file is years behind the norm. Check out a tool like say GarageSale whereas I can construct thousands of html listings with a graphical user interface and embed images in the listings - uploading these to eBay whenever I want.
Exactly how do you print labels from this site? With eBay I click a button to print a label, edit the shipping weight and service if needed, and save the label as a pdf file and then print them out in bulk. If I have to go to the USPS web site and manually insert all this information or to the post office I would not even bother to sell the items in the first place as time is money.
Exactly how do I get a shipping label discount with this site? I hate ebay and paypal, but I end up getting a 37% discount with some shipping services over higher counter prices.
The staff of this site does not get it. Online sales is all about the time it takes to make the sale as time is money. It makes little difference that this site is free because it costs much much more in lost time. With 15 years of experience listing items is pretty much a assembly line; however, this site in its current form is a broken cog that slows down the machinery.
Obviously we are not perfect nor do we pretend that we are going to make everyone happy. We have a wonderful staff of very friendly people, none of which are smoking unicorn poop. We serve over 300,000 active members on Webstore and do our best to help everyone and always treat all members with respect. Do we make mistakes, sure we do, that's because we hire human beings. We have a lot of very successful sellers on our site, and all of them are very happy they gave Webstore a chance because they are saving a lot of money and keeping all their hard earned profits! The $10 Verification fee is OPTIONAL and is not required to buy or sell on Webstore.com. It adds a level of security for your buyers and has boosted buyer confidence by letting them know the seller "is who he says he is" and that we have taken steps to verify that seller's address.
I bought some craft dies from this website when I was looking online and found this website. I had no problems at all with that.
There is no cost at all to join or have a store or list items on webstore. I have done that. There are no fees at all. They get their revenue through advertising. If you want to be validated as a seller, which is optional, that costs $10, which I decided to do after awhile. However, in retrospect I realised that it doesn't prove anything other than that you can receive their validation code at the street address you give them, so I don't think I'd do that again.
Something they do that I think is a bit dodgy is to charge certain amounts of money to raise your seller level to a higher one. Apparently this would happen if you had enough sales, but if you don't, you can pay for that. The highest amount is $15 to be the highest level seller, with smaller amounts for the lower levels. I think you would have had to pay the $10 to verify your account first, though. That will move you to seller level 1 from 0. You don't have to pay anything, though. This is all entirely optional and is supposed to give you certain benefits.
Their support always answered my questions promptly.
I had more views than I have had at some other selling sites, but not a single sale. I was selling my own handmade items, mostly, and the postage I have to charge due to the high cost of first class package rates and the extra rigid mailers I have to use to adequately protect the items I think was a factor in having no sales here. Amazon buyers have not been deterred. Maybe I would have done better here with other items.
Like any other auction or buy now site like ebay or etsy, webstore are not the sellers. The sellers are individuals. Some will be honest, others might not be, so don't tar a good seller with a bad seller's brush.
Webstore is OK takes a little while before you can get your items sold.
Webstore is the fastest growing free online auctions marketplace with over 500,000 items and growing! We are the number one online auction alternative.
Webstore has never had any information from any of our users compromised, so I can assure you that this claim is untrue. More than likely malware was already running on your PC which directed you to a phishing site which obtained your personal information, it is very common today. The banner ads on the site are from different sources such as Google and we do not endorse or support any of the companies advertising on Webstore.com. We are very sorry to hear you had your identity stolen, but we can assure you that was not the fault of anything Webstore did or did not do.
