It seems as if meetup organizers are making a lot of money collecting fees. For instance, one meetup I joined has nearly 200 members. Dues to Meetup.com for the year are about about $190. She charges $15/person/year. She collects almost $3000/year. No cost for meeting space. No paid guest speakers. No refreshments. Meetings are once a month for 2 hours. Just the idea that this is not talked about up front puts me off. Is there a policy about this?

The site costs organizers 180 a year for meetup. Likely she runs another website for dating I would guess, and that costs her more. And I have no doubt she has insurance costs and may operated as a an LLC.
