I was surprised that after cancelling my audible membership all my credits were removed however, I sent an email to the customer service team and they were able to help me get the credits back and they even offered me again a free trial. The respond email was very fast and the agent was super kind. It was really a great experience because even though it was my fault, the agent was able to find a solution with an exceptional customer service.

Tip for consumers:
Credits expire after canceling the membership.

Tricks you into signing up, and then threatens to cancel your PAID FOR credits, if you cancel your subscription. No refund offered. So, having been signed up for almost a year, apparently, I've been forced to use my credits all at once. It's terribly overpriced and I feel like I've been scammed. Please don't tick any boxes on Amazon marked 'Audible' unless you're sure you know what you're doing.

Audible has been getting cheaper and cheaper. I am ready to find an alternative. Now credits can not be used as gifts. Its my money, why can't I spend it how I want: listen to a book myself or gift a book. I am looking for an alternative.

I have been a member of audible for over 10 years. I have a membership and it has taken two hours to try to get my password reset. My email expired and its unbelivable how long the wait is on getting any kind of service.

I made a book purchase in an Amazon store 12 months ago and was unknowingly and unwillingly signed up for a pay per month membership. The store clerk never explained that I had to cancel the membership after the trial period and Audible used my Amazon payment card to charge my account $14.99 per month for 12 months. I only recently detected it and called customer services. They cancelled my membership and offered me a refund for 6 months membership but not the full amount. These methods are borderline fraudulent and should be banned. It reflects badly on Audible and Amazon to use tricks to enroll people and quietly charge your credit card (NOTE: I did not provide Audible with my payment details, they stole it from Amazon without consent). Shame on Audible and shame on Amazon.

Tip for consumers:

I received an email from Amazon audible, and I accidentally clicked and subscribed audible without realizing it ( it charged through my amazon account, so I was not asked my credit card info).

I found out after being charged for two months. So I tried to listen to an audible book. Their software is REALLY HARD to use. I could not listen to audio book from my local PC.

I called to cancel to service. They only refund one month of my membership, because I downloaded one book which never uttered any sound.

NEVER try audible.com. It is a shame for Amazon to let it carry its name.

Audible does not even deserve one star.

I would not recommend audible to my worst enemy. Tried the free trial and had so many issues with both the application and then subsequent customer service issues within the first half hour that I canceled my account, and did not even care about using my free credits. I cannot believe that Amazon is associated with this abortion of a company.

For the past 18 months, erroneous charges every month for $14.95 have appeared on my credit card totaling $269.10. Ever since these charges appeared, I have utilized audible.com chat, customer service, email and have transcripts admitting error and promising a fix. The charges keep coming. I spent four hours today of my vacation compiling credit card statements, identifying charges, scanning, and the follow-up hasn't even started. Additionally, I endured customer service reps with bad phone connections, minimal English skills, and multiple hour-long waits that still didn't result in speaking to a supervisor. I am supposed to be transferred to America if I request, but this didn't happen either.

Big corporations send armies of overseas workers earning $. 10/hour to perpetuate dishonest practices. No way to be during the holidays or any other time Jeff Bezos Don Katz taking advantage of working class people.

Audible offshored its customer support to the Phillipines. Telephone wait times have greatly increased, agents are stiff scripted, stiff, untrained, and hang up. Too bad. How could Amazon permit this?

Only gave it one star because I wasn't able to give zero. Very awful scamming resource. As so many others have pointed out, after signing up for a FREE trial, they immediately charge your account $16 without having asked whether you want to use audible or not. I also never gave any card information to them, so my information was stolen from my amazon account, which I do not appreciate. And the credits that I did pay for, (even though I wasn't even aware that I had been paying for them) cancel after you cancel your account. If I had a dollar for every time they asked me to confirm my cancellation of the membership I never applied for, I'd have enough $ to shut this horrible scamming app down. Very disappointed. Do not purchase. There are many cheaper, and more moral alternatives than $#*!-audible.

I had no idea I was buying a subscription for a audio facility, thought payment was for the language downloads I wanted. The page is full of ads and cannot be read properly, £15 down the drain unless I can get my money back. Its taken me 2 full days to work it out, I've emailed Amazon now I'll try Audible.
The reason I fell for it in the first place is, that Pimsleur's site sells the 5 Arabic lessons in question for the same price. I just couldn't find their site at the time but I have now.

I have to say I was given a refund promptly (as soon as they received my complaint), so my view has changed to an extent. I still believe 'Audible' could be a little more clear about what they are offering because I'm not entirely sure even now.

I was charged a monthly fee without my consent or a billing agreement. I signed up for the free trial, and I never received a notification that I was being charged for several months of a $14.95 fee. I had to pay just over $100 for a membership I never used, nor did I agree to. Buyers beware, it is an Amazon.com company so if you have a credit card on file and sign up for the free trial, make sure you cancel after as you will unwillingly be charged. IT IS A SCAM!

I joined today with the 30 day trial. Couldn't get that free book to load. Tried to purchase another. That wouldn't load. Although both were in my desktop library neither show up when logged in to my Samsung S6 (but my credit cards are listed without issue). When I looked the books up in the app it says I have already purchased them but clicking on them leads to error pages without any understandable explanation. Cancelling took several screens and showed next steps below the fold (feels a bit deceptive). I couldn't even explain the reasons I was leaving because their form limits characters giving you about a sentence to work with.

Tip for consumers:
Avoid this service. It's actually worse then itunes.

I have NEVER bought (or even read) an ebook. I never subscribed to ANYTHING. I never signed up for a free trial. I never clicked any boxes while checking out on Amazon. I've never even heard of Audible.com until they started showing up on my cc & bank statements. By the time I first noticed it they had already been charging me $14.95 for 6 months. I called the phone number on my statement and they canceled my membership(?) and refunded my money without too much hassle. Now (3 months later) I just discovered that they are still charging me but now they charge a different card every month. Discover, Amazon store card & this month was my debit card! WTF? If you have credit cards saved on your Amazon account you will be the next potential victim of this fraudulent scam.
BEWARE!

I was unknowingly being charged for an amazon membership for 5 months after I apparently signed up for a free trial. Only noticed now and was shocked, but their live chat customer service was very good and understanding and refunded me for 4 months of membership charges.

Audible has always had good customer service. I have had 2 call today that the person didn't even pull the account up. I said that maybe 12 book a year is to much with no hesitation the person offered to cancel the account just like that. Wow

Crazy navigation, noncompetative prices, strange customer service procedures. Canceling Audible is as easy as blind bear hunting. Signing up was clickety click easy. I'm still trying to cancel my subscription.

They expect you to pay nearly ten pounds a month AS WELL as overpriced fees for a book on top.
I stupidly assumed my subscription meant I could then listen to books for free. Plus the audiobook prices seem to be at least quadruple what the book prices are, and the narration I've heard so far have been terrible. Will just go back to using whipsersync or another app.

So sorry for the miscommunication. When you're billed the monthly fee, you get 1 book of your choice each month. It's your book and you get to keep it for life. You can learn more about the benefits here: http :// audible-uk. Custhelp. Com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5905/kw/benefits.^WW

I had a trial running last year and canceled it as the app would drain the battery of my smartphone so badly, it was ridiculous. How can an audio book app cost so much energy that after listening to an audiobook for 1 hour, 40% of my battery is drained on a new phone?

Then I went ahead and canceled the subscription. Many months later I found out they had continued to deduct a membership fee despite my termination. I have never used their service again. They must have noticed that and still did not inform me. I can only recommend everyone to stay away from such a company.

I was very excited to have an audible account but when I actually got one i realized that the promises for an unlimited experience are falsly advertised and the experience is in fact very limited... The audio books I did listen to had great quality and everything I just wish the conditions on their website were more clear and not just a bait and switch..

A total rip off. £8 a month for ONE audiobook and a bunch of lousy podcasts. I can get loads of decent podcasts on BBC SOUNDS for free, and plenty of audiobooks on YT for free. The only reason people subscribe is because they don't want to be 'left out', peer pressure etc. It is utter utter garbage. Oh yeah. Try actually READING a book. Support your local library. They are also free. That's anathema to Bezos and Co though isn't it? Gotta get more billions. He and that freak Musk should be shot!

This is waiting for a class action lawsuit. There was an offer for a free audiobook which i accessed, and downloaded Audible. I was actually charged for the book and then underhandedly debited monthly for membership - despite not using any books! They must have just used my Amazon payment details. Only realized this when i saw amounts debited off my bank account months later.

Then when going to cancel (after demanding a refund to avoid legal action) i see that they say you will lose the credits! Absolutely shocking to see daylight exploitation and robbery from Amazon.

I've been with Audible for about two years and listen to their books at work. The service isn't cheap but the books are usually very high quality. The credit you get with the subscription can get you multiple books if you spend it carefully. I have no complaints about the service.

They'll charge you multiple times and refuse to refund it, no rhyme or reason, just a scam. Since reseaching this online i've noted that this is widespread and common, even afer cancelling trials, payments can be deducted for months, 2 to 3 times a month.
