I transfered money to Philippines 3 times with their app didn't have any problems. They gave me a good exchange rate and everything went through smoothly. 2nd time I made a slight mistake with the receivers surname and when I contacted them about it they sorted it out quickly. I don't know why all the negative reviews I found western union excellent
I will never never use Western Union again. I put a stop pay on a money order in June and still have not gotten my money back. Very unworthy company. Every time I call they tell me to wait a couple more days. It has 3 months. I wouldn't pick a star at all if I didn't have to.
Western Union blocked me for receiving and sending money in my country which is Tunisia for no reason and when I asked them why they sent me an e-mail after one week to tell me we cannot provide you with the reasons why. You are just blocked! But when I go to another country and take the money with my passport I can take it! Money gram is better

Western union used to be my favorite but now my most hated company. Sending money is like walking through hell. Learn from money gram and world remit. They wanted me to download my ID then won't let me send $500 to Italy. I went to money gram and it only took 5 minutes to do that, I got a text to confirm on my phone and from my bank. I will never use them again.
Worst customer service ever. The lady whom I got connected to after a long wait in line did not even hear the issue, she said she is going to transfer me to the right department and put me back in line. I had to again wait in the same line to again get connected. I called from outside USA with extra charges to waist and waste of time aswell. And finally all I hear is that I cannot use western union with no reason given at all. Even after using it for years, you will be removed without any notice
I have spent hours on hold and speaking to different agents on the phone and via chats to try to get a wire off hold and refunded. We thought Western Union was a reputable company but they are NOT! I tried to wire money to a friend, but they would not release it from a hold (even though they said it was released several times). Then when I cancelled it, they said it would take 7 - 10 days to see it. It has been 3 weeks and I still cannot talk to the correct department because the agents say they don't have a phone extension. Still no refund. It is $1,000.00 they will not return. Don't EVER use this company!

I have my grand daughter for spring break. The first day we went fishing and someone broke into my truck and stole my wallet. My friend has tried to send me money for 4 days and every day y'all have invented a new reason why I can't have my money and given different instructions than the day before. We are sleeping in my truck and have not eaten for 3 days because of y'all's incompitance. I don't understand how anyone can be so cruel. All I can do is sit here and cry in hopelessness. Why do this to me.
I am trying to complete online transfer over one week using my bank account with no success. It is not my first time to do so. I have called the customer services twice to resolve the issue and I have been told, there is technical issues with Western union that will be cleared in two days. However, the issue is still exist. I will use other agency to transfer money
To send 20 dollars overseas they want a 4.99 fee plus they reduce the exchange rate. With other options that do t cost money like remitly and gcash, why get ripped off? It's time for WU to just go away.
They are the worst. I have sent money to them for 10 years to 2 missionaries in villages. No issue and they show this in their files. But this Christmas they flagged as fraud and then tried to get me to answer misleading questions instead of just verifying the person I was sending to and for the record has been in their system for 10 years. So because of this 70 orphans get no Christmas dinner and starving pastors get no food. I am more than miffed and this should be addressed. Not to mention they hung up on me the first time after 15 min and passed to several dept..

Don't trust "no fee for your transaction" coupon; before you enter your credit card info, it says no fee, but then once you enter your credit card number, you will be charged for the transaction fee. I called customer service and they stated there is nothing we can. I would definitely not recommend using Western Union ever! I will never be sending money through them ever again.
My first time involved in a Western Union transaction and it has been terrible.
You look up locations to receive a transfer only to discover many of them have a low maximum, usually $300, others only allow you to send out money, not receive it, and other locations are dead locations no one bothered to purge from the list.

When you wanna join them by app they will tell you fake things that money be transfer in a minute and you can sent the receiver a code. This is all fake and better to transfer from other remittances whom you can relay other then this foolish scam. I m really disappointed with this people coz letting lie and scam you to download their application to get more reviews
I received a money order from a family member for Christmas. After going to about 10 different wester union locations, as well as calling Wells Fargo bank (the bank the money order was drawn on) no one would cash it. So now WU has the money and my family member sent to me and they are screwed because now WU wont give them the money back either. Worst experience ever. If I could give them 0 stars I would.
Consumer warning: please be aware of western union money transfer. They have the options to transfer from debit visa to recipient debit visa/bank account but it always has an error and they debit my bank account. No transactions can be found under history. I do not know where my money is. Cash can only be pickup, which is very inconvenient. Consumer beware.
Terrible customer service. Fail! Lost 145 dollars and there's no way to get it back. They don't care and the only way to request a refund is by mail or their cheap site, none of which expedite the 30 day lag and the fact someone will spend by the time they process your request.
You guys are the worst. How can you have on your website that a location is open and have us waste our time and money only to find out that they're not opened on Sundays? I wish there was a rating below 1 star that I could've given
I don't know how your compliance department works, but nobody wants to send his own money and after being IDed and all, having to call you again on the phone, be on hold for several minutes to answer some condescending questions so you can remove a hold on the money sent. I just had the worst money transfer experience. Nowadays there are a handful of competitors that offer better rates and services. I'm not sure why I went back to WU, but I've learnt my lesson. Keep it up! You're doing amazing! Maybe you need to see even a further drop in clientele before changing your ways.
I really disliked their rule to accept no piece of ID from foreigners in certain countries like Malaysia. They refuse categorically even if you are holding a piece of information that suffice. What dangerous activity or self-respecting scammer would go through all the trouble for $100 or slighlty more, what fraudulent activity could be financed with $100, a government heist? Keeping people's money under the false pretense that it's for their own safety... Thanks for protecting me against myself WU.
Thought I'd use this service - thought it would be fast. Nope. 6-7 days to wait to send money to myself. Should have just gone and opened a new bank account with a check (after my debit was cancelled due to fraud). Thought this would be faster and less of a hassle - hahahahahahah - still waiting with no money 5 days later - but of course it has been gone from my account for coming on 2 days - floating out in space while users (ie WU) make some interest. Enjoy the $9 and coins for your dying company. Wish I'd checked reviews first.
I have been using Western Union for over 10 yrs. The service when sending online is inconsistent. It works 85% of the time for me. Error codes come up and you have to call them or send an email which they are very hard to get hold of. They ask for information like name, address phone no. Etc which is already on their system. One time they said you have made too many transactions, evertime I try to put it through is considered a transaction. Its a good idea the I have a back up money transfer company which I fortunately have, instead of having to go and see a WU shop to sort the problem.

I typed in the WattsApp phone number for my friend and WU says it was received, but it is not. The chat feature timed me out as I was typing. The other rep said my friend should check his browser and clear cookies. What?!? Horrible customer service as they didn't read my chat messages, repeated the same things and overall, just didn't care. I got a refund, good thing I did it on my credit card, or who knows what would have happened. My friend lives in a third world country and needed this money to feed his family. The rep responded by saying, "Sometimes these things happen."

Recently my western union app was hacked and $5000 were transferred to some account, which was not done by me. I called WesternUnion people and they simply just said we cannot do anything only bank can help you with it.
Western union people has all the information of the account number and that hackers information still they are not taking any action. I am a regular user of WesternUnion and facing this problem, at least you guys should help in some way, by canceling the process.
My account is in negative right now and I am in need of cash badly.

I absolutely hate having to Use Western Union. Every time I use them either to send or receive money, it's always a problem with getting it. They are the worst I'm so happy that there are other ways of sending money besides them they're acting like it's still the 1800s no stars at all and 10 thumbs down they suck
I have spend hours on hold they kept on hanging up on me. This is ridiculous and so unprofessional. I've send thousands of dollars with this company ans their workers / costumer service representatives are rude and I will not be sending any more money.
WARNING!... Sent money twice to my gf in the Philippines, so I go to do another transfer with Western Union. They have me send a card to her with the tracking number so she thinks she's receiving the money. Then I get a phone call that they want additional information and then they declined it. So if you think you're going to get money sent to the Philippines or an overseas country. Think again! Never again will I use Western Union! Never! There's other ways of sending money
I have been trying to send money to India and Pakistan for almost a week and kept getting a technical difficulty message and customer support were totally useless in helping and they cannot connect you to technical support. The service at WU continues to get worse day by day. Totally hopeless organization. They take more than 48 hours to respond to emails.
