My experience with Airbnb Luxe was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I stepped into my luxurious villa, I was greeted with unparalleled comfort and elegance. Every detail, from the stunning architecture to the impeccable interior design, was thoughtfully curated to create a truly unforgettable experience. The amenities, from private pools to personal chefs, exceeded my expectations and made me feel like royalty. Moreover, the concierge service was exceptional, catering to my every need and ensuring a seamless stay from start to finish. Airbnb Luxe has redefined luxury travel for me, and I can't wait to indulge in another unforgettable experience.
Airbnb has the worst customer service I have ever dealt with in my life. No support when things go wrong. I didn't feel safe at a place I rented and check in or stay there. They will not refund the full amount. Was promised a $300 refund, then only give $200. The reservation costed $423. I will never book through them again! This has been a nightmare!
Reading all the nightmare stories below would definitely make me hesitant to use airbnb. I've only stayed at two properties, one in California and Florida from hosts who had previous reviews and seemed to be well vetted. I also messaged back a few times to get a sense of who I was dealing with. Obviously there's some horror stories out there, so it seems to be a risk either way so just look for those properties and hosts with good reviews from previous travelers. I've never had an issue anytime my family and I have used the platform, but every experience is obviously different.
Worthless after a change of date, they cannot issue an invoice with a new date So you can't report it to taxes i cannot ge5 money back from taxi office The t3ll e give factuur from wrong date theybtel me the can not changhe factuur oonly date i can not stay in 2 plCe at same time i If i give wrong date on factuur to tex office that is fraud you go to gail
Having to provide copies of official documents and upload them online is very uncomfortable. Website is hard to get the right settings. Language and currency. Search machine is not working nice. Communication what to do next is unclear if something is not working properly. I will never use it again.
Airbnb should be a last resort option. I have only used them when I can't find a hotel availability and have almost always been disappointed. Most guests seem reluctant to post honest reviews for fear of offending the host and Airbnb does not actually inspect the properties to determine the accuracy of the hosts descriptions so its a crap shoot. Over the years the fees have also escalated in price with insanely high cleaning fees and Airbnb "service" charges which can be several hundreds of dollars. Their customer service and website platform are also horrible. They have shed many of their customer service reps so its pretty much all web based, another reason for opting for a hotel.
I booked 5 days stay in the 105 unit and end up cannot sleep the whole first night. The tub so dirty, you cannot take a bath, the window AC is old and make a lot noise. I was stacked in the unit, email to the host, he did not care. I sent the pictures and videos to Airbnb and called 3 people, all they did was create a case and sent to a group. I have very bad experience with airbnb, I asked for 4 days full amount refund, that unit has no value for me. Maybe I get used to it, living in CA bay area, during the night, the AC not even runs by cool weather.
Our vacation rental property has driven more than $100,000 to date into Airbnb coffers. We had earned all 5-star reviews for 5 years until we had one unfortunate double-booking and had to cancel a guest reservation well in advance of their stay. All of a sudden Airbnb took away our Superhost status and has made it very difficult to restore. A single mistake! And the fact that we've been given a 4.99 rating for one "revenge review" and can apparently never make it to 5 stars again. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. Airbnb is the poster child of GREED! VRBO has been a much more reasonable partner. I wish there was more competition in the vacation rental platform space. Stay tuned. I may start one.
Tip for consumers:
This review is about Airbnb as a service company.
I booked an Airbnb vacation rental home in Mussomeli, Sicily for two nights for my husband and myself. The property is located in the old part of the town. It was described as being within walking distance of shops and restaurants. This was important to us as we were being dropped off by one driver upon arrival and then picked up by another driver on departure day. Our driver would not have found the house had it not been for the postman delivering mail who guided our car to a nearby street. The house itself was on a steep hill surrounded by other row homes and not accessible by car. There were no restaurants or shops nearby. Inside were steep stairs going up and steep stairs going down. We thought we'd break our necks carrying suitcases upstairs and visiting the toilet at night, as BR and bathroom were on different floors. We closed the door and left. Awful place that should never be a vacation rental.
Tip for consumers:
Since we don't speak Italian, the owner had promised to help us get situated and be our interpreter as needed. With no public transportation or taxis in town, he'd even offered to find us find a car and driver. But the owner was not there. He was vacationing in Morocco.
Airbnb in Ottawa, ON: a host who manages a lot of buildings cancelled while I was in the air. Upon landing, she stopped communicating with me: husband had dementia, plus traveling with two dogs.
Airbnb in Toronto: I contacted host and he said he'd get room ready. I showed up at the door and he didn't. It was late at night and I was a senior widow.
Airbnb in Phuket: broken gym equipment, dirty building. Host shows 7-year old photos: now couch and chair are dirty, broken table and chair, broken showerhead, and faucet moves around.
What's troubling is that there is no customer service to compensate guests. In a hotel, they'd offer you a free night's stay. They accept the dirty place in Phuket and didn't do much to help me out in Toronto. As for Ottawa, the Ottawa Citizen wrote up this "host" as she was very bad at managing multiple buildings. There is no quality control. Airbnb does not ask for recent photos from hosts. It's not worth it.
Besides the rates are getting so high that I might as well stay in a hotel. And it's become apparent that hosts have multiple homes that they rent out. This creates a housing shortage and increases prices in homes. This locks people out of the housing market. There are too many negatives.
Last week we booked a penthouse at San Roque. I was in touch with the host and spoke on the telephone 30 minutes before our arrival. When we arrived she was not there and refused to answer her phone. We waited and then contacted Airbnb who tried to contact Petra without success. They refunded our money but after 5 hours drive and by then it was dark we had to find alternative accommodation. Ok. BUT. They are STILL advertising this penthouse with Petra being labelled as a Superhost! Criminal way to treat people after sitting on our money since September

I had a horrible host experience and he dediced to replace ALL locks and linens at my expense. Airbnb allowed. How do you break TWO locks? I reported one broken BEFORE I left, owner 2 hours away didn't care to come or send local help. Airbnb told me I needed to take photos and videos upon checking in and when leaving to prove conditions! Really? The host/Airbnb client more important than a renter. When they run out of renters, what then? Good luck! My last time for sure
Absolute scam. My 3 in 4 experiences were awful. Will never ever use this platform again. I talked to other ppl and they shared equally awful stories. Customer service is crap, super slow plus wants you to accept hyper expensive calls from US. You need to report stuff immediately which I had to learn but even if you do so they won't help you. Each time I used their services I paid more than I would pay using booking or even expensive hotels. I used it usually where I couldnt find any other place. Owners charge you more than hotels, dont provide proper sleeping conditions, allow other ppl in your bathroom etc and claim you should appreciate their hospitality (!). I will use booking next time.

So disappointed in #airbnb... Will never use again
We followed the government regulations. No travel.
We try to keep our kids' safe and health in this mean time.
End up, they have neither vacation nor Xmas gift.
Because of these ridiculous "Service fee" ( which we didn't get any)and cancellation fee
Airbnb rips off customers, has rude incompetent customer service staff, rips off & panders on refunds by greedy hosts for cancellations weeks ahead among others. Avoid this corporation. I wish I saw all these reviews. It's not worth the loss of money and peace
Tip for consumers:
That Airbnb sucks at hospitality. They are terrible.

None - they defrauded me of over $500 for a booking I called to cancel 16 days ahead. Avoid Marilena/Fabio Airbnb hosts in Clapham London UK Avoid their 2-room apartment in case your flight gets cancelled or changed. They are greedy & will frustrate your life and rip you off hundreds of dollars… there are alternatives to Airbnb. They wasted my time and ripped me off my $500. It’s not fair.
Did you know that your host can just cancel your rental at any time with and face absolutely no repercussions? It's true. I booked a rental in April 2021 for May 2022. I paid it up front 100% months before it was due. I received a message today saying "Too bad, the owner of the property wants to stay there that week so find somewhere else to stay." Seriously. Less than three weeks before my trip they cancelled my reservation. They didn't offer up another one either. Just cancelled. To add insult to injury, when I called Airbnb, they said it would be 15 days to get my refund. They're holding my money 15 days. Money I paid months ago. I will never ever use Airbnb. Beware that the same thing can happen to you.
Airbnb are middlemen of the worst type. They allow "hosts" to provide consistently sub-par and sometimes downright disgusting accommodation for prices which are in many cases higher than 4-star hotels. I have had accommodations with bugs, with rotten food in the fridge, and with extremely poor levels of cleanliness, yet you are effectively stuck with what you get as they don't generally offer any sort of refund if you show up to a garbage heap marketed as a bnb. But let's be honest, the idea that you can leave individuals who were brought up with vastly different standards of cleanliness to maintain any minimum level of cleanliness is just a dumb proposition - Airbnb have proved that, and the many negative reviews here corroborate the company's failure. That regulation hasn't stepped in is what's perhaps the most surprising to me, given how regulated the competition (hotels) is.
Tip for consumers:
Don't use Airbnb please

Airbnb is Notorious for not looking after its hosts. Their customer service is absolutely disgusting and they constantly passed the back from one incompetent agent to another. Highly unprofessional and that's why I am going to change to cottages dot com next year
Tip for consumers:
Swerve Airbnb and host your holiday home elsewhere.

I use airbnb as a host and traveller and their customer service is appalling.
Hosts lie. Guests lie. Airbnb invariably takes the side of the person with the least capacity for reason and logic because clearly their staff is incapable of both. Furthermore, they are either lacking proper medication or are on too much. It's clearly not my job to decipher which; only to stay away from these nut jobs.
Tip for consumers:
DON'T
Airbnb will cancel you last minute.
I confirmed and paid for an extra-large place near Disneyland 6 weeks in advanced. With less than 48 hours of the trip, the host cancels on me so they could resell it for a higher rate. Been a week and no refund.
Airbnb operator says they can't do anything for me and then LIED that they will have a supervisor call me within 24-28 hours.
Airbnb doesn't even allow me to leave a negative review for the host since the reservation was cancelled.
I wonder how many others they have done this to.
What confidence can anyone have when planning a family vacation if Airbnb and it's hosts can pull things like this.
You have been warned. First and last time I will ever use Airbnb.
I booked an Airbnb for a single night stay in Annapolis. Despite the premium price ($600 for one night), the unit was located on Clay St, and was in a quite unsafe neighborhood.
The unit smelled strongly of cleaning chemicals. Despite this, some of the walls were smudged with stains. All of the beds had inadequate bedding…fitted sheet only, with a thin blanket and decorative pillows. No top sheets, comforters, or standard pillow cases. We informed the host we were leaving, and no assistance was offered. We were refunded cleaning fees, but the remaining $480 or so was not refunded. The host was inappropriately argumentative, and Airbnb claimed they could do nothing more to help me.
I find this disgraceful. At least hotels publish their addresses before you book. Please beware…Airbnb does not hold hosts accountable to their standards.
Place is not as described. Complete lie. Definitely not safe and secure as listed. Located in a slum with razor wire on both sides. Bio hazard mattresses and black mold. Airbnb did nothing to help, lost money since we had to leave early due to the conditions.
I have used Airbnb several times but my most recent experiences have been horrible. When I call them to explain or get help they have put me on hold, transferred me to other reps and then told me they would call me back. There is a host that is renting illegally and posted inaccurate pictures of their apartment. She has multiple bad reviews and changes her name and profile and Airbnb lists her as a "confirmed host". She seems to do this in several cities. The apartment I rented had legal documents from an attorney notifying her she was being evicted and still Airbnb has this listing active.
This place is a nightmare they don't answer you can't get anyone on the phone repeatedly getting messages that my case has been transferred to proper management but still no resolution to my claim and it's been 7 weeks no can help me and my host clearly violated numerous airbnb policies and nothing from airbnb yet.
Tip for consumers:
Don't just don't unless you have a lot of money and can upgrade from jump watch out for the guest houses in big metropolitan areas most are shady

Place is not as described. Complete lie. Definitely not safe and secure as listed. Bio hazard materials, construction during the night and loud music during.
The host shared there is no parking thus requested a refund but he refused and Airbnb wasted my time that night
Airbnb my foot I will never book a place with them, instead go to a lodging or some small time hotel, these people are crazy I could be killed and they were happy with that.
I was awake the whole night guarding myself from attack.
Schedule an reservations with Airbnb with a Super-host! Arrived to Unit and a Eviction notice is stuck to the door, threaten for the police to come kick me out! Guys standing outside the building, Key left under Mat! I called and expressed my safety concerns the rep shows not concern! Told me she will have someone call me back, 2 hours later no call back no refund no nothing! This is so upsetting! I don't know where I am and not safe at all.
Host needed to repair last minute problems, instead decided to cancel. Airbnb did not help find a new place for the desired dates or location.
We were informed less than 24 hours prior to booking about the cancellation and Airbnb support tried to be funny and ask me out for dinner.
I'm lucky because friends of mine managed to find us a place to stay. What if I was someone with no friends in the area and had to head back? If I was flying from somewhere far and didn't get the email, what would I do? How do you book a new flight with a $50 coupon for Airbnb? I don't even know if you can pay for a night on Airbnb with $50, after all the fees...
