Searching for a jeweler on the internet with a small business in Easton, MD I thought it would be a perfect place to have my platinum engagement and wedding ring cleaned and re sized. The staff was at first very helpful and accommodating, and I felt good leaving my rings with them. Upon hearing from a friend she thought the price a bit high for these procedures, I called back and asked for a more specific breakdown of the price and what exactly an "acid bath" was. The owner accused me of going behind his back, and calling another store. He told me if I wanted "mall work" done, to come pick up my rings and take them somewhere else. I explained to him I was only trying to have an understanding of what I was paying for, and why it was 3 times more then another small local business. Money was not an issue, but the integrity of my rings was. I was appalled at his tone, his condescending attitude, and most of all how he hung up on the phone on me in the middle of a conversation. I immediately drove back and picked up my rings with my husband fearing to leave them in his hands, and was again yelled at in his business. Being a small business owner means answering to a CUSTOMER their questions, and making them feel secure and safe in their decision. I told him his attitude lost the sale, and I was only looking for answers to questions. He wanted to part friends, which brought a laugh, as we were never friends to begin with, but paying customers. Perhaps their lay the problem. They may do quality work, but I will never know as I will not give my business to someone who hangs up the phone on me. I would look around, the price is better other places, and not at all a "mall store" as he so eloquently put it!
