Either they are part of the CCP that wants info hidden so it can keep the GW wet dream alive or they are catering to the phone idiots who don't need much because It's easier on phones to load for those with small screens. Most people who use Wunderground just want a basic forecast while they are driving and THAT'S it then they get their Google Maps directions and order their taco ahead oftime on the Taco Bell App.etc. Phone users THINK they have a PC in their pocket but have no idea how much they are being ripped off. It's a dumb PC at best and is a direct slap in the face to actual computer users.
I like so many have come to the conclusion, intellicast was and I say this again, WAS 1 of the better weather sites. Now we have a site that gives you what they want to give you, not what we want and need to determine our weather in our area. All I CAN SAY IS I HOPE SOME COMPANY WILL READ THESE AND CREATE A SITE THAT IS CLOSE TO WHAT INTELLICAST WAS.
WU could care less about what the General Public thinks or they would try to give the General Public what they had before.
Wake Up Weather Underground, you may think you are the best/only one around, BUT YOUR NOT.
Seriously? This isn't just a trial of a redesign imagined in a fever dream? What a mess! Just put that cheese back where we've always kept it and we'll pretend this never happened.
Amazing how something so good could be ruined so quickly.
This used to be my favourite weather app. If they would just bring back the widget that would be something. Such a shame.
I have used Intellicast for 15 years and appreciated:
-The GUI
-The interactive map
-The graphical 10 day forecast
-The lack of changing a GREAT site
The Wunderground took them over promising "same great maps, new name"
Wungerground LIED to us
Everything is new
And very poor
Anybody know of a good site like the old Intellicast?
I have long been a fan of Weather Underground. It has, hands down the best, most relevant weather information. Here in the summertime south, the Dew Point is one of the most critical pieces of information as it will tell you whether you will simply be hot or how bad you will swelter; of if, luckily, there is a hot, but comfortable day coming up. It has many other good features as well ----- ** BUT ** ----- it's almost totally USELESS because someone there doesn't know how to program a website! One day it's working; the next day it fails. They fix it & get it right. Then a week later, they've screwed it up again. Maybe there is something I don't know, but in my (admitted) limited programming experience, when I put something in code and it works, it doesn't just quit working. If the parameters have not changed the code should continue to work. I can't understand a) how they keep breaking what works; and b) why they don't test it in a 'beta' page first.
Ha! I just noticed this comment on the bottom of their "Contact Us" webpage:
"Please do not contact the phone numbers or e-mail addresses above to report an issue or submit a complaint. Such e-mails will not be answered."
They must be getting a LOT!
I do not like having to choose multiple tabs to get the same info I could get in one tab. I have already started looking elsewhere to set as my home page.
I have been submitting data from my Personal Weather Station to Weather Underground for years. However, I am now looking for an alternative to Weather Underground. Over the past year their site has been hit or miss. However, their recent update for Personal Weather Stations has completely destroyed my confidence that they can resolve the current problems. They managed to take the PWS interface that provided useful, near real-time data and turn it into a useless poorly designed interface with which to view PWS weather station data. The new interface needs to be screen refreshed to display the latest data. Also it only displays the weather station data in 1 degree increments which results in very crude data plots. Weather Underground has benefited from the data that thousands of PWS owners have supplied to them freely for years. This is how they pay us back. I don't know about other PWS owners, but I expend considerable effort to make sure my weather station online and providing accurate data to Weather Underground. The current downward spiral of this site indicates to me that they could care less about our data.
If I were IBM management, I would not want my companies name associated with this site. The new screen layout is distressingly poor. Portions of the display such as the associated Webcam no longer work. It must be refreshed to see up--to-date weather data versus the rapid fire interface they used to use. What 2nd grader programmed this mess!
WU's update of their weather app is no longer readily useful. What was the was best weather app no longer allows one to see a summary of rain/snow totals on a daily basis--neither on the first graphic showing the daily forecasts, nor on the graphic for the hourly forecast. If one wants to use the forecast to quickly see upcoming conditions for say planning driving, they are out of luck; you now get to total up the hourly figures yourself. If you want to look ahead to a future day you now have to scroll, hour by hour, through all the previous days; no longer can you select a future day in the summary graphic and instantly get the hourly predictions for that day. This app is now loaded up with lots of new information that doesn't help with the most basic of forecast information, in a clear and concise format. We will check back with this app in the distant future to see if the developers listen to their previously loyal users. But we are now looking for a new app that understands its users.
I use to love the old phone app. The new one is horrible and I see I'm not the only one that thinks so. Don't understand why they haven't switched it back to the one everyone loved.
Like the other reviews I've been reading, the app (on Android) sucks! I have a good connection but alway I get the ". Try later." dialog. Worthless anymore!
Totally sucks
Why did they merge.
NOT User friendly
And they sell your info.
SAYS in their privacy policy that they can so there is nothing you can do about it
GO elsewhere
Basic site functions like opening settings and adding cities to favorites don't even work. The site admins should know about the problems but don't fix them. What a joke. Grade F site.
Intellicast had a great interactive map. Wunderground map is horrible. It looks like a kindergarten child made it. It's like they really don't want us to know weather details. I'm so upset.!
I have been a dedicated Intellicast user for many years. Now it is the most useless site ever. I have always hated weather underground. I will be using WeatherForYou from now on.
For a long time now I I get the message try again later. To fix it I have to delete the cache and force it to close. That's ridiculous. Dark sky is fabulous.
Now when I'm listening to my streaming music and look at the weather, it shuts off the music! They seem to be doing everything possible to lose customers, I'm done.
The Weather Underground is a freaking train wreck. Would someone please tell the IDIOTS at IBM and the WU that a new DAY begins at 12:00 am? Look at the 10 day forecast. They have the low temp a day off. For example today (Tuesday) our low will be about 56 degrees. Yet they show the low for Tuesday as 48 degrees. The temp will dip to a 48 degree low--on WEDNESDAY around 6am. WU is a DISASTER compared to years and years ago when I first joined.
Answer: This was deliberate calculated sabotage for some reason
Answer: It won't come back. IBM bought The Weather Company to get at the data so they could package and sell that to their corporate customers using their "Watson" cloud services. Individuals mean nothing. That they've managed to so thoroughly destroy what was once the premiere weather site says a lot about the incompetence behind their core "Watson" products. You might want to tell IBM that.
Answer: They hired a bunch of idiots to manage and design their new site. This included removing features and gutting the radar.
Answer: Yes. We have many employees who come to work each day desperate to appear productive and relevant. We ask them to destroy functional lean websites with bloated nonsense. Meanwhile, our executives require more money so we like to devastate communicative websites with ad-infested infestations of pus-riddled idiocy. Thanks for asking!
Answer: Pointless giving feedback/complaints. I tried this and got an automated reply telling me how much better it was!
Answer: Your local Tv station meteorologist.
