No books were adverstised as used. One had a scuffed front cover and another had a lot of dark smudges all over, it was a hard cover so I was able to clean most of them off. Great prices on books but I will be reluctant to order as gifts in the future.
Unfortunately, I received someone else's order in a box that had been almost demolished by the shipping company (books were fine). I tried using customer support over the phone only to be hung up on. I then used customer support online and received an auto reply asking for a photo of the damage. The books were not damaged. The order was 100% not my order.
I thought I was going to get the original cover of Cirque Du Freak like it showed online however it was the newer version. Also the book arrived dented and damaged, tapped to the packaging and now the book is dented in a weird way. Not ideal at all

Shipping took a longer than I expected about 2 weeks. I received the wrong order. I ordered 2 books as a gift that needed to be gifted this weekend and I received 4 completely different books and nothing I ordered. My first time ordering with this company. Really disappointing.
The prices were awesome, and the books looked as if they were new - spines not cracked. It would be nice to know that the delivery time is a bit longer than expected. Only major quibble was the way the books were packed. They moved around in the box so one book slid inside another and mangled the pages. Cover of the book that slid inside was partly torn. Luckily the gift book was unharmed.
This is my 2nd or 3rd order since I found the website about 3 years ago. The website is good, easy to use and gives enough information about the products. Ordering was easy. I didn't realize my order was coming in 2 shipments. I would say the shipping materials could have been a little more efficient (i.e. The packaging for both shipments seemed far larger than necessary) but the fact that it was all paper-based/biodegradable and recyclable was still a plus. Shipment time was reasonable especially for the excellent price! The rewards program is also really great. Thank you!
My daughter begged me to buy her a book and when I looked online I saw that Book Outlet carried it. I prefer to buy from smaller companies and hadn't heard of Book Outlet before, so I decided to order from them. I will not make that mistake again. I placed my order on February 27th and bought my daughter's book, plus another one for me since I had to pay for shipping. I got a notice that the order was on its way March 1. My daughter asked me every day when her book was coming. The shipment finally arrived on March 11 and my daughter opened it excitedly to find that only my book was in the large box. I contacted customer service and got a response a day later apologizing and saying they would refund my money but that her book was now out of stock and I could ask to be notified when it was back in stock. Since my daughter had waited so long already, I ended up just ordering from the huge company that I was trying to avoid. I will not try Book Outlet again. I don't understand how an order for two books could be so hard to fulfill. I wish I could get a refund on the other one I ordered, since it didn't even save me money after I paid for shipping. Seriously disappointing. I do not recommend this company.

This site is, by far, the best book site I have been to. Their prices can't be beat online, even when buying used, and they have the best customer service of any company I have dealt with when making online purchases. As a homeschooling family, the value and selection is simply the best.
I buy A LOT of books and bookoutlet.com has been my go to website for this. (I have a serious case of Tsundoku) In any case, for the last year, they have been sending the books by putting them in a box without any space fillers. Because of that reason, you will receive the books with crinkled corners, squished edges etc, because they will be all jumbled during the shipment. They are in readable conditions, but they will arrive looking like they have been used already. I like their pricing and their selections, but the shipping is a big let down. So it's your choice.
I was thrilled to be able to buy multiple copies of this book--and happy with the price. BUT I was shocked with the packing. It came in two boxes. One of the boxes was broken.The books were loose inside the boxes. There was no interior packing material. My order was short one book--it may have fallen out of the broken box in transit. 2 of the books were damaged and dirty-- two others are also dirty. Before my order shipped, I tried to reach customer service re: expedited shipping (I needed them for an event sooner)--but did not get through. I called when I received the order--did not get through. I sent photos of the damage. I am waiting for response.
I had very high hopes when I found a great source for books, and finding the book I bought cheaper here than Amazon was a good sign. Now, I may very well have missed a disclaimer somewhere that the book was used, or damaged, but I expected it to be perfectly new.
When it arrived, the plastic wrapping was open where the book came out of the sleeve (though the wrapping was covering the cardboard sleeve). A lot of cardboard shavings were stuck around the book, and there is a black sharpie marker mark on the outside.
That said, if I knew it was damaged, returned, or something, it would be a 5 star rating. A discounted book, and everything else about the book was in perfect condition.
I should have known to consider the outlet part of the name. LOL.
The processing and Shipping is taking a bit longer than I care for. Your biggest competitors are beating you here, badly. Need to get these products out faster without compromising secure packaging. Which brings up the next point. These boxes that you use for packaging are terrible. The way they are designed is to be broken down easily. Therefore, these boxes are easily damaged in shipping. Also, these books are not being protected with any sort of packing paper or bubble wrap. I've had nearly a dozens of trade paperbacks get damaged because of this, even a few hardcovers has been damaged. Please improve on protecting the books for shipping, invest in packing paper and/or bubble wrap... Nothing is worse then paying for damaged books, unless that is what yall sell anyways (Damaged Books). Sorry for the harsh feedback; but as a customer who has already spent hundreds of dollars with Book Outlet, I can't justify buying more until this has been drastically improved.
I'm not sure if there is a new CEO or something, but book outlet made some changes to their website and packing standards that are NOT positive. My books used to arrive with some paper padding to keep books from getting smashed around, but they stopped doing that and now any loose hardcover books tend to beat up the paperbacks and smash covers in transit. They also made it so you can't see how many books are available above 25, which is just annoying if you're living on a budget and want to buy books you might miss out on first. It used to be one of my favorite features of book outlet that you could see how many books were left in stock, but not anymore. Additionally, they've made wishlists almost useless. I loved being able to separate my wishlist and easily see all of the books, but now they're all smashed together and impossible to navigate.
Both of my recent orders included hardcovers with dust jackets that were ripped or damaged in some way and corners that were dented. I would consider these "scratch and dent" books and shouldn't be sold as regular bargain books. I'm a bit disappointed with the quality and since it's happened multiple times now I don't believe it's a one-off event. I may hesitate in the future to order hardcovers and just go for used books from another site where the conditions of the books is more readily available.
Ordered 10 books. Shipping confirmation indicated all 10 books were sent. Shipping was slow. Only 6 books were in the package when it arrived. Customer service offered a refund or to resend them. Opted for the latter, but 20 days will go by before the order is processed and sent. Nothing offered for the inconvenience.

I know you probably can't do it but a bigger selection of books would be nice. I was looking for specific titles and couldn't find them. Oh well. And if you could lower the prices a little bit that would be nice too. I've wanted to order more a number times, but couldn't afford it.

The book arrived quickly which I was quite happy with. However it contains so many notes and markings that it is going to be very difficult to read and useless for the academic study it was intended for. I knew I was buying a used book but nothing in the listing suggested that EVERY page would be full of written-in notes.
I ordered one book from here for the first time and it got here in 8 days. The book was about $17 before shipping ($20 ish after), and the normal price of the book is $45! The book came in FANTASTIC condition, it looks totally new aside from a sharpie slash on the bottom edge of the pages, probably by the seller for inventory or something. I'm guessing this site is a hit or miss to buy from, fortunately, my first buy was a hit!
I would have given a better review if the books weren't damaged. There was no paper to fill void in shipping box resulting in damaged books.
Packaging orders properly will greatly reduce damages during the shipping process.
First time ordering from Book Outlet and was beyond excited to recieve my books. I got 21 books for around $95 which is such a steal, especially since some were hardcover! The only thing I was surprised about was that it took 3 weeks to deliver. The books came in mostly good condition. Some had sharpie marks on the top or bottom of the book and others had stickers on the front. But overall, my experience with this shop was great and I will definitely be ordering again in the future.
