When I was on Marriott's website (marriott.com) I selected option to make a reservation. I made reservation (still on marriott.com). Confirmation came from Reservation Counter, which was the first indication that they were involved. In fact, it's the first time I ever heard that they existed. Crooks is a little mild to describe them.

It was the phone number that came up when we Googled hotels with pools in Rock Hill, SC. We did not realize we were choosing a booking service.

I was calling the hotel company reservation line and for some reason was rerouted to the Reservation Counter number. I wanted to contact the hotel company directly.

I popped up when I googled the Hotel property. They appear to be a part of reservations.
