After singing up for the service, my audiobook didn't play. I contacted them through their chat room to tel them is and was told it was canceled. A month later they charged me again. I called them to complain and was assured the account was canceled. A month later they charged me again. After dealing with their very unhelpful phone line, I contacted my bank who blocked their account for me. Awful!

I received an email saying I'd been charged £20 for an audio book. I don't have an account with Audible and there's no way on earth I'd pay that for an audiobook (which I don't read). Their webchat people kept on insisting I give them my account number and billing address. Obviously I don't have an account with them - and refuse to give them any more information. They terminated my webchat when I queried this.
I've also emailed Amazon and removed my credit card details from my account as I don't trust them.

I liked the service while I was using it but I became so busy I decided to put my account on hold so I wouldn't be charged anymore until I had the time to use the service again. Luckily I get notifications to my phone each time my credit card is charged and I was still receiving charges despite being told that I wouldn't while my account was on hold. I cancelled it completely a few months ago so they would stop charging my card. I am still receiving charges to my credit card TO THIS DAY. I just spent 15 minutes on the phone again just now to cancel my membership for the 3rd time. This is legitimately the 6th refund i'm on. Horrible service. I would give it a zero if i could.

I had an account for two years and wasn't using it. So, I called and canceled it. The girl told me I had 30 days to use the rest of my points during that time my account was frozen and then after that time it would cancel. I wasn't in the habit of checking my statement each month as I travel and my husband pay my bills. They continued to charge me for two years. When I realized the charge I called them and they would only give me credit for one of the years. The next month they began charge me again. Stay away they have no credibility. You will never stop the charges.

I cancelled my subscription on my iphone, however, my credit card was still being charged for two months, while I log into audible.com, it shows I'm not a member. When I talk to their customer serivice, they told me I'm signed up with audible.com.au. They shouldn't allow me to log in to their audible.com or should show me I'm a member with audible.com.au

AWFUL service, some books ok
Terrible customer service EVERY TIME I call and need help. Patronising, sarcastic, unfriendly and all in all shockingly bad. I only enjoy 1 book from there and it is the Bible narrated by John Banks - the best narrator EVER!
Tip for consumers:
Order the books if you like but be prepared for the worst when you call for "help" :/

They told me they cancelled my subscription in October 2020. In November and December I was charged again. We started charge backs on the credit card and got that money back but JUST today we were charged AGAIN
Tip for consumers:
Just don't use them if you are financially struggling because chances are you wont be able to get out when/if you need to.

Their model is designed to make it as difficult and tricky as possible to end your membership. This is not a fair or customer friendly service. For example, while you would think you could cancel the service on a go forward basis and maintain what you have already paid for, if you have paid for 7 credits at 15 plus hst per pop, you lose access to all of those credits the moment you cancel. So you tell yourself, I guess I will use all of those credits then cancelled, but unless you want to rush through and waste all those credits instead of waiting for books you actually want to hear, you to accrue further credits and monthly payments. Any service that has to trick its customers into staying is not a service I want to support.
I could go on with the unprincipled tactics of this company, for instance how ridiculously hard they make it for you to find the option that allows you to pause or cancel your membership- meant to deter you from proceeding. I honestly have not faced such a dishonest service before. It's distasteful. Just make a good product and service your customers well.

Audible has been charging my credit card since June 2016. It was such a small charge and I never noticed it until I looked at my cc statement in September. First off, I never signed up for this so when I called to find out what this was all about, they couldn't give me any info because my email address didn't correspond with the account they had.
So red flag - this company is charging my credit card on a monthly basis yet my only email account isn't linked with the credit card they are charging. What a pain in the $#*!. Obviously someone is using my cc to charge and since I couldn't give them the email adddress they had on file, they couldn't cancel the subscription. The lady I spoke to sounds like this happens all the time.
I had to call my cc company and dispute the charges and they had to cancel my card and issue a new one. Then I had to change all my reoccurring payments. So much trouble!

So first off you own nothing when you purchase from Audible. Amazon keep everything for itself. Books cannot be downloaded and used with another app. Hence, Amazon still owns everything.

Not only was their selection awful but when I called to cancel, I received an email saying I'd need to cancel my credit card because "for privacy reasons" they couldn't remove my card from their billing services and report an unauthorized sale... WHAT? So, 7-10 days to get my refund AND I have to wait for a new card. This is called PREDATORY PRACTICE!
Audible is a criminal company. Period.

I did not sign up for this and found today they have been taking money out of my bank account for 6 months. Maybe there should be a class action suit taken against them.

Audible improves a lot from my previous reviews. I bought myself about 10 books and they put around some promotions as well, the trial give you 2 free books, but still a bit pricey.

Here is another way that consumers get screwed without effective government oversight. I scrutinize my CC account periodically, but somehow missed the $14.95/mo I was getting charged by Audible. I had apparently "signed up" for a 90-day trial in 5/16, and since I did not cancel, started getting billed in Aug. I missed these charges (probably because of the association with Amazon), but when I finally talked to a rep today - after being disconnected twice - to find out what it was all about, I finally got a refund. I will be watching for it. Too bad they have to go to these lengths of deception to make their business model work. At times, I have enjoyed very much listening to books, books that I may never have found the time or inclination to have read such as "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" or "War and Peace." But why not just buy the recording? Why the gimmicks? And especially why do they have to lure the unsuspecting public into signing up for these monthly charges? That Amazon partnered in this manner does not speak well of that company, either. I will be taking my business elsewhere, thank you very much.

DO NOT TAKE UP THE FREE TRIAL. I DID, AND CANCELLED WITHIN 2 DAYS. I RECEIVED A CONFIRMATION OF CANCELLATION.
DESPITE THIS, A MONTH LATER, AUDIBLE STILL TAKES MONEY OFF MY CREDIT CARD. LIKE A BUNCH OF THIEVES,... YOU HAVE TO WATCH THEM!

So it took 3 different representatives PLUS an unfit supervisor to finally help me with what I needed which was a simple transaction to be done.
They asked for personal things which I POLITELY declined several times cause they don't need it AND they're treating their customers with SUCH disrespect and disgust!
This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable behavior that should not be coming from PAID EMPLOYEES! I seriously hope that the CEO of audible sees these complaints cause their employees and supervisors obviously don't care about their customers and that is just the saddest thing I've ever seen!
Tip for consumers:
We the customers need to speak up about this and GET the CEOS of this company off their asses and go confront their employers of what they’re doing wrong to their customers

Good at a lot of things and reasonably price. BUT, completely unacceptable when it comes to accommodating clients! I've been a "member" of Audible.com for approximately a dozen years and have well over a 100 books and have paid in advance for nearly 60 books (that because of the Auto Review system they put in once Amazon took over and Auto Reviewed the 2 accounts I had, without my knowledge - but that's another topic). Basically I WAS a happy Audible.Com member. So, I have two accounts and they REFUSE to merge them. Thus I have half my library in 1 account and 1 in another making my life difficult to actually listen to the library that I've built and paid for (in advance BTW). COMPLETELY unacceptable and a crapy way to treat a good, well paying client.

The provided a great service for years but I am concerned whoever has taken over the customer service division actually hates books and the people who read them. Let's donate this company to Russia.

I ordered ONE thing off Amazon ONCE and have had monthly charges taken from my credit card from Audible Limited, which are impossible to stop. I DON'T EVEN OWN A KINDLE! They have basically just been stealing my money.
Date of experience: March 15, 2017
I have been an audible member since their first year in business. And they have changed login requirements so many times that I have only used my credits approximately half of that time. Now that they have merged with Amazon, it is IMPOSSIBLE (yes, I do in fact mean impossible) to log into my account. No matter how many stupid customer service people I speak with, I still cannot log in. I have something like a hundred books on audible and I PAY FOR TWO NEW CREDITS EVERY SINGLE MONTH, yet I cannot log in to use any of them! Screw you Audible, I'm done!
