I transfered money to Philippines 3 times with their app didn't have any problems. They gave me a good exchange rate and everything went through smoothly. 2nd time I made a slight mistake with the receivers surname and when I contacted them about it they sorted it out quickly. I will never never use Western Union again. I put a stop pay on a money order in June and still have not gotten my money back. Very unworthy company. Every time I call they tell me to wait a couple more days. It has 3 months. I wouldn't pick a star at all if I didn't have to.

I tried to send money to the UAE several times using the Western Union website. It didn't work. I had someone from Western Union on the phone for 45 minutes. They couldn't solve the problem. I tried their mobile app. It didn't work. I went to one of their agencies (La Banque Postale, Cr Roosevelt, Lyon, France). I waited in line for about 45 minutes, watching the one and only employee choosing which clients to help first. When it was eventually my turn, he tried to get me to use the app again. I explained it didn't work, I wanted to work with a real person. He said he had to help the other clients first. I waited while he helped the person behind me. Then he eventually said ok come with me to the machine. On the way there, he stopped to help yet another customer send a parcel. By that stage I'd had enough and walked out of the post office.

Western Union just makes up the rules as they go along. I sent a transfer to the same recipient as I have done several times in the past. I paid for an *instant* transfer and it stays "In Progress" status undelivered. Chat support blatantly lies and refuses to assist claiming it has to be held until the 16th when the receipt *clearly* says the 15th. Even worse it IS already the 16th in the recipient's country and they still refuse to release it for no apparent reason.

To echo what many have said, tried to send money to Malaysia. Been held up for a week and still in progress. Tried calling them, told me that it was my bank. Called bank, bank said it's already been cleared and money had already been credited from my account. So told me to call WU to find out what was going on. Back and forth so many times and bank can't do anything because the money is now with WU. Until now I'm still waiting to hear back where my money is from WU. STAY AWAY from this company!

I sent $3000 to an Indonesian friend overseas. At first it seemed to go thru, but it didn't. So the lady behind the counter at the Meiers store said, it's okay, just sign this paper and you'll get your money back. I had sent the money through my card. I waited a.month, nothing ever showed up, so I went back. They said, we cannot pay that much back in cash. I said, "Fine, then credit the card, cash a check. I don't care. Just please give it back." They gave me their corporate customer service number. The corporate people said it is waiting for pickup, just go.back to where you made the transaction. I did, with the same negative result. Finally, after 8 calls to corporate, and four more trips to the Meiers, I was going crazy. Finally, the lady at Meiers showed me the paper that I had signed that day, and said, "We have already PAID you back. See? Here's your signature." After that I went to the Better Business Bureau. They dropped the case. I have given up. Do NOT USE this company.
Horrible customer service. They have held my money up for almost two weeks. They said they have so many companies that have to approve my REFUND. They are literally hold MY money for nothing. I called and spoke to an associate in customer service who was rude and unhelpful and spoke in a condescending manner and when I asked to speak to a supervisor I was put on hold for 30 minutes only to be spoken to by a man who spoke in a volume hard to hear and was unable to explain why my money has not been returned to me yet. BAD BAD BUSINESS practices and incompetent employees who have terrible manners and I felt like they were putting me on hold for fun. The phone call lasted over an hour and a half with NO RESOLUTION…. I STILL DONT HAVE MY MONEY….

Its been 45 days since transfer and nothing has been done. They have now escalated it to the back office, whatever that means. It seems I may never get my money back nor will it reach the receiver. I would have thought it would have been fixed in hours. Sad way to do business.

To send a domestic transfer it has been almost a week and no money in sight.
Receipt will tell you one thing, tracking will tell you another and FAQ will tell you yet another. One will say 48 hours, one will give you a date (which will be missed) and the other will claim 6 business days.
The fact it takes this long to transfer within the USA is deplorable seeing that there are so many other faster options.
Using this company has simply become nothing more than a headache and an endless waiting game while they will absolutely grab that money immediately from the sender. Seek alternatives. Cannot imagine if this were an emergency.
I've only used Western Union twice, The first time I was charged 50 dollars from the states to Canada.when it arrived in Canada.they wouldn't release the money to my daughter untill I paid another 400.00!
The second time I sent money the other side tried to tell my son he had the wrong pin number. They were trying to keep his money. Don't trust Western Union!

WesternUnion is not a professional organization. After using the online app successfully for six months to send my diabetic boyfriend money for his insulin shots, my transfer receives an error code. I call support who informs me that their "corporate policies" are limiting my account. The agent refuses to elaborate on what "policy" my account was in violation of. The very idea that there can be a denial of service without any explanation seems worthy of immediate legal challenge. Avoid the drama and use Moneygram instead. WesternUnion is a racket.

Total time wasted four and a half hours 5 days later just had to get refund which ran me all over town when requesting help frequently cannot get past automated system when you do get agent the information is incorrect which I believe is just their standard reply when things don't go right
I called the customer care number 800 789 124 for help because I was refused by an agent location as they calmed that they only allow customers to receive money after 4pm and the operator was extremely rude handling my complaint. I will never use western union services again! Western union is quick to collect your money and service fees but very slow to hand over the money to the receivers.
Took them five days to tell me they will not transfer my money to the my vendor. This was after clearing security check this morning when the agent said the funds would be available right away. What a horrible experience! Now I am out of pocket for all of the money now until 5-8 days... stay away from these people!

W. U. is undoubtedly the worst of the worst! Thoroughly incompetent, unreliable and dishonest. Recently attempted to transfer a large sum to the Philippines where my wife was waiting at the airport. The transfer was processed, they took the money out of my account and held the funds. NO customer service relief. No email, no telephone, no chat... Now I am trying to recover my money through my bank as "stolen funds." Don't be victimized by this relic of the past. Joined Remitly, resent the $1000. 00 in a matter of seconds.
Probably the most frustrating Company I have ever dealt with. The App is appalling and only works intermittently. Their intrusion into your life by asking personal questions to transfer money is a breach of the Privacy Act in New Zealand. Seriously there are plenty of alternatives, use someone else

On the phone for over an hour. Language barrier, phone glitches, technical issues, keep rotating calls. Pakistan customer service is really sarcastic and rude. She told me I need to move faster when entering the numbers.
Had been using for months but now can't use online saying card not good even tried a different card. So called there customer service they hung up on me 3 times. I'm charged $13 instead of $5 & they now take money out of money I send to recipient which didn't do before

Of course, like everyone else, I am not really a fan of the regular western union stores since they seem to be a haven for people running various underhanded schemes (i. E. scammers).
However, their website itself is very informative and provides a lot of good information for anyone considering using their service.
Western union is a great service when you are actually able to get into the website to do your business. Most times I have to go on about 10 different times before I can actually get on. Sometimes I think they make it that way so you have to do your business at their local business sites and pay more in fees. I get the loading circle for a half hour and just give up as I'm sure many people do. No it's not my WiFi signal. I'm using a work computer most times and it doesn't work off WiFi. It's just a really overloaded website. I'll just use PayPal or zelle instead western union.

Too bad there is not a negative rating. BUYER BEWARE! I bought $3600 worth of money orders to cure a foreclosure. The mortgage company did not accept the payment and returned the money orders. I returned the original money orders AND receipts for a refund and have been getting the run around for over 2 months. Now they are asking me to fill out a whole new set of paperwork and and wait up to 2 more months for a refund because they have "no record of receiving the money orders". I sent the money orders 2 day air and the delivery was confirmed. I emailed copies of the money orders, receipts, proof of delivery, and everything else they asked for, was directed to email 4 different "departments", and had to attach all the information each time with no resolution. Further, I have another $5000 to return from the same attempt to cure and no one will give me information on how to make sure this will not happen again. BEWARE!

Never had a problem with several transfers to Uganda. All were received within the time stated. I even was able to get a one-time discount on the WU fee! There seem to be more problems with shaky internet overseas including attempts at email communication as of Oct. 15,2021 when I tried to send another transfer, but this is not their fault. Appreciate WU very much. Thank you.
