DarnToothySam replaced LCD in Canon camera for about $70 bucks and they had it back to me in 2 weeks. Full story: I did send an e-mail query first which was not answered, then called; Tom answered, told me the repair price listed on web site was too high, and he was about to lower it by about $30 (huh?). He did. Best Buy said it would cost over $200 to replace and I should just buy a new camera. I guess maybe they can work on their communication, but this is a small business and I for one am willing to cut people slack. I read the negative reviews on sitejabber first–most of which sounded to me like the same psycho posting over and over–and found the MANY positive reviews more persuasive. I was not wrong. Would not hesitate to send my camera in again (if I drop it again!).
Where is my order # 16031, or some information about shipping? Discounted credit card already! Any response on it after two weeks? NOTHING! Only "order received", no more! No e-mail response. I was waiting for a part for over 6 weeks. If it wasn't the part was on back order, it was that it was damage in transit to him. I already called my credit card company to launch a complaint to get my money back. Have anybody else notice the trick with the deliveries tracking number this person is providing on his comments? He is supposedly working out of an operation ran by two people and shipping out of "******* 4th Ave. South, Burnsville, MN *******". Three of the shipments he's referring to are shipping out of "EL PASO, TX *******, HAZELWOOD, MO ******* and FOREST PARK, IL *******". There could be a reasonable explanation but if you want good reviews you got to start satisfying customers and stop the bogus excuses.
I found darntoothysam.com when I searched for Sony H5 shutter button repair. They are by far the best monetary deal out there for this common issue, and also sell the parts to do the repair yourself.
I purchased the repair online and sent my camera via usps priority mail on 12/05/11. I received it back today, on 01/27/12. I am happy with the repair itself, the camera was in the same condition as I sent it, and it was packaged well for return shipping. It arrived via usps priority mail with signature delivery confirmation, which I appreciated.
The repair from my local post office to my porch took 7.5 weeks. During this time I made many attempts to check on the status of the repair, beginning at about 3 weeks after mailing. Of the approximately 5 e-mails, 10 phone calls, and a couple of facebook posts, I received 1 e-mail response, 1 facebook response, and had 1 phone call answered. When Tom did finally answer, he was polite and professional, and did as he said he would.
So overall:
Value: excellent. The cost is much better than other places.
Repair sevice: Good. My camera seems to be working fine after the repair. The wait was frustrating.
Customer service: Weak. This definitely needs improvement.

I placed an order on March 15th, I received a confirmation email and my bank account was charged successfully. I never received my order. When I log into the site, the status is "order received". There has been no follow up from them about my item being on back order and no shipment information. I called both numbers listed on the website at 2 pm on 3 different days. No one ever answered the phone. The message states to NOT leave a message. I also emailed on April 7, April 10 and April 17. I have never received any response. I will be disputing the charge with my bank. This company is completely unprofessional and has no customer service whatsoever. I can't believe they are still in business.
UPDATE: Conveniently, after I wrote this review and called my bank to dispute the charges and emailed "customer service" telling them I was disputing the charge, two days later the status of my item has been updated to "shipped". Of course, no one from Darn Toothy Same called or emailed me to update me (or apologize!). Also, the tracking number does not work. What a terrible company!
Hi Kim. Sorry for the problem with your order, we just got the part in yesterday afternoon and were shipping it today. Nikon is having major manufacturing problems and TONS of our Nikon parts are on backorder.
I answer the phone myself all day long as best I can, and I get 100 emails per day which I have a very difficult time trying to answer. I don't charge enough money to pay for more help.

Don't Buy Here! AVOID THIS BUSINESS! Darn Toothy Sam (www.darntoothysam.com) - Better Business Bureau ACCREDITATION REVOKED on Nov 19,2010. According to BBB website, thirty complaints have been filed against the company.
I was looking the BBB up to file my complaint, when I noticed they had already taken action. My Canon Digital Rebel was shipped to them Nov 4th, 2010, and as of today, Feb 7th, 2011, it is not repaired, and no emails are responded to, no phone calls returned.
This is the one repair where we have had major problems, and I have taken steps to correct this problem. I had to farm out the soldering to a friend as it is too fine for us to do here, and he has caused me major problems with not doing the repairs for me for weeks or months at a time.
I now have another way to complete the repair and this won't be an issue in the future.
Your camera is being fixed and he said he is sending it back to me within the next day or two. As soon as I have your camera here I will ship it back to you.
I have never stolen anything from anyone, nor would I.

Just ridiculous. I was told my camera would be fixed within a couple of weeks of it being received and its been a month now. I would not be complaining, except i had talked to the owner who said he was ordering the part as we spoke (lies) and it would be at their store that week and sent out also that week or early the next. Your Sony TX100 has an LCD we've never had before and ordered it specially for you, exactly as I said I did. Our supplier is out of stock and said they were getting more in soon, I still haven't gotten it in yet from them, I can't control that I'm sorry.

Darntoothysam.com sucks. I've ordered LCD screen protector for Canon 1Ds on 8/8/2011, paid the same day with PayPal. I've not heard from DTS for 10 days. I've sent them 2 emails asking when item will be shipped, no response.
On 8/18 I've filed PayPal dispute. Still no answer. So, today, on 8/19, I've escalated dispute to a claim. PayPal refunded me within 1 hour. Amazing, usually it takes day or two. It means they have a lot of issues with DTS and they are used to refunding his customers.
I don't know about how DTS fixes cameras, but they have worst customer service. No communication whatsoever. They wasted 10 days of my time because they did not have the product they sold me. I could have ordered that screen protector from any other website and have it delivered in 48 hours, because of them, I still don't have it.

I'd just like to echo what others have written here about the slow responses... or more like NO responses. I ordered a part from my camera, and I was told it could be a week. It's been longer than that, and my inquiries to find out when it might be shipped have gone unanswered. Phone calls go to a recording that says voicemails can't be taken and that customers should send emails. On the recordings, this guy says it's a "small camera shop", but if the volume of calls and emails are so great, he should perhaps hire someone to field those for him. On the off chance that he will respond to this (as I see he's done in the past for other negative posts), my order number to him is *******. I just want to know when my part will be sent... you've already got my money, Thomas, and now there is no way for me to contact you. You SAY your business isn't a scam, but there seems to be an awful lot of similar complaints... perhaps THIS is why the BBB revoked its accreditation. Should I not hear anything, I guess my next action will be file a complaint with the AG of Minnesota, my home state of Virginia, and the Justice Department, as this involves interstate commerce. I think a large part of your complaints, Thomas, would be solved if you responded timely to your customers, don't you think?

Sorry about the problem with your order, it has been cancelled and refunded. The part was on backorder and taking extra time to arrive, it happens with every business that sells things.
I answer all phone calls here myself as best I can. I can't afford a call center in another country because I don't charge enough money. If I'm talking with a customer then EVERYBODY else gets voicemail or a busy signal. I speak with many people every day.
One of my repair techs answers emails every day as well as repairing cameras. We have one email from you yesterday, and one today, no others.
The BBB "revoked" my accreditation because I didn't pay $600 to be a member after my membership expired. The BBB is nothing but a company that charges other companies to register complaints. The BBB has no power, and can do nothing for anyone, all they want is money from other businesses.

My wife dropped her canon and cracked the view screem. Darntoothy replaced it at a good price and the camera was returned to us in a timely manner. I would use him again.
I read all the other reviews only after making the purchase of an LCD screen for a Cannon camera. So I called the company on both of their phones (No answer after repeated calls) I thought I was in trouble so then I e-mailed them and I received a response quite fast. Received all the information I needed but was still nervous because of the negative reviews.
So here is my review :) I ordered the LCD on February the 4th and received it on February 15th it was the correct part made by Sony for the Cannon camera. It fit perfectly took me thirty minutes for the whole installation and it worked flawless.
Conclusion these people are very busy and apparently don't have time for phone conversations as they are taking care of the orders to ship.
I received e-mails with all the updates and flawless service and good price so I will rate them with 41/2 stars they would have gotten 5 stars if I could reach them by phone but that might increase the cost of the parts as they would have to have another employee answering the phone.
I'm sorry for those people who had trouble but for me it was flawless service and quality part.

The "used screen" person you are referring to, I'm tired of explaining. His Sony DSLR-A350 has a window over the LCD. He paid us to repair the LCD so we did. He didn't pay for us to replace the window, nor was it damaged enough to cause any problems, nor is replacing the window included with the LCD repair. We replaced his broken LCD with a brand new one and sent his camera back. That is all.
If you want to tell me your order number, I will be happy to cancel your order and refund your money.

I ordered a replacement screen for my Sony SLT-A77 camera on Sunday, Feb. 24,2013 and even paid for the Priority Mail option to make sure I got the part in time for a photoshoot I had the following Saturday. I ordered a battery door for my camera a long time past now. The part never came and I have called so much and just get the voicemail telling me they are too busy so do not leave a message. I have emailed and all of my emails go unanswered. They just ignore me and they want to keep my money. I'm going to call my bank tomorrow and see if it can be disputed. Today I went to the sure to check my order status and all I got was a warning from google that the website was not safe to go to. It was saying that his site transmits some sort of badware or something like that. I should have listened to google and stayed away from darntoothysam.com, nit my computer is totally infected with a virus or whatever his site sends out. I researched the virus that I got from darntoothysam and it hijacks the computer and sends ny personal information out without me knowing. I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH, DARNTOOTHYSAM IS JUST HORRIBLE. I searched for "Jim S" and "James S" in our order history, but there are none that are waiting for a battery door. I have a "James Sh..." in PA (order #12094) that ordered a memory card door and received it on Aug. 30th, but that is as close as I can find.
I answer all the calls here myself all day, if you get voicemail or busy signal I am away from the phone or on the phone with another customer.
The problem with the website yesterday was that THOUSANDS of websites hosted on GoDaddy.com and had Wordpress Blog software installed were hacked. The hack was redirecting people to another website that has nothing to do with us. Once we found out about the problem we deleted the code, had the website scanned and Google cleared us and removed the warning from our website.
No customer information was compromised, and no viruses or other harmful programs were sent to anyone from our website. I'm sorry if you were affected by it, but we didn't do anything to cause it to happen.
As I said before, please let me know your order number and I will be happy to send you the door.

My Canon Rebel had a few bent pins that needed repair and I wanted to find a local place that I could send it to do the work instead of shipping it off to Canon. I guess I should have shipped it to Canon. I paid for the pin repair service online(which said it took 1-2 weeks), filled out the form, packaged the camera and got confirmation that it arrived. That was on February 8th. By March 8th I was starting to wonder what happened to the camera so I called the 800 number and left a message. Then I tried the local number (long distance for me) and it basically said they were too busy to answer messages on that line and to send an email. So I sent an email. No answer, no response, nothing. Called a few days later and emailed asking what was going on with this repair. No response. Waited a week - my husband called and happened to catch him - he said he forgot to order the part and he wasn't planning on ordering it anytime soon so he'd send it to someone else to fix it and I'd have it by the early this week. Of course nothing. I called and emailed again today - big surprise no answer and no response. Since I've already paid for the service AND he has my camera and I get no responses from calling or emailing and it seems you have to be really lucky to actually have him answer the phone... I feel like driving the hour to his address and knock on his door until someone answers!... Good luck - just send your camera to Canon and forget this guy.
On 10/18/2010 I ordered a LCD Screen for my DSC H1 Sony Cyper Shot Camera when I received the LCD Screen in December after many emails and it was broken when I emailed back I was told if I send it back which I did on Dec 6th they would replace it but to this date I have never received a thing including any email replies. I have kept all of my emails and even asked to be refunded my money but still no response. Still would like to see my money back or atleast a LCD Screen that is not broken

It seems as if I had to remind him that I needed my part. I'm sorry, he should have given me a refund when I asked for it after 5 months. I'm not sure if the part is going to be correct or not, but who cares any more. I had the camera fixed in time for Christmas pictures. This is the worst online shopping "adventure" I have ever had. Steven, this part has been on backorder with Nikon for SEVERAL MONTHS. They cannot keep up with production of lens mounts; we CANNOT control that. When the lens mounts went out of stock we updated the website to say their status was "1 month+ backorder". We just TODAY got 5 in stock from them!
At no time did I say EVERY review is fake. The reviews I say are fake, ARE FAKE. They never say who they are or what they supposedly purchased and we NEVER hear from them again.

If you purchased a Sony DSLR-A300/A350 LCD then yes, the shipping was greatly delayed because an entire shipment of them was damaged in transit to us and I had to order more. Sorry, sometimes problems happen with EVERY business EVERYWHERE in the world.
