Hello. I purchased 5 old US peace dollars from a seller on Mercari. The coins arrived when I was visiting family as it was a long weekend- Thanksgiving. When I arrived back to the house I found 5 peace dollars that seemed suspicious so I took them to a coin dealer where he scanned the coins and found they were fake. I immediately filed an issue with Mercari and they said it was beyond the 72 hour window and they'd give me a coupon for my trouble...I said this was not an acceptable resolution and had to go back and forth many times before they said that if I can provide proof that they would refund me. I went to another coin dealer that I know of with an xray scanner to tell exactly what the coins are made of- silver plated brass (prior to 1964 dimes, quarters, 50 cent pieces and dollars are 90% silver). I took many photos and even videos of each coin being scanned. Sent it to mercari. And Mercari said they need an expert third party to say the coins are fake. The evidence I sent wasn't enough. They are the worst company. I will be going to a secret service office in Ft Myers Florida that specializes in tracking down counterfeit US currency next. Mercari and everyone there is a joke. Avoid at all costs.
