“Weebly Inc.”

Morrey S.
10/4/16

Weebly rectified any disputes in a timely manner. The web designer assigned to my project clearly spelled out the time frame of the project even while he was held in a meeting. The sequence of e-mails were misread and it was my fault for not looking carefully. Marshall the initial sales representative only briefed me on the project details but did not specif as to what type of web sites could be done in one day. The web designer determined that a real estate website would take much more time to complete and 2-3 weeks was more realistic. The hold time of 20-30 minutes was due to the high volume of calls in peak hours of operation. Weebly immediately refunded my money and requested feedback. I am satisfied with the services Weebly has to offer the general public.

“Weebly Technical Support Refuses to Help”

Vandi R.
8/16/24

Support was unable to fix my website form submissions. My contact forms were not recording submissions or sending me emails even though it showed my customers that their inquiry was submitted. I lost several leads this way. 3 different forms on my site were broken, showing the customer their form was submitted but not actually recording. Support tried to fix the issue but when they couldn't they just stated that there was nothing wrong with the site on their end and they would not be trying anything else to fix it. I had to recreate my entire site on a different hosting platform to get the form submission feature back. I had been with them for over 10 years. I had several issues with them in the past from billing as well as technical support. I even had to recrate an entire retail site when square purchased Weebly and messed up the inventory integration. However, after loosing so many customer leads, this was the final issue that convinced me to make the switch.

It's not worth my time to explain it all, but one of the main problems was the strange connection between Square and weebly and if you change the email address in weebly then you end up in a mess where you can't log into weebly but you can log into Square and from there get into weebly but not the other way around, and the password reset doesn't work. I also lost half an hour's work because I ticked a box which required an upgrade but I couldn't back out to where I was.

It almost tells you nothing about how it works, like how to change the destination of buttons, it limits you to where you can place pictures, there isnt even an undo button (had to rewrite an entire paragraph because of this) and sometimes it deletes text. Although if done right your website can look professinal.

What you build and preview is never what shows life when published. The worst is the mobile version which the main reason I switched to Weebly. The menu is alway so tiny that you can't see it even when using their new themes. The life version is not even close to the preview.

They don't answer de emails, when they do, no one can solve the problems. They have a serious problem, when you upload a new blog post, it copy the photos from the new post and replace the old ones, so you loose the pictures from another posts.

Be VERY Careful with Weebly! Weebly has hosted my websites for more than 10 years. I had a Pro account for most if not all of those years. They downgraded my accounts to "free". They said they sent me emails about renewing but I never received one single email from them. I offered to provide a sworn affidavit to that effect. I have autopaid for all those years with no problem - all of a sudden a downgrade. They say they cannot reinstate me to the Pro account at my previous grandfathered rate, just the "current" rate. I believe they "can", they are just refusing to do so. So they "say" they sent an email, "say" that I never responded and then are "justified" in downgrading my accounts, but will be happy to restore them at the "current" rate. Hmmm... I wonder how many other people this "situation" has happened to.

Weebly discriminates between countries for "security reasons" (scams, etc.). Countries in Africa like Senegal for sure. They do not disclose the countries nor give you a solution. They say that their "firm response" is that it is like that. This involves that you cant access the site to edit from these countries, nor have any visitors. So, what is wrong: 1, multicultural teams working on the sites, are imposible. And 2nd they are contributing to limit access to a young and growing country such as Senegal were I work. It is not contributing the population to feed itself from content, information, knowledge, etc. It is a shame and we are extremely sorry we have been using Weebly for so long. With no answe from Weebly, we have to unfortunately change host platform, with the work that that involved. But our values are still important to us. Good luck!

I love Weebly because, if I need to make a website for anything I can do it with Weebly. They have a veriety of templetes you can choose from and cool features like videos, photo galleries, maps, forums and contact forms. You can even have a blog with your website. It's easy to use HTML. All you have to do to make your site is drop and paste your information. I had made a site with Yola but find that Weebly is 10 times better and easier to work with.

Weebly used to work fine for the 10 years I had it before Square took over. I knew it was doomed. Square is ruining it. I am being forced off the platform because of error codes that don't allow me to set up emails, and my website is being removed in 28 days because Square is refusing sign ups. Even though I have a Pro Account and paid for the year. They made sure they took my payment before telling me I am booted off. When Square, the company, started, they were unsecured and had tons of hackers getting into mine and other people's accounts. Since so many hair stylists were using Square, they catapulted it up but the company is still no better than it was with zero customer service. The guy literally responded to my emails 2 months later - 2 months too late - what kind of customer service takes 2 months to respond to hacking into an account? Meanwhile my account was hacked and they were saying I owe tons of money - from other countries - although my sales were in person not online. Because this guy was not addressing my issue, and blew me off, they have a record that I was contacted by him and didn't respond so now banned from Square? Square did not allow you to shut down your square account that contained my bank account number! This company is a joke and has ruined Weebly. Are they going to refund me the amount I paid a designer or the yearly fee I paid? Much less the time it is going to take to transfer everything somewhere else, and work involved. Unlikely.

The Weebly.com website has a serious flaw in its programming. If a file/picture is posted to a website with a common name, for example "Scan 1234", and later a totally different file with the same name is posted to that website, the program over-writes the original file/picture and places the latter file/picture in its place, causing incorrect files/pictures to be posted where they shouldn't be, even if its on a totally different webpage of the website..

Tip for consumers:

I asked about copying and pasting from one web page to another. The tech support guy named 'Nick' did not know how and asked a supervisor. He gave an answer. I asked 'Where does it get stored?' He gave an unrelated answer. I asked a 2nd and 3rd time. He talked over me and would not answer my question. He didn't know. I said that he had been talking over me and began to ask my question a 4th time and he began talking over me again. I told him to 'shut up' and listen to my question. He interrupted and argued with me. I said 'FU' and hung up. Incompetent tech support. This has happened before.

Weebly has become an absolute joke. Forum after form, post after post, year after year, hundreds of weebly users are asking over and over again for the same basic features for their website and time after time Weebly just ignore them.

People have been asking for video backgrounds on mobile since 2016 and its now 2020 and weebly still haven't done it, and worse still there aren't even any simple work arounds.

Auto video play is another feature, as are customisable shopping buttons. There are many other features. The designer is also very glitchy with window just randomly popping up all over the place. The help forums are rubbish and the support is non existent. After 5 years we are leaving Weebly.

Whatever you do, DO NOT get the "New Editor". The "Classic Editor" is far superior to the "New Editor". Functions on the "New Editor" are extremely limited. For example, if you want to have a photo gallery, there is no way to add a caption to a photo. So you upload a photo and there's no info for the person to read on that photo. There are other elements you can use to get around this, but these other elements don't have the lightbox feature. A lightbox feature is when you click on a photo and it opens up a box that shows an enlarged photo.

What is the point of showing people something without being able to describe it without using massive pieces of text that don't align with the photo itself?

The "New Editor" completely sucks.

I PAID for a 10y Weebly website in 2014. After a change of ownership, they're asking me to pay again, with 2 years left to go. And they can't be contacted. Outrageous.

I've been using Weebly for 7 years and I certainly regret it.

I have hundreds of pages to transfer to a different system so I just put up with Weebly, but for anyone starting out don't even think about it. Run any Weebly website through an SEO checker and then you'll see red everywhere, then there are hundreds of duplicate pages because of the way they create category URLs for the blog. Google hates these duplicates. Page loads are also slow in general because there is no image optimiser.

And the image picked up from a blog post when posting to social media is often something from the overall page template and not the one that you have attached to your post.

These little issues go on and on for years and are never resolved. Just check their forum for all the comments asking why things have not been fixed for years...

If you are working with other products such as landing page builders or email systems it is extremely rare to find integration with Weebly. That means you are often stuck with having to pay Zapier for example to integrate data flows.

It's a total mess, but try to get help from "Support" and you will eventually give up in frustration. Mostly they don't answer. When they do it's worse. So better not to become frustrated and just put up with what you have built until you can muster the energy to transfer to a different system.

Tip for consumers:
Don't get started, use something else from the start.

If you think you will never need customer service from Weebly, that you are knowledgeable about building websites and don't need their help, think again. Mine changed from being built in English to suddenly being in Norwegian. I don't speak Norwegian, so I could not read the words to even begin to know how to fix it. I certainly didn't turn my site into Norwegian, so who did? Did Weebly get hacked? There is no way to contact anyone at customer service. Not by phone, not by email, not by that stupid droid that is supposed to replace person to person chat. DO NOT BUY INTO THE WEEBLY SCAM!

I rarely write reviews, but my recent experience with Weebly has compelled me to share my frustration and disappointment with their service. As a web developer with extensive technical skills, I can confidently say that Weebly has severely let me down.

I have a domain with Weebly that I wanted to move to a more reliable hosting service, Hostinger. However, Weebly's interface has been so broken that I've been unable to unlock my domain. With no live chat available, I've had to rely on their slow email support system. It took them an entire week to respond to my initial inquiry, and another week to reply to my response. Worst of all, they didn't even fix the issue!

I then requested that they contact the registry to unlock the domain, as Hostinger's support team confirmed it was still locked. Weebly never replied. I've sent them two more follow-up emails over the past month, but have received no response.

This poor service has greatly impacted my brother's business, which relies on the domain. He's now been without a website for two months, all due to Weebly's lack of customer support and technical competence.

In summary, my experience with Weebly has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I would strongly advise others to stay away from their service. If you're looking for a reliable and responsive hosting service, look elsewhere. Weebly has proven to be a massive headache that's not worth the time or effort.

Here are a few things I hate (not dislike) about Weebly:
1. Slow loading time.
I just make a writing blog, nothing fancy, but it takes ages to get to the editor section.
2. Safari-unfriendly
Forget about loading. You will never get to editor mode using Safari.
3. The company changes features as they please.
4. Lack of support for features that should have existed a decade ago.
There's no option to post images side by side, as confirmed by a Weebly product manager. This is unbelievable. It's a nuisance even for someone with less than 10 photos per post. I can't imagine how those with a photography blog would manage.
I've only used Weebly for less than 1 week and it's an awful experience. I normally don't write reviews online and if I do, it's because I absolutely love or loathe it.

I can't believe that Weebly got so many positive reviews online. That only goes to show how unreliable online reviews are.

Weebly advertises itself as the easiest website platform to use, but is it really easy when you spend a whole day formatting a post and still unhappy with what you achieve?

There's a reason why Wordpress is still the leader in website building. It is certainly not easy to use, but it's more transparent and straightforward if you really put in the effort. With Weebly, not so much. You're asking for frustration.

After their Carbon update it's just bug after bug, problem after problem... The way it's going with support and tech fixing things, I calculate that my website, the one I worked on for months, will take 10 years to fix so it can be fully functional. Do yourself a big favour and use a platform like WordPress where there are not so many limitations and you can host your own website-- this is what the Pros do, for a very good reason.

I am finally through with Weebly. GOOD RIDDANCE! If it's just a blog or super simple website layout, you might be okay with Weebly, but other than that, SAVE YOUR SANITY and use something else for your web building! I will never use an editor like Weeby where I don't have 100% control of my site. Host your own site with Wordpress! Wordpress offers drag and drop templates too-- a lot of Weebly users don't realize that!

About 6 months ago I left a review, shortly after the introduction of Carbon, with a one start on service. I have always been a fan of the Weebly application. Yes, they do have occasional glitches, but I am a realist and understand that technology will always have moments of dysfunction. Here is the very big PLUS to Weebly, their cost is relatively low for the overwhelming number of wonderful options and services that they offer. Especially for the business plan that includes eCommerce. If you compare their eCommerce prices to an applicant such as Big Commerce you will find that Weebly is 1) much easier to use 2) hundreds of dollars less every month. I have returned to write this review specifically because I have noted that in the last 6 months that Weebly seems to be making a significant effort to improve their service and communication. I recommend Weebly, just be prepared that when you are doing online web development that no matter what there is going to be down time. It doesn't matter what application that you go with. So, accept that probably once or twice a year you will have your website down for an hour, and hopefully it doesn't happen when you have a big sale or have spent a lot on a promotion!

Tip for consumers:
It's now been about 5 weeks or so since the Weebly editor has started working again. It was a slow and painful progression back to business as usual. Weebly has always been a bit buggy, but ALL online web design applications are. I truly do love the Weebly application, and during the 3 weeks that it was unusable, we tried out every application available and did not like ANY of them as well. But be aware that Weebly really doesn't have very good technical support. Perhaps that is the industry s

I have used Weebly for years. I left Homestead when their customer service went missing... noticing every time I had an issue there was another layer in between me as the customer and them as the business to offer support. But now Weebly has literally created a barrier that is hopefully going to cost their greed profits, because there is no way to reach them without a pin number (which I've never been given and they don't tell you how to get it- even tho I am a Pro level customer). There is no default- except to email or create a help support ticket, neither features which will work. The email is a false way to send you to a sea of information using whatever few words it recognizes, and below it asks if it helps, only providing a "Yes", which then does not allow me to actually file a support ticket. If I could pull my website today, I would. I tried to purchase 2 domains thru them over the weekend, had a gliche and they lost my business to go-daddy. I had a client I was sending their way for a new site which I can no longer recommend in good faith. I hope their greed continues to cost them further business. Who knows how many customer service reps were let go... I simply cannot be the only client feeling this way or experiencing these issues. They are a website building platform for God's sake... why on earth can't they create a streamlined, accurate and responsive Customer Service protocol?

I chose Weebly years ago because I sell digital downloads. All of a sudden they won't upload! Come to find out they CHANGED THE RULES and no longer offer this. They NEVER informed and and I prepaid for two years of website based on the fact that they do offer it! Something has happened with their service over the past 2 months, you can't get through via phone, email or chat. IT'S TERRIBLE
