on 4/21/16Answer... I went to the BBB and got a refund.
Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Once they charge your credit card, it is over. When we called to complain the girls who answered the phone were great, but nothing happened until I contacted the Better Business Bureau. That was when they responded. They refunded our money very quickly. Too many complaints with the BBB and they bare in trouble with licensing
This seems to be a common theme with this company.
I tell everyone I can, this service is a scam! I did get my money back since the accommodations were not what was reqestec. My suggestion is to challenge the charges with your credit card company. I never use a booking service any more. I go to yelp, find local accommodation and book it directly with the hotel. Good luck! Scammers have most of the angles covered.
I guess I lucked out, even though I was upset that they charged my card for the entire amount immediately when I thought I was giving my card to hold the room, it all worked out. I made the reservation well in advance and called the hotel directly to confirm the reservation, at which time the hotel gave me their reservation confirmation #. Next time I am calling the hotel(s) directly. Not going through any more websites. Not worth taking the chance.
The way they answer is by sending multiple copies of their policy. It is my belief this company lacks integrity and really do not care about the customers well being or satisfaction. I am still trying to get credit from a reservation I cancelled and somehow that discussion was not recorded. My opinion would be to keep pushing for your rights as a customer for your satisfaction and let others know about how this business does business. Best of luck!
Yes-- I never got my money back from Get a room. They are a middleman. Worthless. Call the hotel directly and beware of the sites like Expedia that may use them.
I only tried them the one time and since it was a disaster! I never got one apology for their mess up - actually the lady was rude. I work in customer service and know how you are suppose to deal with these types of calls. She would interrupt me when trying to explain and couldn't understand why I was so upset. I told her I will be needing a room in 3 hours and don't have one and most hotels are booked over spring break and very expensive. Ugh! Makes me angry thinking about it. I seriously would not use them. Maybe it would go fine for people but I had a horrible experience with horrible service. For the hours I spent dealing with it the money saved was not worth it. Plus, they never gave me the option of giving my money back!
See my post. I disputed the charge on my credit card and was refunded.
