I've been a user of altscene for years signed up probably in 2014 where I met my ex Mormon poser alt wife at that time the site was called alternative hookup the site had a different layout to the one itis now, in the alternative hookup days the site worked, it had life but the start of the down fall was the forums with the same set of people being rude and morjority of trolling forum users most of them forum people still are active on there stalking a dead forum being gate keepers, the site as it is now is a shadow of its self...it's more a dead site now and is a place to be picked on

Be extremely careful on this website. There are quite a few deranged people on the website stealing peoples' identities and pretending to be others there. For scam, bait, virus links, phishing scams and also doxxing. Use the website at your own risk. The bad part? Neil the owner of the website gives zero fs to give about his own website adding security for people that do those kinds of harmful acts.

Also, the owner Neil, doesn't care about the safety of the users on the website. On his profile basically says don't message him for problems ''only site suggestions'' and just report any kind of harassment to the moderators, which basically means don't bother him. The thing is there is no verification Email protection on this website. That means countless and countless of fraud and scammers can enter the website and Neil doesn't even care.

Use this website at your own risk. Because Neil the owner doesn't give zero fs to even add any kind of verification to sign up for the website. I've never seen a website where you sign up that doesn't verify your Email. Instead, he has 0 security protections which lets people make fake accounts after accounts pretending to people. Using fake people for harm. This website is VERY dangerous. You can have people make multiple accounts which are all phishing. Also, the forum community page there is also toxic, many people their trash talk other users which again Neil doesn't care.

Go use another website that requires a verification Email to protect yourself from scammers, phishing, bots, doxxers and others. Because there are MANY people like that on alt scene. Your life could be at risk if you join this website, it's highly unsafe. Because you could be talking to a catfish for all you know. Which yes, this website even OKAYS fake Emo and Scene boys/girls that you can grab from Google, this website is a swarm for scammers!

Ladies BEWARE!
I've been on this site recently and I swear all the guy accounts are fakes.
Every guy I've spoken with refuses to live video chat. They want to communicate via discord mostly or Skype. But NEVER snapchat (which is one of the most reliable forms of verifying a person).
They will ask for nudes and tell you these weird conspiracy theories. Many of them like really old school rock n roll music as opposed to metal core, post hard-core, pop rock. Etc. Which is what you would expect from an old creep hiding behind a hot emo/grunge/goth/punk guys pic.

Do not send pics and do not give out your main social media accounts until they can prove through snapchat that they are who they present themselves to be.

No real dates. Try AdultsFun.club if you are really itching to get that hot chick. At least they have real girls and many of these sexy chicks don't mind a real hook up. There are other proper dating sites as well. But AltScene is all about lies and rip off. Please spread the world about this site being a scam. I've only found one person on there who is ligit he's given me proof that he is real by video chatting me and snapchat every one else is fake tho or just on there to get info out of you and mess with your feelings I've met a couple nice people but I still kinda question them

My account is frozen over exactly because someone wrote a comment to bully me. My account has been frozen for over 24 hours which to me is a 0 rating for a website there's no fairness or justice for the users on there. I go by as apple pie!

So after only a week of basically being courteous and polite and answering peoples messages and being friendly - i get a message from admin! My account is on hold - for spam messsaging! Wth? I'm a 51 yr old mum trying to just get out into the dating world again and make friends. I suspect it may be a bloke - who probably didn't get a response that I was exclusively going to date him or such like. I just get the feeling it's a vengeance thing. Especially after reading about this on other sites. I will say when it comes to Alt Scene (A DATING SITE) a lot of people are already in a relationship and is there just for socializing (weird and a waste of other people's time reading your bio to add it in the middle of it). The site does give users a lot of great things that other dating sites don't or hide it behind a paywall. There's of course your usual scammers and catfish on there too. But there is actually real people on there who are cool to talk to they're just rare to find on that site now…the only reason why I have it 2 stars is because of the free content you get unfortunately it's wasted by the people on there

Altscene has more of a social media vibe rather than being a dating site.

PROS
Has a no thrills search facility (gender/country/county/age).

Totally free with no hidden costs.

Site is made for for alternative people.

Has a forum if people want to use it. Though I have seen a lot of bullying and arguments on it.

Has a chatroom (if people want to use it).

CONS
Looks and feels tired, old fashioned and is in desperate need of a major update and revamp. Personally, I think the sites dead in the water and should be laid to rest.

The number of female members is miniscule. The few active accounts belong to the exact same few people who have been on the site for years and the others haven't been logged on to for years.

There's a lot of fake accounts.

The sites housekeeping is woeful and they never delete old profiles that haven't been used for years. If they deleted these profiles it would show there's hardly any active members.

The sites female membership is overwhelmingly young.

There's little individuality - people say they're individuals with their own style and yet all look the same, dress the same, have the same interests, like the same music and try way too hard to be quirky which comes over as overly fake.

If you're a guy then don't expect to get a reply from any message you send.

Too many vain women, narcissists and attention seekers which truly reflects society today!

I keep getting the same messages. The same, boring, one line messages:

These conversations usually go all the same. It's just boring.
