I have tried canceling my audiobooks account several times. The first time, in June, I thought I had completed the process online. Then the next month my college-age daughter and myself noticed we were both getting billed so I called audiobooks to correct the situation and to cancel my account. I thought it was taken care of and now I notice I have been charged for August and September. I don't think my daughter is getting charged anymore; however, I still am. I want this to stop and I want to be reimbursed for the payments audiobooks has taken out of my account since I have been trying to cancel my subscription with them.
I love listening to audio recordings, mainly because i perceive such information better. That's why I prefer audio books over paper ones. I can't perceive paper books and when I start to read something I forget about this information within cpuple of minutes. One can state that it's not okay, while I'm sure that it's just my feature. I applied to this service in order to find some audio books to listen to. I found here plenty of books of various genres and already have listened to couple of ones. I would certainly recommend this service to all people, who can't read paper books.
I don't like posting negative reviews. But maybe it will save someone else from experiencing the same thing we have. We have enjoyed Christianaudio for years. But for some reason when we updated our payment method (our cc was expiring, so we entered the new number), they did not use the updated info, and stopped charging us. We did not notice for several months, and they never contacted us. When we did notice, I reentered payment info at least 3 times, waiting several weeks between times, and nothing. All our credits expired, so we lost the 18 or 19 credits we had. Totally their issue - we had supplied the payment info. When we called, they had no idea why it wasn't working and just told us we owe over a hundred dollars for the months that they had not charged us, when we couldn't get books anyway. No one has any idea how to fix the problem. No way to communicate except through email. Now what? So disappointing!
It's a very dubious business model, free trial then make it extremely difficult to cancel paid subscription, multiple emails, their website doesn't allow cancellations on line, had to cancel my Visa card to get rid of them!
I signed up with my email, got the free trial but didn't like their selection so I cancelled immediately. On my account I can see that I've cancelled the account and that I have 0 hours of listening, 0 downloaded books. Months later I find out I'm being charged monthly. FOR SOMETHING I CANCELLED, AND NEVER USE. I go on their website, something you have to do if you want to cancel this app. It says I've already cancelled my account. So what am I supposed to do? I call their customer service. The number automatically hangs up. Three times. They are unreachable. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP. Do NOT sign up for their free trial! It's impossible to cancel.
Audiobooks.com uses misleading and deceptive conduct, which in Australia, at least, is illegal. It offers you a free 30 days trial, then immediately charges your credit card. Despite saying you will not be charged for 30 days. This is all in writing, so I'll be telling my credit card company to reverse the charge.
I have been charged for the free trial and upon writing to the customer service this is what they said "As you are currently within the 30 day free trial period, no charges have been processed. What you are seeing is a pre-authorization which is immediately voided upon sign up and it will drop off within the next few business days. This is just to ensure the billing details you have provided are valid upon sign up. "
But my charges we not reversed. To make things worse, when I downloaded the (supposedly) free book they charged me for that too!
I got charged for the same item twice in one month!
They say they offer a free trial with one free book credit. I used it for a 10 hour road trip and cancelled the auto-renew immediately from my phone. Sure enough they billed me after 30 days and they refuse to acknowledge the mobile cancellation. Lots of other stories like this from other users. Don't trust this app!
Hi James. Please check your DMs for more information regarding this issue.
I tried the app, didn't like their inferior product, and cancelled my account.
Audiobooks kept charging me for 2 years.
When I found out, they did not agree to refund me, and kept my stolen money.
