I called TransUnion this morning (11-11-22) between 11am - 12:30pm about what I believe was an unauthorized attempt to obtain credit using my name and credentials. I spoke with a woman named Dee in their customer service / fraud dept. I was thrilled to actually speak w/a human being, and even happier with the level of service I received from Dee. I'm 59 years old, have had CCs for 40 years and as far as I'm aware, this was the first time someone has tried to steal my identity. Dee was very patient w/my questions and concerns and provided thorough answers as well as reassurances. As a customer, I'm grateful that she's on the TransUnion team - and as a business owner for 19 years before recently retiring I'm sure TransUnion is also very grateful Dee is part of their team. Thank you. M Judson
Decided today to request a credit freeze from all three credit agencies due to the recent massive data breach. Managed to place a freeze with Experian and Equifax online in less than 2 minutes each. After 5 attempts with TransUnion, where I was repeatedly thrown off of their website, I decided to call customer support. I've now been on hold for 20 minutes. Added bonus...you have to press hold every 30 seconds to stay on the line. Sorry dudes, you suck. Now I'm gonna select 2 for a call back. What do you think the chances are that that will ever happen?

I activated a credit freeze and cannot deactivate it. It will not let me log in, change my password, or reach anyone over the phone. It gets stuck on "enter your SSN", but it never registers it. A complete mess.

I am a victim of identity theft and my Transunion credit score dropped from 800+ to 650 because of a fraudulent account opened in my name. Transunion told me that despite I dont have any responsibility with this issue, my credit score will remain 650 for 7 years! So now I wonder how reliable their credit reports are, they provide wrong information to banks and institutions day after day!
I am trying to unfreeze my account so I can make a purchase and I need to have my credit accessed. I have spent hours on the phone and online without a resolution. I have been told there is a technical problem with the online access and as well as the security questions. Then I was also told to submit a copy of my driver's license and current bank statement to *******@transunion.com which I have done. Upon calling 2 days later, I was then told this will take 3-5 business days to access the email and then work on the technical problem. Since I have been informed that I answered all the questions asked of me correctly, why is it necessary to submit the documents via email? These people play on our fears of identity theft and then hijack our accounts and hold them hostage. I would risk identity theft over dealing with Transunion.
These Incompetent people, uneducated, low IQ MTF'S refuse to fix errors. After proof/notice and confirmation of errors. I am going to Sue their $#*!ing asses. There is NOT any late payment on my history nor in my account payment history for the month of August. I hate these MTF'S with a got damn passion 😒. I wish to God a tornado kill every last one of those MTF'S.
I'm not going to go into all the details of my particular issues with transunion. It just seems like the majority of the time the information they obtain is not accurate and it seems that they often side with the billion dollar companies and provide individuals with no documentation or details about how information was verified. Which is...ironic because it only effects your ability to be a functioning member of society. So sense in vetting information we get from big companies because they aren't ever doing anything nefarious... especially in matters of money. Transunion is a joke.
After each payment made on time, got a job even before graduated and a work permit, only to find that the score went down and they can't even spell my name!
Off shore call center - reps speak English with a very heavy native tongue accent which makes it very difficult to understand them.
Online dispute feature failed for me - called the supplied number for disputes and was told I had to fax or mail the info to them! Really?! Fax or snail-mail only in 2021?
You get lured by a free report however the their service is subscription based ~$20/month and there is no method to cancel online / while logged in! That is very suspicious. It appears they are purposely hiding that feature to retain unknowing customers.
Tip for consumers:
Choose another credit score service! Anyone but TransUnion!
Complete lack of transparency or knowledge, - I am considering legal action against them. Their "specialists" giving contradicting advices, making it clear that they are not sure themselves about why their buggy software results are so unstable.
Tip for consumers:
Just don't use it

This website is literal garbage. I have tried to login and receive my credit report from several browsers, and it still won't work. To log out and log back in was the only recommendation I got from Tammy in the customer service chat. It takes an eternity to load, but I'm not sure if it ever actually loads because I waited very very long time each time I tried it and it never worked.
Maybe they'll give me my credit report through Facebook or "Twitter". Even that part of the website is out of date by over 2 months. They need to get at least one thing right anywhere.
Tip for consumers:
It’s useless.

None available. Credit report was requested.
I am trying to chase them down because of inaccurate information. They have not gotten back after 3 weeks. Now there is more information to dispute.
Cannot get through the phone tree which has issues with voice recognition, won't allow a call back for extended wait times. Disconnected without any option to get live help.
Tip for consumers:
Ongoing issues with the accuracy of information they are posting, non-functioning phone tree and extremely poorly designed website. Irresponsible company.
Holy Smoked Bananas Batman!
This company is awful. If they were not a government allowed monopoly, they would have gone out of business years ago. The website, the phone service, everything is just abysmal in every measurable way!
The only decent part is when you can finally get to an actual person after what feels like a Lord of the Rings level brutal slog through their poorly constructed digital labyrinth, seemingly designed only to waste my limited amount of time on this earth.
I have not been more financially secure in my life. I owe nothing but revolving Visa accounts which are paid off every month. But, Transunion has decided to lower my FICO score by over 50 points and they won't tell me why. They just hang up on me. There should be a government department to complain about their outrages behavior.
Tip for consumers:
Do not rely on or use Transunion

Service
TransUnion has by far, the worst customer service I have ever experienced. All of their call center representatives speak very poor English, and you can't understand some of them. I subscribed for Credit Monitoring, at almost $30 per month. They are constantly locking my account for "suspicious activity". I call them, get placed on hold for 30 minutes, go through the verification process, and then they unlock my account. I ask them what the suspicious activity is, and they can't answer me. A few days, later, the account is locked again, and I have to call back in. I'm not going to spend an hour on the phone every week, unlocking my account so I can get alerts. This company is absolutely ridiculous, and it's concerning that such an incompetent organization is in charge of keeping all of our information. My experience with Equifax has been much, much better. Don't waste your time with TransUnion, they're clowns.
This clearly out of the 3 reporting agencies is the most inadequate. I really have to wonder if they even know what they are doing. One day they jump my score 43 points because I paid off a credit card. A few days later they drop it 42 with no explanation. Nothing to indicate why it dropped. I've had this kind of stuff happen so many times it's ridiculous. I filed a dispute, they said it would be answered in so many days. Well I would say 6 months is a little over the time limit. I think they need to get their act together and stop abusing our credit scores. I wish I could block them but that's not an option. Kind of scary that our credit I'd in the hands of such an inept company.
Never wasted so much time in my life. I never write reviews but in this case I have to. There's nothing I can really do this is a legal monopoly. If that makes sense. Very unorganized I mean VERY there system has major flaws if there was zero stars that's what they would get from me. They are causing my identity fraud than preventing. This is free speech I'm not basing it on personal experience just the way their system works. Zero stars
Tip for consumers:
Entire system is flawed

If I could give a negative 0 I would. They are the absolutely worst out of all 3 credit bureaus. You can never get in touch with a live human being. This is why Amazon is one of the best most profitable companies in the world. It's about speed and agility. I needed to lift a freeze on my account. I couldn't speak to a person, just a phone tree from Hell, when you go online, they said I had to mail in the request. US Post Mail. It's 2022, technology and speed is how we live! Who still uses the Post Office. You guys are trash... FIRE your leadership and CEO

I joined TransUnion to keep tabs on my credit score and since 2020, I have not been able to access the service. When I call the customer service number, the first thing that ask is if you want to cancel your subscription. I canceled my subscription last month and they say that I can check my score until 1/7/23.
Guess what, I still stay stuck at the view data tab.
They should reimburse me for one year of fees.
They are the worst credit monitoring agency ever.
There should be negative stars, they would get a 5.
Had to pick a star to submit the rating.

Yesterday, I tried to obtain my credit report (keep in mind, my report on Equifax is 745 which is Very Good). When I signed up on the TransUnion website, they took my information, charged my credit card... and then my login did not work. I spent the next two days talking to representatives all over India and that got me no closer to being able to log in. If you're looking for a free report, you won't find it here. These people made me write them a letter requesting a report and I have no confidence that I will get anything intelligible from them back.
Tip for consumers:
Save yourself some time and use Equifax.

I did not end up using the service because I never got my login to work. I had to get the provider to use another credit agency.
Been trying to order my report the past 2.5 hour...the agents are useless, their chat live agents disappeared on me after having me wait 30 minutes each, their website does not generate a report even though I was able to log in. I still haven't spoken to anyone. This is absolutely not real...it took me a few minutes max to get hold of Equifax and Experian live agents without any issues. Never encountered anything like this. It's cringe
This should be an option. Free credit reports from Transunion. All thought I read through the Federal Trade Commission website and found out that annualcreditreport[dot]com is the place to get a free credit report.
My auto insurance company uses TransUnion to acquire credit information, which then affects my car insurance bill. I own two homes outright, have paid for a dozen cars, have millions in the bank, am in my 50's, and TransUnion says that I don't have credit history. Criminal organization since all that happens we you call TransUnion is you get an automated salesperson trying to sell you an expensive credit monitoring plan. TransUnion has no real customer service, and is merely a convenient tool for insurance companies to utilize as a reason to arbitrarily increase your auto insurance rates. There needs to be a class-action lawsuit against TransUnion!

My TransUnion accout was correct.
Must of got lucky... plus their CyberScout daily credit monitoring platform that I received after a healthcare data breach is still OK.
I feel like this is something that I should be paying attention to. I pay 14.99 and log in once every 3 months or so and it shows me my credit history.
I wonder if i can get this anywhere for free?
