To start, I don't remember signing up for an Audible membership. I recently discovered that I have been charged for the past five months.
I have already canceled my account, but Audible is still charging me.

It's really disappointing. I have lost trust in Audible and will be cautious about any future dealings with them. I would rather avoid any further involvement with Audible.

Be careful when dealing g with audible.

Audible billed me for 3 years on a general household account, attached to Amazon that I didn't sign-up for. They've agreed to credit me back, but 3 months, 4 calls, 5 hrs of BS still has no money credited back to me. I had to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commision

After downloading my free books, I decided to cancel a month after my free trial window. I did so on the app. Or so i thought! Months later, i discover they are still billing my card. Shame on me for not noticing. I went back to the app to see what was going on, but my app had no personal info on me.? I called the number and reached a really proficient customer service rep, but try as she could... she could not find any record of me. Even though they had racked up $130 on my credit card! And, the free trials I downloaded seem to be MIA. Man - please beware! Don't do it!

I can't rate the company past signing up. I go to create my account and it says I already have one. Which was impossible because the email is brand new. However, just to be sure. I created another new email. The same thing occured. It bypasses the free trial and insists I pay for a membership. I tried to contact customer service but that just lef me in a loop back to the help forum.

They basically trick you into a membership by offering a discount if you pay for a subscription. I racked up a lot of unused audiobook credits, but if I cancel the subscription I lose them all. So now I have to download 4 random audiobooks before cancelling, or lose the $60 I spent with them.

I'm glad Dollar Shave Club can't make me send back my extra cartridges if I want to cancel the subscription. What nonsense.

Beware: when you quit your monthly member if you don't use your credit that you paid for the take it away. You lose it. Amazon is basically stealing your money. Also I bought a book. When I finally went to listen to it a few months later they locked it. I have to to buy it. They are a company of thieves. It is call stealing, yet they get away with it.

The only reason I didn't take a star off for the mistake was because its so hard to tell how this kind of crap happens. There's a checkbox that's not unchecked, or a customer service or sales person adds in some free trial and nobody's paying attention, next thing you know you have a years worth of fees for a service you're not even using. This happens all the time, and is why I pick through my bank and card statements with a fine toothed comb. Even then, this charge slipped through for months on end.
Audible refunded all of the months of fees in the end.
This is why I keep sticking with Amazon (their parent company). They have the best customer service. I even cut cable and only ever bother with Netflix and Amazon videos.

Service is fine but they will make you fight every day for over a year to stop charging you even after they continue to promise to stop. (I even had documented verification.)
I'm now ordering a new bank card because Audible is so difficult to work with.

Just want to communicate that I will never subscribe to Audible again...
I had a subscription last year which I cancelled and realised after quite a few months that they where still charging my credit card, just to find out I had been upgraded without any consent of my own to a Gold' membership... cancelled gold membership, and wrote more than once letter of complaint. No response ever.
Now during corona' my son took a subscription, at Audible.it, which I allowed with my credit card, after two months he cancelled it (May) just to realise again they keept on charging me.
While his audible.it membership seemed indeed cancelled, he had magically a new subscription to gold' membership on audible.com, not made on his behalf.
Find this an incredibly bad, tricky and thief like service, am assuming they will again do nothing about it, besides sending me an automated mail back, I will indeed not suggest this service to anyone!

I put my account on hold which is supposed to mean exactly that. Not to audible who after trying to charge the card I gave them and could not went into my Amazon account and charged my sisters debit card which happened to be saved on my account. They refunded immediately. However Audible has taught us all a lesson on why not to leave any credit or debit card information saved on any site, especially Amazon.

I had started using Audible for my college English class in which I didnt have enough time to read so I would rather have it read to me. I decided to give the website a try and was excited to finally be able to have the books read that I needed. Now three months later, I am reviewing my bank statements and realized that audible had been charging for a membership twice after the first 30 days. Now of course that would be fine but never once did I see an option to stop or not have automatic payments before i created the account. I remember this because stuff like this has happened to my parents before and i didn't want it to happen to myself. Of course, with my luck, I managed to now be down $30 i could have needed for basic life supplies.
Thanks audible, you $#*!ing piece of trash.

We're sorry for any confusions! When enrolling, the website states that the membership continues at $14.95 per month and you can cancel at any time. Cancelling can be done through your Account Details page on the website, or by contacting Customer Support.

Please send us an email at social-support@audible.com and we will be happy to help sort this out for you.

I purchased a three month gift subscription for my mother on her birthday. I specifically said which date to send her the email and got a confirmation email. On her birthday my mother received nothing. I had purchased the gift subscription a few days before. I called and Audible told me that they forgot to send the email. Forgot to send it? What kind of company doesn't send GIFTS on the client's special day? In the future I won't purchase anything from this service.

I had a membership for almost a year. When I got busy with other things for several months and had credits I needed to use I purchased the game of throne series to gift to a friend. Only to find out that they did away with this option and I am now stuck with 5 books that I am not interested in. For me the subscription was not worth it even before I realized you could not gift anymore. They also only allow you to accumulate so many credits and then you just start to lose credits (still charged the monthly fee). There are better options for audio books out there. I would avoid Audible.

I've had Audible for about 16 months and occasionally listen on my Kindle. I haven't bought audio books in some time but I (mistakenly) assumed that my monthly credits would accumulate. Today I happened to log in to my account and learned the max carryover is 6 credits! This is the 1st I've heard of that. So, basically I've been throwing $14.95 out the window for over a year. I take some responsibility for this because I received a free trial with my Kindle purchase and never bothered to cancel, but I assume the 6 credit max was buried in fine print and that's pretty shady. I hope a class action suit is in the works.

I was charged on my credit card by Audible overnight.
The charge was fraudulent.
I had no trial subscription or any subscription with Audible at Amazon.
The agent at Audible also could see no trial subscription or any subscription.
The charge is bogus.
There is no way this can happen by accident. It is no "glitch."
Computers don't make bogus charges unless some person instructs them to do it.
There is something dishonest going on at Audible.
There are many hits from a search on "bogus Audible charge." So, I am not the only one being worked over by Audible.
Audible says it is an Amazon company. If it is, Amazon has some problems there that are hurting their reputation.

Audible is fraudulent and totally lacking in transparency. I lost well over $100. Audible has been charging me every month for something I don't want, don't use, and don't recall signing up for. Amazon, please be more transparent.

I'm pretty frustrated. I'm going over my finances and noticed a $14.99 "Gold Membership" charge from Audible.com after my mom shared an audiobook with me. Obviously, since I accepted the "free" audiobook, I want a recurring Gold Membership subscription!

Unable to get the app to download to my phone and could not get to my library from my computer. Spent WAY too long on a chat with customer service, where I had to repeat the problem over and over, and if you don't check their questions or type fast enough, they cut you off and you have to start over. I went to audiobooks.com, had absolutely no problems, and their monthly charge is lower than audible's (not by much, but a dollar is a dollar).

I never signed up for an Audible account. Noticed a $15.97 charge for December of 2018, so I contacted amazon who put me in touch with Audible via telephone. I was told by Audible that I was only charged for Dec. 2018 and was issued credit. Tonight I looked at my bank account and noticed a charge for 15.97 for Nov. 2018 as well. Got back on the phone with Audible and asked how many months I had been charged for and was told I was being charged since Aug. 2017. How is this even legal? And why is Amazon involved in this? I'm so angry I feel like closing my Amazon account- which I have had and use on a very regular basis for over 10 years now. If it weren't for all my prime music, my echo dot, and the streaming we do on our 4 fire sticks I would be done with Amazon.

Cool site for downloading books of all kinds to listen, most resorces free of charge and different versions. I have made myself a rich man with knowledge of all kinds without having to use my eyes too much on pad or phone on the way to work and home.

I installed audible on my phone and selected the free trial option which is suppossed to let you try the service before committing to it. The site asks for a credit card before giving you a free credit which I provided. Little did I know that my career has been charged $16 without so much as an intimation. I was left wondering how this site can charge my career without my consent and knowledge and not be called a malicious site.

After cancelling membership they continued to take funds from my account for four months. After numerous phone calls with nobody that could help I had to cancel my card to stop this happening even though I had an email from them four months prior confirming cancellation.

Unlike many below, I have enjoyed the Audible experience. The site is not really hard to deal with, but anytime I had an issue I found telephone or promptly replied to emails addressed things well. I just today took advantage of the option of suspending my account for 3 months so I can catch up. I still have access to my credits. If I wanted to close my accounts I would lose the credits, BUT I had the option of spending all of the credits on books and they would be mine for future reading.

I have been with audible for many years now and never had a problem until recently. I knew that I didn't have enough money on my debt card for the payment to go through. I was going to call and make a payment with a different card. When I called in I was told that they automatically charged a different card on my account with out getting my authorization. I would think that this was an illegal act? They immediately gave me a refund but that is not the point. The point is that a company should never charge a card without getting customer approval. What is worse if you make a change on audible it also makes the same change on Amazon. I really do not like this at all. I am about to give up my account. Because Audible is a subsidiary to Amazon there is no way to separate the accounts. What is done on one affects the other. I have been with Amazon since 2009 and I am seriously considering closing out my account. My advise is to use caution if you are going to use both Audible and Amazon.
