Well, my order was shipped in two boxes. One I received and love the product! Butttt the only one hasn't arrived yet. Apparently, it's ordered but hasn't moved since November 16th. Super disappointed as I was hoping my kiddo could have a holiday books during the holidays. Guess we're heading to the library
I was intrigued by the selections available and the pricing was good too, so I bought some books I had been meaning to buy for some time and added a few that triggered my curiosity. I loved that the selection was diverse and easily categorized. Great experience.
I love using book outlet and getting books for a great price. My only concern is the box they are mailed in. Every time I order, my box comes half open. One time 2/3 of my order was missing, and due to the nature of book outlet and how some books just aren't always available, I couldnt get them replaced. Every other order, the mail carrier has told me to check my order because the box has been opened and she had to tape it shut. Its the bottom of the box every time. If that could get fixed I would be 10x happier
The website is easy to use and has several helpful features. I appreciate the very discounts and reward program. My only compliant is the quality of boxes used in shipping. Most of the time, the boxes arrive at my apartment torn, dented, and open (unable to hold the weight of the books inside).
The customer service agent was very responsive and they offered to either re-send the items or give me a refund. I didn't have to return the items. They also gave me a discount code to use for a future purchase. Overall I am satisfied with how they responded to the matter.
I have been using book outlet for about 2 years and I've never had an issue with any of my orders. Until today. I ordered two comics and ended up with a COOKBOOK and a NUTRITION BOOK. How they thought these were even related is unfathomable. I noticed that the packaging was very different from what I have received in the past so I'm wondering if they used a third party? I created a customer service ticket and await their response. I would have vouched for this company hands down, but this is extremely disappointing and I am now wary of placing further orders with them.
They finally shipped my order 9 days after I placed it. It's been over 11 business days, 15 days total since I placed the order and I still haven't gotten my books. Not really happy with the time it took to actually get the shipment to the shipper. 9 days, seriously? I can't blame the USPS because according to the tracking they haven't even gotten it yet.
Update: Still no order. I made a ticket and they blamed it on the usps and closed the ticket. Customer service is non existent. They DO NOT care at all. I placed an order OVER a month ago and I still don't have it.
I've used Book Outlet for years both personally and professionally. I've always been pleased with the great selection and recently the continual sales have been great. This order was for several gifts and I know the boys will love them!
I ordered a few of the same book to give as gifts to my girlfriends. One of the books is in too bad of shape to gift. I know the website says there may be a slight embellishment but there is no way I could gift the book. The rest seem to be fine for gifting.
My boxes all came separately and were mostly damaged. Although the books inside were relatively unharmed, the quality of quite a few was much lower. I don't believe this was due to shipping but rather the quality of the boxes.
Right price, easy ordering process. I purchased the same item about a month ago from a other online company. It cost me 3X what I paid for it when I purchases from Book Outlet. I will be purchasing more in the near future.
Easy to find books for a great price, the shipping takes longer than anticipated but it is such a good price for the books that waiting really isn't a issue. Will definitely purchase more in the future.
The website promised a discount if I provided an email address but the discount was never provided as stated.
The package was delivered in a cardboard box which got very wet unlike other vendors who package in a plastic bag. Fortunately the book survived.
The prices seemed good and I received the books within a week of ordering them. The only issue was one of the books I purchased I received an email about a few days later saying it was not in stock anymore so I was disappointed by that. Otherwise service was great and I would definitely purchase more books from here.
I love using bookoutlet. The prices are very cheap, and they are quick to get things sent out. The one time a package got lost bookoutlet refilled the order to the best of their ability and refunded the rest.
My only issue is that they use no cushioning in their packaging and I have had more than one paperback become dinged, bent, or messed up by the other hardcovers in the order more than once. The postal service is not kind to boxes and a little fluff in the box could go a long way!
I initially received a defective book (started on page 59 and then repeated a number of pages). I didn't discover the issue until months later when I sat down to read the book. I knew I was out of the return period, but emailed customer service to see if I might be able to get a replacement. I was offered a credit or replacement with no shipping charges. I very much appreciate the response and action. I received the replacement book and the first thing I did was check the pages.:-)
Books arrived damaged:
One box arrived totally broken open. With weak boxes being used, tape needs to be applied to the outside of the boxes.
As with my previous order, no packing materials were added to the inside of the boxes, to fill the empty spaces. Thus the books were tossed around inside the boxes during shipment and were damaged.
Also, one book was defective, with upside-down front endpapers. That book was badly damaged.
As a long time Book Outlet customer, I know that in years past the boxes used to be packed correctly, with shipping materials added inside to protect the books. Now that that is no longer the case, I won't be buying from Book Outlet again.

It took over a month to get to me. One of the books was ripped. I tried to call several times and got the same recorded message saying high call volume that I should email. I email a pictures of the book that was ripped in two places and never received an email back.

We have a charity for autism and every year we do a special box of goodies that get shipped across the country. We always include a book in this loot. Once Covid hit, it was hard to get our book contacts back for donations of cookbooks and more -- this year hit hard. We were able to nab some nice titles for a cost that was within budget. Shipped fast. We will be back!
I am so glad I found this site for books! I have ordered TONS of books from them & couldn't be happier! They have great pricing and they ship super fast. The one time I had to call to ask a question, they answered quickly and were friendly & helpful. I highly recommend them & I will continue to order from them.
I am excited to find another source for books that is NOT Amazon. The selection is ok. I often put something in my shopping cart that is no longer available but didn't find out until I went to checkout. I received my first order and found most of the books to appear to be in used condition. It's more about the words than the esthetics, right? Prices are descent but you need to order enough to get the free shipping in order to make it worth the price; OTW I can wait until it's super cheap on kindle. All in all, it's a fairly good source.
