Ordered a 55 inch Samsung TV 3 days ago from these guys. The TV arrived today by expedited shipping from ups. Everything worked out perfectly. With price and fast delivery I'm completely satisfied. As promised a 5 star review for them!

A of M are a classic bait and switch sales operation. Buyer beware. Stick with industry leaders like B&H.

Checkout was fast and simple, everything worked smoothly. Afterwards, I got a call verifying my order, and they notified me of an additional promotion that I was unaware of and applied it to my order. Fantastic service! Thanks!

Two years ago, I wrote about the bait-and-switch practice of Abes of Maine. Unfortunately, my own experience did not deter me from swallowing a bait again. I wanted to buy LG OLED65C7P TV. Abes of Maine offered an excellent price of $1,996 with free shipping. Everything looked very transparent on the site, therefore I completed the purchase. I receive an email stating that Your order has been placed and will be processed as soon as possible. Next day, a company representative called me and said that to proceed with the order, I must buy shipping insurance for about $300. She added that without this insurance the company would lose money on the sale. Thus, she admitted that the price on the site was fake. Since I refused to pay for the insurance, she canceled the order.
I looked up complaints about Abes of Maine online. There are hundreds. Do not get into the trap!

Tip for consumers:
Stay away!

I feel I dodged a bullet by cancelling my order with Abe's. After ordering a Fuji XT2 for a very good price, I received two emails and a message. When I connected, the question was, I ordered the body only, so if I want the charger, battery, manual, etc...(basically everything in the box of a new camera) it will be another 150. Really? The guy tried to drop that price in an effort to seal the deal. In the end- no warranty either. An international version, but not noted in the item. Abe's of New Jersey- the international version comes in the same box. You are an awful company and deserve every one of the complaints you seem to amass on the internet. If I can help one person steer clear, I'd be happy. Believe me- head to a reputable retailer. You'd end up paying the same price anyway, but you won't feel scammed.

Total false advertising. They show a canon 5d iv save $1300 so I oder, then I get a call asking if I want batteries and charger I said of course. They guy said you need the US model so the price changes by $400 for US model, nothing on the website says the low price is for a Japanese model. So I call the next day and finally after about 10 tries to get through I told them to cancel my order, the guy lies to me and says its shopped 6 hours later I get a shipping confirmation saying the the label has just now been printed. He could have stopped the order. This place is not to be trusted I would never do business with them again.

I placed my order at the end of the day 6/7/2017. The next day 6/8/2017 I called to see if they had any trouble with my order and I was told that the product I ordered is not a U. S product, so therefore I needed to buy shipping insurance. This is the second time this happens and this company does not respect the price that is listed.

Great prices on cameras and accessories - This site has some of the lowest prices I've found on cameras and accesssories. You must be warned though... they will call you back and try to sell you on optional gear that you don't need. If you can deal with that kind of sales technique its worth the hassle for the savings.

Watch out for the bait and switch tactics from the company! I ordered a Flat screen for a great price, then was contacted and told the model I ordered was an import that was only good for Canada and would not receive USA support & warranty. The USA model added another $265 on to the price I already paid. No where on the order page does it clearly define what "import" is. I ended up canceling my order after the sales representative tried to talk me into the sale of the "USA" model. This was my first and last experience with Abe's of Maine!

I saw an on line ad for a Fuji XPro2 Body Only for $1,349. I went on line and ordered the camera. I waited three days for a tracking number. Never got it. I called and was transferred to a salesperson. He told me I was only buying the camera body - no battery, no charger not even a lens cap. He then tried to charge me $170 for the batter and charger. I told him to just send me the camera. It's now 10 days later and I still don't have a tracking number. I e-mailed twice but no response. Everyone knows - when you buy a camera body - you are buying a boxed camera - without a lens -and that camera includes everything the manufacturer included. Abe's is doing an obvious bait and switch. Very dishonest...

Expect Extra Charges of $288 or more! I ordered a 65" OLED65C7P for $2,339 which I thought was a good deal. It was at least $250 less than I could have bought it locally. However, when they called this evening to inform me of the $288 I would be charged for shipping insurance I was shocked to say the least. Then to make matters worse they were going to charge me a cancellation fee because I wouldn't agree to the extra charges. I did get a call back and they offered the TV for $2,400 which is $300 below the current price, but to do business with such a shady company... I think not.

How does a company justify advertising free shipping and then call their potential customers to tell them they have to pay shipping insurance.

Buyer beware.

This was my first purchase from Abe's of Maine. Ted placed my order,(samsung un60f7100) he was very friendly and eager to assist. Had a little difficulty with some feedback regarding tracking info, but received my info and products in a timely manner. Kudos to a polite and very willing to please staff. I would definitely purchase from Abes of maine again in the future

Ordered a new tv from here because it was the lowest price I could find. Shipping had a catch and wasn't the best but it turned out ok. I paid for special white glove shipping, it took a little longer than I thought but I still saved with them.

I ordered an "imported" T5i and didn't realize it, even though it was clearly stated on the listing. I just saw the price and ordered.

I then got a call from Roy and he explained the difference between retail and import.

So I decided to go with the retail version even though it was more expensive.

Roy noticed that I was a first-time buyer and he could get me an additional discount. It was actually a very generous discount and the retail version ended up only being about $60 more.

I know some people are upset about the "import/retail" thing. But I actually appreciated the call to explain the difference.

In the end, I got the camera I wanted at a good price

I got a canon 5D from them and it was a fairly smooth process with the exception of them telling me that a number of dead pixels is normal in modern day DSLRs. I opened up a jpeg file and found a few pixels when blown up on photoshop that were not normal or hot as they are called and then asked them about a refund and they told me this was in the scope of normal. I then called canon who did verify this and said that all of their DSLRs might have a couple dead pixels but they could be mapped out. I don't notice them all on prints so I kept the camera. Good website and would order again.

I live in California and stumbled upon their website, I was a little nervous to order from them since I live in California. I ended up ordering a TV from them, I got an up-sell call to buy white glove delivery and also an extended warranty. Everything arrived in good condition, the delivery company A/M did a good job taking out the Tv plugging it in and making sure it worked. They also called to schedule delivery time with me.

The prices are great when you order your equipment - then when they call to confirm it they attempt to upsell the HECK out of everything and give you false information about your equipment. Despite what they will tell you you CAN purchase your items without purchasing their in house warranty - and you had better know the equipment you're purchasing because they will tell you you will need a whole lot more! I would never recommend this company to any other photographers

Products used:
None - I cancelled my order when I had heard enough misinformation trying to upsell me

This company sold me a 5 year extended warranty for my Samsung LCD TV, and repairs were to be done by www.myrepairtech.com. Now that I need to use it, this company is nowhere to be found. Since Abes of Maine sold me this extended warranty, they should be obligated to have my TV repaired. Not going to happen.

Abes of maine review - i bought my Panasonic FZ50 from them with relative ease, they offer good products and reasonable prices, the only thing i didnt particularly like about them is: them trying to sell me some extra accessories that weren't actually intended for use with that model camera. So if they offer you a product make sure you research it and make double certain the accessories offered is compatible with your equipment. Great shipping time with standard express and very helpful customer service.

Do not. I repeat do not be enticed by the cheap prices for photographic equipment. This has been the worst online purchase of all time. I purchased an 85mm Sigma Art lens two months ago for my Nikon D810. The lens does not focus on the spot you select. I have been trying for 50 days to return the defective lens, but Abes of Maine's customer service wont give me an RMA number to return the lens. I spoke the person at Abes, Lisa Berry, and provided what she requested. After that, silence. She does not respond. STAY AWAY!

I ordered a canon 5d camera from them. In the begging I got a voice mail from them asking to call them this made me a bit concerned. I called them and it turned out they just wanted to offer me accessories. I ended up buying a memory card and flash from them for a very good price.

Scam Scam Scam. Purchased a Samsung LED tv. Received a call from Abe the next day. He said the TV I will get at that price is not made in Japan, but one made in Malaysia with bad parts. For $200.00 more I can get one made in Japan. When I refused to bite they wanted to add $100.00 for shipping insurance. I told them to cancel the order. They never did. They will hang up my credit card because it is a pending charge and cannot be disputed. I called Samsung and they said Abe lied... no such thing about different TV's of the same model made in different places. This is a boiler room bait and switch operation. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM ABES OF MAINE

This people is use a method of quasi extorsion. They place a bait price and after that they charge you with a new price, +200 o +300 more. After the purchase, they send you a mail and phone number. When you call they transfer you with a rude and skunk guy, with a gangster style, and they sell you the Chinese story of the warranty, and so on and so for. They are scammers. This website must be shut down because they are a fraud under the sun. Stay away from them!

This is one of the biggest rip offs on the web. They purposely advertise false prices so they can get you to order and then you are FORCED to call and "verify" the order. There is actually no verification needed, they make you call on EVERY single order so they can try and sell you a warranty or insurance. If you do not pay the additional money (anywhere from $200 - $400 more) they will not fulfill your order. This site is a total waste of time and designed to make you pay more than other bigger sites like Amazon, Costco, and Best Buy. Buyer beware there is a REASON they are lower than the completion.

I had been looking for a digital camera for my son's Christmas present at reasonable price, and finally found it here for $400 less than any of the local stores, or even the online markets. I wanted to make sure the deal included items I wanted, and I wouldn't be shortchanged, so I called customer service. I couldn't believe it had the same accessories as well! I ordered it right there with the rep I had on the phone, and even got added a bag with the money I saved. The shipping was extra fast and got it well before Christmas. This will be the first place I look from now on for my camera needs.
