Book Outlet

This was absolutely the worst packaging I have ever experienced in all my years of buying books online. Three large, heavy (and fairly expensive) books were packaged in a flimsy, oversized box without so much as one piece of paper to pad them. The end result: as would be expected, the books were mangled during transit. Dinged corners, bent covers, torn pages, warped spines, you name it. Abject waste of money. I will NEVER use this service again!

As a teacher, I was able to purchase novels for my classroom that were far cheaper than Scholastic or Barnes and Noble. Book Outlet allows me to provide new titles, and an exciting classroom library, at a reasonable price.

We've had great experiences with Book Outlet in the past. This was not one of them. One book came with a price sticker (that looks exactly like a Costco price sticker) … and we paid several dollars more than what was on that sticker. The book itself was a bit banged up too. Also, many of our other books had a permanent colored dot on them from a marker. I'm imagining it's a system used to sort the books but the books don't feel as new when they come marked.

All of my favourite booktubers on YouTube rave about this site, so I was super-excited to give it a go. I signed up, added exactly four (4) books to my cart and proceeded to the checkout, only to discover that shipping would cost NZ$60... Excuse me?!?!? If I'd gone ahead with the purchase, it would have cost MORE than if I'd purchased the books ~brand new~ which is utterly ridiculous.
They do have an impressive range of books, but there's the possibility they're poor quality or damaged.
You'd be better borrowing books from your local library or buying them new elsewhere.

One of my books had globs of glue at the bottom about an inch from the binding which stuck the pages together. I think this is damage unsuitable for the "bargain book" description because the pages ripped apart which impacted the readability of the book. It was the first time I've been unhappy with a purchase.

Logging into Book Outlet with a clear and detailed list of what I wanted to purchase made using the search feature a breeze. And even though Book Outlet didn't have ALL the books I wanted, the ones they did were sold at an incredible price (especially for being hardcovers!). I was warned shipping took a long time, but I'm not sure if I was lucky or if others are severely impatient because it was about a week's wait for my package to arrive after ordering. A week is nothing. The only thing I wish was different was that the books were mailed with cushion (you know, to avoid getting damaged in transit). All my books came in beautiful condition, but I can't imagine the same luck if I'd bought a paperback. Then again, can I really complain at their price point and free shipping? 5/5 experience, will be buying from again.

Books arrived timely but in a box that wasn't taped down and destroyed. The box practically disintegrated upon removal from mailbox. Products were mostly undamaged, but was not impressed with handling.

Appalling customer service. The orders are going from Canada to California - a long trip - and becausae they use just one or two strips of this low grade quality paper tape, I've often received these packages falling apart and if the US Postal Service doesn't reinforce it with real tape, in one instance, didn't receive it at all. USPS suspects (as do I) that it fell apart during shipping. Customer service - including what they call "Leadership" is just horribly awful. The prices are great, the customer service is abysmal. My experience.

The tracking site link never worked, and shipping took a bit longer that expected. Mostly, I've been pleased with the items purchased from Book Outlet. I do wish that your practice of using a marker on the bottom of the pages to remainder items would be changed from a large dot to a narrow line. The dot bleeds onto the pages and is very ugly and distracting. Many of these remaindered books are purchased for a church library and really spoil the books…. A lighter touch with these remainder marks would be much appreciated.

Book Outlet is the only website that I know of which carries new books for very low prices. Basically, they receive new books in the form of overstock, and sell them for way less than you can find anywhere else. Sometimes the prices are even lower than that of equivalent used books. These are generally high quality books that are packaged well enough not to get dinged up in the shipping process. If there is a problem with the physical condition of the book, you simply send them an email w/ pictures attached, and they promptly take care of your issue. Book Outlet has offered a much better experience than other book selling sites I've encountered (including everything from packaging quality to customer service).

I am an English teacher and I buy most of the books for my classroom library myself. I recently transitioned from middle to high school, so Book Outlet has allowed me to ramp up my collection quickly for my new students in a way that is impressing my husband rather than leaving him considering divorce.

I placed an order at Book outlet prior to doing any research of them or looking at their reviews. Once I looked up some reviews, I was quite disappointed and expecting the worst. I wouldn't have minded a little wear or slight tearing at the price I paid, but some reviews look much worse.

My books arrived after a total of 10 days (about 8 business days) and were absolutely perfect. I was surprised to find no flaw whatsoever in any of the 24 books I ordered. I think I had about 3 or 4 from the "S" - Scratch and dent category, but they all look brand new. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I got an awesome deal on excellent quality children's books. Definitely will order again.

I placed an order for Christmas delivery on 12/14/2020, today is 1/5/2021 and still no order. Three "tickets" have been sent indicating nonreceipt, each time a response is received stating the delay is due to holiday volume. As we are approaching two weeks after Xmas, it's safe to say that reason is no longer valid. Acknowledging I will never see these items, I placed the same order today through Amazon, it will be here on Jan. 8th. If you think you're getting a good deal with Book Outlet, think again, you will never see the order and you'll get no where with customer service.

Prices are awesome! Shipping is ok, not fast but not horribly slow. Books arrived with one damaged. It looked very used, cover completely scratched up and corner bent up and not fully attached to book. I reached out to customer service and am waiting for a resolution. I love book outlet so much, but every order tends to have at least one book damaged. I'd love to see the books packaged better and better quality control. Customer service has always made it right and so I have continued to use book outlet because of that. I would really love to start receiving orders that come with every book in great condition!

Overall it was a solid experience; the books came, maybe a little more slowly than I'd have hoped, but I received them all and in a reasonable time. Unfortunately the box got so damaged in transit that the package arrived inside a clear plastic bag; it was in two shredded pieces, basically. The books were mostly fine (some bent covers, etc.), but it was the most damaged package I've ever received.

I will definitely be buying from Book Outlet again! Easy to navigate and to search for books; checkout; tracking information. The only thing I was not impressed with was the packing of books & how the boxes arrived at my doorstep.

I'm so glad I found Book Outlet! As a first-year teacher, I have been on the hunt for some affordable books. Book Outlet has a large range of books at an amazing price and the quality of the books I received was great! The shipping time was longer than what I am used to with other online purchases I've made, but it was so worth the wait!

Book Outlet is a great place to buy books you have been wanting to buy or find new ones to read. Great prices for books that are in good shape. I have already recommended people to Book Outlet and I will continue to do so. Its not as fast as say Amazon Prime or going to your local bookstore as far as delivery speed, However its still a reasonable delivery speed (about a week no more than two for me personally). But the patience is worth it for the price you get for a new book.

Funny story, I heard about this website from a tiktok and couldn't believe how incredibly cheap the books were so I had to placed a large order asap. I saved a ton of money and the books are good quality…they look brand new! Shipping was incredibly fast, took 9 days to get to me in California from Canada. I cannot emphasize enough on how excellent their customer service and products are :) Book outlet will always be my first stop before heading to a bookstore from now on!
