I have been an Audible member for about 3 years. I drive for a living, so I listen to audiobooks constantly. Over the last 3 years, amazingly, Audibles web site and downloading ease have gotten WORSE not better. They seem to be terrified of pirating, and make regular customers jump through about fifteen hoops before you can download a book. The Audible Download helper, which is where you are supposed to download a book, and it puts it into either Itunes or on an Android device, is hopeless. Instead of just picking a format, and downloading it straight onto your device or computer, Audible tries to download it straight onto Itunes or their own app on your phone. All so you dont share with anyone else. Its ridiculous and feels like something from 20 years ago. Audible isnt going to change anytime soon, so if you have any other sources for getting the books you want at a good price, I would take it. Unfortunately the Itune store is way too expensive in comparison, so I am stuck with this clunky crap for the foreseeable future.

If I could give Audible Customer Service zero stars, I would. The Customer Service and lack of duty of care is completely egregious, and echoes the sentiments of many other reviews here that also give 1 star reviews.
I received a Gift Membership as a Christmas gift, but apparently was erroneously charged for it. Wrote them about it and received a response from one Customer Service Rep acknowledging the error and promising to refund for the error, but then all of a sudden I receive four subsequent emails the same day stating my membership was put on hold, my membership was cancelled, all the credits I received for the Gift membership are GONE, then they're reinstated, then my membership changes, then my membership is cancelled again. Can you spell CONFUSING? Clearly, they do not have a ticket system or note system in place to record actions have been done to a single account, and need five different representatives to trouble shoot one problem that subsequently causes other problems with customers.
This experience with Audible has been extremely confusing, frustrating, and a total inconvenience to unnecessarily endure. As an Amazon company, this experience with Audible absolutely does NOT live up to the primarily positive customer experience many are accustomed to with Amazon. Amazon's generally positive brand is at stake with the inept and inefficient customer service at Audible, "An Amazon Company."

I have an audible active account. I had uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Now I am unable to login from Android. I had called the team they kept on tossing my call from AMAZON TO AUDIBLE FOR 1M5HRS WITHOUT ANY SOLUTION. MY ACCOUNT SUBSCRIPTION IS ON. MONEY IS GOING AND I CANNOT LOGIN. THEY ARE TAKING MONEY FROM ME AND NOT GIVING ANY SOLUTION.
PLEASE DON'T TRUST THEM FOR UR CREDITS IF AT ALL THERE IS ANY ISSUE. MOST HORRIBLE SERVICE

Amazon Audible Service is a credit card fraud operation owned and operated by Amazon.com, Inc. When you give your credit card details over to Amazon Audible Service in order to subscribe to their free one month subscription they continue to charge your credit card monthly even when you opt out. When you call them to complain they will claim the monthly charges will stop, but they are lying, they will continue to keep charging your credit card for as long as they can.
Proof that there are countless victims of Amazon.com, Inc. credit card fraud operation:

Absolutely shocking experience. Not happy at all. Thought I'd try out audible as I had to read a book for my studies and am no fan of reading long winded books. I hoped that listening to it would be slightly more enjoyable. How wrong could I be, the service was appalling, the book 'Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha' didn't even display whether it was abridged or unabridged so I purchased it believing that it must be the full book otherwise it would say so, well no. It wasn't. £15 for one third of a book? What. I bought a paper copy from amazon for £6? Who are they kidding. I then tried to cancel my membership but as I was doing so, I realised that the first 3 months were only £3.99, so I thought, okay, persuade me and attempted to take advantage of this offer, only to then get a pop up saying this is only for new customers, bearing in mind I had only signed up the evening before and now they wanted to charge me £7.99 on top of the £15 to get the book I originally wanted. I am still waiting for a reply from customer services but I am extremely unhappy and unless they provide a appealing solution I will be cancelling all amazon related memberships and accounts that I hold.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND AUDIBLE AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME, AT ALL.

I tried to return a book that I purchased last week, and was told when I went to the return purchase screen. That I was returning too many books and abusing their return policy, that I wouldn't be allowed to return any more books. And, I received my credit on the 5th of this month, I bought a book that I had in my wish list. The narrator was Dreadful, the plot was flat and taking forever to get anywhere. I tried to return a book that I had bought with my credit, and was denied a return again. This is complete BS. I I changed my subscription to the lowest monthly cost, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER BOOK FROM AUDIBLE. I have paid 100s of dollars for their service and am being treated like a child for wanting to get my money's worth. I have read several of the negative reviews on the return policy and will be looking for another service like audible to give my money to.

I had signed up for the 30 day free trial and within that 30 days decided to cancel my account as I hadn't used the service at all. However without my knowledge I had been signed up to both the British and American sites and the month after the free trial was up I was billed by both sites. Trying to rectify this I contacted the customer support by email and asked why I had been billed when my account had been canceled and was informed of the error of being signed up to both sites but was told that no refund could be issued or my account canceled for the American site as they are on different databases however my UK account was canceled then and there. I have since then had to contact the American site but as of yet have still not received a refund from the British site for the money removed from my bank account without having had a subscription to this service, ever ( I had signed up to the American site in the first place). I would recommend that anyone with a subscription carefully monitor the money audible remove from their bank account each month or better yet don't subscribe. I expected better from an amazon company.

I have had a horrible experience with Audible. It's unfortunate. Although, I have purchased now several audio books, I still cannot play any of them on my computer. They operate on my phone only. I have called mutliple times to get the technical difficulties resolved and I have to uninstall and reinstall the programs and settings over and over. It is a terrible application. I would recommend downloading to iTunes instead. I have downloaded all the books to my computer, but none of them will play, and I will have to download them all again to play them in another application. I have tried to get help from the customer service and they don't listen to what I am saying at all. I have seriously been on the phone with them for almost 2 hours on one occasion, explaining myself over and over to new people. I called again yesterday to ask for their help and after being on the phone for 40 minutes, the service rep said she would check on something that might help and get back to me in a half hour. I stayed late from work to get her call back. I never heard from her again. Guess what? I have to start all over again with someone new. Honestly, save yourself the money and the frustration and get the audio books that are free at the library.

I have had an author account with Audible.com for two years. In 2016 Sean Diddy Combs and Bobby Lorenzo, who is a model for Sean John, agreed in writing to let me use their names in hip hop scripts This is before I found out most of Hollywood is evil, and is now deprived of adrenochrome. July 4th, 2020 Sean Combs and his attorney contacted Barnes & Noble, Audible, Amazon KDP and Kobo Writing Life to tell them to cancel my author account including the books that had nothing to do with Diddy. This is harassment. ON Twitter 2017 someone whom I thought was impersonating Diddy, contacted me via DM telling me twenty times to open bank accounts for the purpose of embezzlement. They sent nude photos of themself having sex with underage boys. Now, I realize it really was Sean Diddy Combs. This COVID19 is really about these sick evil things being arrested. Hollywood and other weird psychotic places have been exposed. Anyone who tests positive for COVID19 will be tested for adrenochrome in their system and will be arrested. I had no idea how sick Hollywood was. I never would have agreed to write for Sean Combs had I known the truth. I love the Lord. I belong to God. I pray for those children who had to suffer being chained to walls and tortured to death while their adrenochrome was sucked from IV tubes. Lord, I have had to stay on my knees day and night praying to God since so many wicked deeds have been exposed.

Being an audio book fan, I decided to give Audible Premium Plus a try. This is their Top-Tier subscription for $14.99 per month. For this, you receive 1 credit a month and access to their Pemium Plus catalog of 73k Free, No Credit Needed, No Purchase Needed, o credit, titles. Sounds good, right? Think again. I don't think that I need to do much more than give this example:
Being a John Grisholm fan, I search his name in Audible. Keep in mind, John Grisham is the "author of forty-seven consecutive #1 bestsellers, which have been translated into nearly fifty languages." All of his books on Audible cost 1 Credit. And, the titles available for your Premium Plus, $14.99 per month, Free, No Credit, No Purchase Necessary Subscription? Two! Yes, you read that right -- two, t-w-o. It gets even better, those two are extremely obscure, out-dated novels. I find it utterly unbelievable that Audible charges 14.99 per month for Premium Plus and offers two out of Grisholm's 47, international, best sellers. Search their Premium Plus Free catalog for any of your favorite authors and see how many of their titles are offered free. For this audiobook fan, it's a major disappointment and a "No Go." There are other options including, among others, other audio booksites, free audiobook checkout from my well-stocked public library ir purchasing at my local, massive used bookstore.###

Here's some strategies they use to scam you:
1/ Sign you up on free 30-day trial, start charging you after 30-days without any email reminders or billing notifications
2/ Make a switch to use Amazon accounts so people have two Audible accounts
- Make logging into non-Amazon accounts as non-obvious as possible
- Once user finds how to login using non-Amazon account make the "Cancel My Subscription" link redirect back to the Amazon login page.
- Make the "Login with a non-Amazon account" login on the "Cancel My Subscription" page redirect back to the Amazon login page
- Make the option to link a non Audible account online to an Amazon account always fail ( "We are unable to complete the process at this time. Please contact Customer Service.") forcing the user to interact with Customer service (see below)
- BONUS Scam! Pick up CC details from Amazon accounts with matching email addresses and start charging inactive accounts again
3/ BONUS Scam for Australians: Add audible.com.au
- Make the. Com site inaccessible from Australia
- Ensure that Australian customer service agents have no visibility to accounts created on the. Com site
4/ Make US Customer service as painful as possible
- Add long wait time
- Use agents with poor English skills
- Put people who have payment issues on hold for 3 minutes and silently disconnect them after 30 minutes
I am usually a believer in Hanlon's razor, but malice or stupidity something is really screwy at Audible.

I purchased an Amazon fire tablet in Oct 2016. I was curious and excited about the new tablet so of course I went to each pre installed app to see what they were. Apparently, when I opened the Audible app I signed up for a free trial? I wasn't ever planning on using the app and didn't think twice about it as I never opened the app again after that first day.
Fast forward to April 2017, and I notice I have lost $77ish from my account, in charges of $14.99 or $15.99 for the past 5 months. I was super frustrated and thought I had been scammed. Did some research to see many other people have had the same issue. Read many reviews online about how terrible the customer service was and how hard it was to get any help, let alone a refund. Needless to say, I was more frustrated and ready to go to battle on the phone for my refund and to leave a piece of my mind for what had happened.
Couldn't have been more wrong. Wonderful customer service rep happily and quickly helped me to cancel the service, refund me in full, and send me confirmation emails for my own records. I was beyond impressed with her service and extremely grateful to have my money back in my pocket.
I learned to not judge a company's customer service off the reviews I've read, but off of my own experience with them. Yes, I'm sure there are some rude and difficult agents, but that doesn't mean that there aren't wonderful ones too who are understanding and willing to assist however they can. Just my experience and opinion, take it or leave it.
