Ordered a 55 inch Samsung TV 3 days ago from these guys. The TV arrived today by expedited shipping from ups. Everything worked out perfectly. With price and fast delivery I'm completely satisfied. As promised a 5 star review for them!
A of M are a classic bait and switch sales operation. Buyer beware. Stick with industry leaders like B&H.

Sell import models with the marking on the camera in Japanese. Never mention this on the website. Mention it as an after the fact when they call you to confirm the purchase. Charge 10% return fee. Would have been stuck with a useless camera and lens if i hadn't read the reviews and cancelled the order at the last minute. All their sales and promos are a bogus- they are for import models with no batteries, no warranties and all camera markings in a foreign language.
Ordered a Canon R7 for $1449 on line. Email said I had to call to confirm.
Then I was told it was an "import model" no warranty, no battery, etc.
Oh. But they did have a retail box available for $1799.
Business is still done this way in certain places...
Purchased a New Fujifilm camera with lenses. Following day I get an email from them for me to call them, to confirm the order, (Like they cant call). I call their number and they start telling me how good a deal I got, because it was on sale. Then they said "you know there is no warranty on this product", and if I want a warranty I have to purchase it for another $500. I complained that this was unacceptable, and that their listing did not state the absence of any warranty. They were also rude. Told them to cancel the order. Will never buy here again.

Corrupt sales process. Will call you with shady info about your product and try to screw you over. All positive reviews are FAKE. The Fake 5 stars reviews are literally part of their business model to flush out the real negative reviews... its disgusting! Items are non-warranty international versions or knock offs. Then they will threaten to charge you and say "ok what now tough guy". Embarrassing stay away from these high pressure sales crooks!
I was currently looking at TVs for my living room online, when i cam onto this website. They have a variety of appliances for sale and the prices are just great. I know where I'm going to purchase my TV from!
This company has no product support and the return process is handled by a third party that appears to try to just keep shining the customer on until they give up. It's been over a month since I got my defective modem/router and still haven't been credited. Incredible ineptness shown in each transaction with this company and its partner NewEgg.

I comparison shopped price and they were quite competitive with other larger online retailers, beating them in many cases. They were also helpful and friendly when explaining differences in models. I would rather my hard earned dollar go to a smaller retailer than a large one. As my first order with Abe's of Maine, I have been pleased so far. Should everything continue to go smoothly, I will continue to use them repeatedly. Jeff Stevens was helpful in sorting out my order for my best possible experience
If it's not obvious from the below reviews, almost everything Abe's of Maine does is a lie and a scam. Starting with their name - they have nothing to do with Maine at all. I think they're in New Jersey? Stay far away, it's not worth the discount.
Been using them for over 10 years, I don't know how other people feel about them but Ive been treated like family on all my purchases. The reward they provide for customer loyalty is unmatchable. Ive been getting discount on everything from TVs and cameras to toasters. Thank you Abes for the royal treatment.
They had the lowest price on a camera, so we ordered it from Abes of Maine. Next day we get the infamous call that we should call them back regarding our order. I ignored it at first, thinking it was a customer survey or something. We waited for the product to ship, but it never did. Finally called them back, and they said the product we ordered was a "grey-market" item, intended for the Japanese market and may not have English menus, etc. Then we go online and see all the negative reviews against the company. Luckily we waited a bit longer, and by then our credit card company revoked the transaction because it took too long to be completed.
We counted our blessings to walk away with no cost, other than a week wasted.
They did the exact same thing to me that they did to many other previous customers. Called to "verify address" but actually we're just trying to gouge me for more money. It's a dishonest, unscrupulous, and unlawful business practice.
Tip for consumers:
Do not bother with this company. There are plenty of honest online retail stores to give your money to.

Abe's advertises Fuji cameras at a lower price than all competition, enticing you to buy from their store to save money. Once you are lured in and place your order they send you an email that you are not getting the USA made camera, but the Asian made item. Then they sent the camera in an old Fuji box that was torn both inside and out with large tears in multiple places. I sent photos of the horrid box but they have yet to send a new box and refuse to respond to my emails. If I could post photos of the box I believe no one would buy from them again.
I do not recommend this company.

Ordered two cameras. Both were listed as "new" and in stock. Created an account and paid for them. Received an email that my purchase was complete. So far everything looked great. Next morning I received a call from Abe's. I was immediately asked what battery I wanted to buy. I asked if the cameras were new in the original box with the factory included items. Answer was that the cameras were new but not in the box. If I wanted that it would cost more. Then I was given prices for the cameras in original box as offered by the manufacture. Over $100 more than advertised on the Abes website. Fortunately they never ran my credit card and when I asked to cancel the order I immediately received the cancellation email and they hung up on me - nice.
I would not trust this company at all.
Classic bait and switch. Their ads show up on google searches with enticingly low prices. Once you put in an order you will get a call saying that what you ordered is not the US version and they will sell you the higher priced "US version". They will say that you can price match up to two weeks after purchase - do not believe this. Once you've purchased it they will not price match other sites, and they will charge you a 15% restocking fee + shipping if you return it. Stay away.
The camera hood on my $2500 Sony 100 - 400 lens broke after one week of use. I have a 2-year warranty on my camera from Abes. I called the insurance company and they said Abes covers the camera lens for the first 30 days after sales. So I called Abes. Micheal at Abe's (by the way he sold me the camera lens) told me they only cover products for 14 days after the sale. Michael blamed it on Sony. He tried to give me a $77 hood after I had paid an extra $500 for the hood and base arm. Seriously? What kind of company is this? Who only covers their products for 14 days? There is something very wrong with this company. Stay away from them!
The camera was advertised at 3549$ I ended up paying 3799 $ after canceling about 10 times. Do not buy from these people they should be prosecuted. The state Attorney should look into there sales and advertising practice. But in NEW Jersey don't hold your breath.
Order an item. Phone to verify. Some story, not in stock. Upsell attempt from $250 to $400. No thanks refund. We know where to find you. Terrible. I didn't think an established company would use these tactics now.
Had the opportunity to go to the "store" since I live 15 miles away... this a bad setup... not a store at all, just a bunch of offices & storerooms. No stock or display cases or anything that would suggest a legit business. They could not upsell me (they tried) as I knew exactly what I wanted. ALL their merchandise is grey market or used, hence the low prices. As long as you go in with your eyes wide open and don't need the usa warranties it's not a bad deal, but never and I mean NEVER buy anything online from these people
No shipping yet, 13 days after I was ordered and billed. No notice of back order and "it will leave the warehouse in a day or two". Multiple emails not answered, and lied to on phone regarding shipping--"just went on the truck". Ridiculous hours, especially for the west coast. There will be an upsell call after ou order online--that is why I order online, to avoid that.
Worst transaction other, waiting on Paypal dispute, may escalate, to get a refund.
Avoid at all costs.
I ordered a 17-40 mm Canon lens on Black Friday. A day later. Received an email to contact Ted about my order. He informed me the lens I ordered was an international model not compatible with my US camera. As a professional photographer I know this not to be accurate. When I questioned the manufacturer number posted on their website, he told me it was the same number whether it was an international or USA model and proceeded to the up sell of the US model lens. Fortunately I was able to Promptly cancel my order and my credit card was not charged. Stay away from these guys. They are not the same Abes of Maine who went bankrupt in 2012.The Better Business Bureau rates them an F.
Twice now Abe's of Maine has "sold" me a camera at a very good price. The first time they called me and wanted me to pay for "extras". I declined, and the next thing I knew my order was canceled. This time they placed my order in "back ordered" for nearly three month. When I looked on line today at the status is was "cancelled", though I didn't cancel it. I emailed them and got a call back saying I can order an "American" model for $110 more. I declined and they wanted to cancel the order rather than maintain the charade of "back ordered". I will never use them again and don't see why anyone else would either.
Hi
This has to be the worst company in the world! I placed an order with them. I never got my order. And now it looks like they filed to bankruptcy and reopened show in a different state to avoid there responsibility to there customer of delivering the products they got paid on. I have tried to call them and email them and all I ever get back it a default email saying.
Thank you very much for shopping with Abes Of Maine
Please contact our customer service department at *******237 and one of our representatives will gladly assist you.
Your business is greatly appreciated and we look forward to hearing from you soon and resolving the issue!
Sincerely,
Abes Of Maine
They never care to forward my email to the correct person.
If it's true they filed for bankruptcy how is it that they are still using the same domain name and adverting? This is very misleading to customers.
Negative five stars
Check out was a breeze - on line customer help was very fast and efficient. Shipping was free for UPS for this order! Only thing I could praise was delivery because I just placed the order!. Not only do they have the cheapest pricing but for all the extra things like the salesman explaining in detail the differences between Nikon and canon Dslr cameras
