I transfered money to Philippines 3 times with their app didn't have any problems. They gave me a good exchange rate and everything went through smoothly. 2nd time I made a slight mistake with the receivers surname and when I contacted them about it they sorted it out quickly. I don't know why all the negative reviews I found western union excellent
I will never never use Western Union again. I put a stop pay on a money order in June and still have not gotten my money back. Very unworthy company. Every time I call they tell me to wait a couple more days. It has 3 months. I wouldn't pick a star at all if I didn't have to.
Contacted western union about 2 fraudulent transfers done within last hour and was told that they were completed so nothing could be done about them. I was just out the money including their processing fee. Both showed money available (but not picked up) when the call started and one still showed available (but not picked up) when it ended but they said they could do nothing about it. It was transferred to a bank account so they didn't even need ID to pick it up. If you think having an account with them is secure, think again. I had used WU before so the account was set up. Fraudsters needed to know this so it has something to do with WU, unlike what they implied to me.
My transactions are canceled and I only find out when I call. I have to make inquires to another department why I am being blocked from making transactions. I have no criminal record, work hard to earn my money but I cannot decide who I want to send my money to. I am finished even trying with WU, ooh and yes now I have to wait for 5 to 7 working days before my money is returned into my bank account. As I said its just a sad situation.
I've been trying to collect money in the last 3 days and tried different branches. They all said that the western union system was down and that I couldn't collect the money.
When contacting them via phone, the lady had no clue whatsoever about this outage and said to me: "Ask them to call IT to sort it out". Really?

Transferred money by clicking on the name from a previous transaction assuming it would go to the same place (which it didn't)! Was still charged $19 fee for cancelling so it would go to the right place. Their fault for putting the name on there and not explaining it would go to a different place! Bunch of BS!

This company is the worst, i stopped to send money with this company bc always it is something. I have changed to Money Gram. They are the best and today i have a friend of mine that he only had a wester union close so i used them again.The WORST WORST. I called customer service so they can help me bc something was wrong I got an error. I provided all my info over the phone, and i asked can you please give 2 minutes to confirm something with my friend and he told me he cannot wait that time? Really? What kind customer service do you have! 3 f minutes! Incredible! Ridiculous! I told him cancel it! I went to Money Gram and send it in less than 5 minutes. Well my friend will need to take an uber or walk but we are ok with that untill to use your F**** services!
They use to be principled many years ago. But they have become ghastly and appalling. I could not send funds for a month because of incompetent agents who could not fix a footling with the account. 10 agents who could not solve a petty issue. Instead they sprawl in lies and false promises. The WU mobile application is inefficacious. It is slower that a turtles posterior and freezes more than the Oymyakon. In the end they could not help me after using their services for 10 years. They did not re-fund my 1,019 points either. Don't use western useless.

Do not ever lose or get your money order stolen because youll never see the money again... they will give you the run around until your money order is cashed in. And then give you the run around about how to handle the forgery... i used western union to pay my rent to avoid a $30 convenience fee but from now on id rather pay the fee then to lose $800 dealing with western union. They will never receive my money again

Worst customer service ever! Simply they disappeared with my money. Have tried emailing, calling, chatting online and no one have an answer why the funds weren't transferred. The money left my account but never arrived at country. I was never informed of any issue and the transaction went through. No one picks up the phone at customer care, no one replies to the emails and I don't know where is my money!
World please don't think of going to use western Union Bad bad news going on 6 months still waiting for my money it send all the receipts and documents they say the checks is coming on the mail I call 3 weeks ago even I asked to speak to the supervisor I gave him the case # receipt number and he promised me they will send my check still no checks on the mail

I sent money from canada to india. They said it will deliver by 6th july and on 7th july it was showing cancelled i called and asked them whats the reason for cancellation of the transaction they answered that we cannot disclose why the transaction is cancelled i am the customer i should know why is the transaction cancelled. I never expected these answers from them. Highly dissatisfied. My receiver was in need of money and they didnt received on time that lead to a big issue for me. I would recommend to use Remitly instead if you have any urgency.
Worst customer service, I went twice to a Western Union location to pickup some cash from 2 different recipients on 2 different days, for some reason the transaction was canceled and the teller at the window was not even able to provide a valid reason to why it was rejected. I'm using MoneyGram now and no issues at all.
They sent me a fraudulent check and never apologized!
They sent me a check as a refund for a lost money order, which took about 1.5 months to deliver, and yet the check was fraudulent! After lots of hassle and calling back and forth, they issued another check without the driest apology, saying it would take another 2 to 3 weeks to deliver!

Traditional money transfer aka Western Union will get beat by online transfer cause - convenience, I go through a credit review to send with Western Union while online and crypto is easy. F banks and bureaucracy.

Western union is not crap. I use it all the time. It's just a matter of how you use it. If you're purchasing online this is not a very good option cuz it does not protect a buyer. Western union is best to be used by sending money with someone you personally know. Like sending money to your wife, gf, brother, sister, collegue, etc. it's not for making business online. People need to learn how it works before using this service. And again it's definitely not for online business
I went to pick up money Ihad been sent by a family member. The whole experience takes too long. They ask too many questions. They asked what relation Ihave with the person sending the money. They even asked me where I was born!I was so offended by this question I don't think they are allowed toast this question!

My son traveled 5hrs to pick up a cash pick up transfer, buy a car and drive home. Money ( $4000 was sent and withdrawn from our account in seconds. At pick up my son was told there is a $2000 a day, per person limit to receive. Now they wont refund it for 7 business days... my son is stranded hundreds of miles from home, the car he was to buy was sold to someone else, and I am out the hundreds of dollars it took to undertake this endeavorThanks $#*!s... You Suck!

I used Western Union for almost 20 years so when I started sending money to family and friends they stopped me, and asked for verification. I send my information as they already had my driver's license, dob, address and banking information. They canceled my transfer and demanded information about my job, how much I make my country of birth detailed information about all I've sent money to. And when I asked the reason for all the information they demanded their response was "we cannot disclose it." Should we be fearful about companies like Western Union? Please share your comments.
A nightmare to use. It shows a sample figure, let`s say £200, UK to USA, followed by the $ amount. I then try and enter the amount I want to send and cannot remove/delete the £200. A totally rubbish outfit.
