DarnToothySam replaced LCD in Canon camera for about $70 bucks and they had it back to me in 2 weeks. Full story: I did send an e-mail query first which was not answered, then called; Tom answered, told me the repair price listed on web site was too high, and he was about to lower it by about $30 (huh?). He did. Best Buy said it would cost over $200 to replace and I should just buy a new camera. I guess maybe they can work on their communication, but this is a small business and I for one am willing to cut people slack. I read the negative reviews on sitejabber first–most of which sounded to me like the same psycho posting over and over–and found the MANY positive reviews more persuasive. I was not wrong. Would not hesitate to send my camera in again (if I drop it again!).
Where is my order # 16031, or some information about shipping? Discounted credit card already! Any response on it after two weeks? NOTHING! Only "order received", no more! No e-mail response. This is a joke with the client. Almost no review speak well of you. If they are responsible, waiting a decent answer!
I, unlike many on this site, had an excellent experience with darntoothysam.com. I ordered a lens repair kit for my daughter's Canon SD1000 that had been dropped. The kit was delivered quickly. Once I took a look at the size of the parts I knew my huge hands weren't going to be able to do the repair. I called several times before I was able to talk with Thomas directly (the only slightly negative part of the experience). When I got him, I explained what had happened and asked if I could send in the camera with the repair kit and have him do the repairs. I sent the camera and the parts (along with a check for the $20 difference between the parts and the complete repair cost). My daughter's camera was returned within one week (total turnaround time), perfectly repaired.
I get the impression this is pretty much a one man shop, so I guess quick turnaround may have been a problem for some of you. I usually trust consumer reviews, but I say with confidence that I would recommend this site for camera repair any time based on my personal experience.
I sent my Canon SX10IS to have the LCD screen replaced. The service was outstanding. The work was accomplished quickly and thoroughly and the camera returned to me in a very short time period.
ALMOST A YEAR OF HIM LIEING TO ME. Where is my refund or my part? All over a small purchase. STAY CLEAR OF THIS GUY!
ABC News went to his house and aired the story on the news, you can watch it here: http://kstp.com/news/stories/s*******.shtml
Ordered Camera Handstrap screws for a Canon Powershot. Received them within a few days. Received good communication telling when the order was received and when it was shipped.
I called this guy after laying my wifes 539 lbs. Piaggio mp3 scooter on its side on top of my Canon Vixia hf-200. (DON`T ASK!) I can fix most anything so...
Researching vixia hf-200 led screen replacement brought limited info back. He has several bad reviews, I told him & after a few minutes bought the parts I needed. He delivered them in less the a week, they are exactly the same part. In 10 minutes the camera was back together and working. I find people in business, like life, want to help & will work through problems. I am guessing the previous complaints could have been worked out with a phone call & a little patience. I paid $101. For the part and canon quoted me $231 just to get started with possible additional billing to follow. Darntoothysam delivered quickly and even agreed (prior to purchase) to accept item as returned if I was not satisfied. Darntoothysam is to my judgment an honorable member of the over the internet sales folks & in my opinion & experience totally safe to deal with. I will rely upon him to help me save money fixing my stuff.
Thanks DTS

Ordered a bit for my damaged Canon - arrived pretty quickly and a good price too. Happy to do business with them again.
I would not have send my camera to this establishment if I have come across this website to find out how poor service people are getting from darntoothysam.com.
I have sent my Sony Alpha 100 with lense to fix the LCD repair, and they charged $139 to my account using Paypal. I am ok with them charging, but no email response or anything other then my camera was sent to repair which I received on April 10th, 2012.
My order ID Number is #*******, and serial number is *******. I have sent several emails and tried to call them without any luck.
I tried to open case with Paypal, and they won't take the case.
I am desperate as I am going on vacation to yellowstone next month, and need my DSLR back. It was April 10th when they received the camera, and today is June 21st, 2012.
This is really sad. My wife has suggested that I have lost the camera and the money to repair. I am holding hopes here to prove my wife wrong.
I need the camera back because I don't want to purchase another camera just for the trip.
I have thought about driving to Burnsville, MN to pick up my camera many times.
Please fix my camera if you can't, please send it back, and I will find other place to repair.
I have emailed them several times asking for the part I ordered since they already charged my paypal for it. Most places do not charge you until the item is shipped. They rarely answer emails. Mostly they ignore you which is bad for business. I will dispute this on paypal and I will find another source for Canon camera parts. If you're in a hurry skip DTS. They do not understand about customer service and communication but they WILL take your money!
You WILL get an answer from Thomas D at *******@darntoothysam.com
He likes confrontation and only responded to me after I disputed the Paypal transaction and got my money back.
Thomas D. Blamed Alex since he doesn't read "sales" emails. Funny since they seem to be working from a small house. Apparently Thomas is so busy answering complaints on the internet and wearing his sass hat that he has no time to call Canon about parts or do his job. Poor Alex is just a fall guy!
Thomas D. I don't believe all I read online. But I believe you did not keep your word to the people who complained. They are not fake or made up like you want to believe. I know you want my order number to make sure I'm "real" but your bogus site never gave me one or an order confirmation email for that matter. You should follow the advice of the nice man who had his 9 year old send you money and close your site until you can get a handle on your "job". You definitely have a screw loose and I don't mean in your camera!
To order camera parts from Canon call *******569. They told me the part was on back order before they even took my card info. They immediately send order acknowledgement and confirmation emails. That is how a good company does business. It's nice to not be ignored and not have my money stolen by a scam biz!
Heather (HM): You paid with Paypal, which is ALWAYS instant no matter who you pay or why, we don't control that. You filed a Paypal dispute, and I refunded it no problem.
The battery door is on backorder and we don't know when the national parts distribution center will get any.
You told me you spoke with Alex via email 1 or 2 times; he repairs cameras, answers emails and does shipping here, we are a small shop. I don't know why he didn't let you know it's on backorder but it's hard for us to keep up on every email every day. You then emailed me at a different email address and I responded right away. You then gave me grief that I responded to you right away, I don't understand why.
We ship out dozens upon dozens of parts and repaired cameras every week. I have never stolen anything from anyone and I did nothing to you other than have a part that was out of stock.
Thomas,
As it seems fruitless to get any response from you through your 800 number or email, it does seem that you respond to comments posted on this site. So here goes another attempt to contact you, and HOPE to get a response. To refresh your memory, I sent a Canon SD980IS camera needing lens repair (due to being dropped at Christmas), and my daughters 4th generation Ipod touch that had a broken digitizer. USPS confirms that you received my shipment on January 13th 2012. We had a phone conversation on 1/11/12 that your repair person had repaired Ipods before, but had not done a repair on the touch model, but you seemed confident that the repair could be completed even though Ipod repair was not a service you normally provide. I filled out the repair form from your website and sent it along with the camera and Ipod as instructed. At the time, we agreed to delay payment for both repairs until you were able to determine a firm price for the Ipod repair (You did give me an approximate maximum cost at this time). Once that was determined, you were to inform me of the total repair costs (for both), so that we could arrange paying for both at once. At this point, there was never an order number because I never heard from you, even after repeated attempts to try contacting you. Please send my camera and Ipod back to me so I can get it repaired elsewhere.

I ordered a camera lens barrier cover parts from darntoothysam. It took over a week for me to recieve my order, which I wasn't mad about considering this is a small business. The instructions on Mr. Drayton website to fix my Canon Powershot SD1000 camera was precise. It took me 3 hours, but MY CAMERA IS FIXED and I'm FILLED WITH JOY! THANK YOU MR. DRAYTON:)
Beverly F, Cleveland Hts., OH
Thanks Beverly... I know that those little springs can be tough with that repair but I'm glad that you were able to get it to work.
I have read a lot of negative reviews about darntoothysam.com, and am pretty shocked. My experience was FANTASTIC! Before buying the package to fix my Canon PowerShot SD600, I was told (via long-distance phone call) how long it would take, what may cause a delay in getting the camera back, what may also be needed to be replaced in addition to what I am paying for and how much anything extra would cost as far as parts and labor. I packaged the camera as per the instructions I was given, sent it off, and I got the camera back in a timely fashion. The work that has been done to it is top-notch, and I was NEVER under the impression that this business is (or ever was) a scam. I hope that I don't have to get a camera repaired again, but if I do, I will certainly use darntoothysam.com. And, to those people who complained that darntoothysam.com said that they didn't receive your camera, or that it was "lost in the mail," I find it hard to believe that somebody would ship ANYTHING that costs over 50 or 60 bucks (let alone a camera worth several hundred) and NOT pay the extra couple of bucks for delivery confirmation and insurance. If you want somebody to blame, go look in the mirror.
I ordered a part and I received nothing. I've wasted too much time trying to deal with this Thomas guy and his games. I'm moving on.
Sorry MS I don't know who you are or what your order is.
They fixed my camera and sent it back in a timely manner.
I have been using it ever since.
I was completely happy with their service.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a feedback Mary! We fixed the shutter button on Marys Sony DSC-H2 camera with an aluminum button and give a lifetime guarantee on the repair!
Why don't people calling me a scammer comment when one of my happy customers post? Mary is yet another of our 15,000+ happy customers!
We have never stolen anything from anyone!
I sent my camera to darntoothysam for an LCD repair -took a few weeks and Emails were a little slow but the price was reasonable and the repair was done right - i would use him again!
Sorry for the slow emails John, I know it's an area where we really need to make improvement but I can't afford to hire someone to help. I don't charge much for labor so I don't make a lot of profit! Very glad you were happy with your repair and thank you for the comment.
Thomas
I ordered a part for a Canon Elph and received it promptly, I did have trouble communicating, but can understand the situation if you don't have the help.
I rated COOL
Sorry for the delay in communications, I answer the phone myself so if someone else is on the line with me you will get voicemail or busy signal. I hope the screws don't fall out of your Canon SD790 again... put locktite on them! Thanks for taking the time to leave a review Dennis.
Thomas
We originally placed an order on December 21st. We paid for expedited shipping! Said that there was a week turn around for special orders. We e-mailed them 4 times on 1/13,1/17,1/19,1/25 and NEVER received a response. Finally I had had enough. I called them ALL FREAKING DAY LONG! I finally miraculously got through around 4:15 pm. (I'd been trying since 9 am)
When I talked to Thomas, he said he didn't know what was going on with the order. I told him at this point I wanted my money back. Thomas got an attitude once I told him I wanted a refund. I told him that we had tried to contact him numerous times. To which he kept saying he was a small business and he didn't hire out a call center in India to take calls. He also said he recieves over 100 e-mails a day and he can't respond to every one of them. As a customer, I don't care that you are a small business. I care about CUSTOMER SERVICE. He told me to enjoy my broken camera and to go to Best Buy and spend $289 for the part, THANK YOU THOMAS I WILL! I'd rather pay triple the price and know that I can get the product and can deal with a company that can deal with their customer load. Hey Thomas, take a hint. Raise your prices about $20 and you could afford to pay someone to help you since apparently you are too slammed to help you customers!
Sorry you weren't happy with your purchase Christopher, but EVERY business EVERYWHERE has problems at one time or another. NO company anywhere has 100% perfectly satisfied customers when it comes to selling directly to consumers. I answer all the calls here myself as best I can. I apologized on the phone with you for the problem with your order, and I said I would ship it out 2nd day THAT DAY to make up for it. Best Buy cannot sell you an LCD screen, and they cannot fix your camera; but they will charge you $250 to send it to Canon for you when you can do it yourself for probably $200. I won't overcharge people and rip them off like Best Buy does, sorry. I don't charge $50 give an estimate, I give them free. If I can't repair a camera for a customer, there is no charge. Where do you think Best Buy gets their MILLIONS of dollars for TV advertising? By overcharging you and ripping you off, that's where. You would gladly pay triple for the same thing after I apologized and offered to ship it out express right away? Makes no sense. Your order was cancelled and refunded exactly as you asked.
WARNING. Don't send your camera to darntoothysam, it's way too risky in my book! I lost a nice camera to him and got a lot of empty promises but nothing delivered.
He was FULL OF EXCUSES when we called, no camera, our money gone, it's a flat out SCAM! We had to call a different times for months and after probably over a hundred calls (possibly more than that) we got him to answe one time! He pretended he couldn't hear my husband (childish). Mire empty promises and mire months have passed and NOTHING HAS COME BACK! We called visa who claims we are too late to do a dispute now.
If you've got a camera at his house (it's nit an actual business address), get ahold of your bank or paypal FAST! They can do a dispute which holds the payment until your camera comes back or he responds. They can then release the funds back to him if you tell them to, it's called a dispute and every credit card company can do it, even paypal. By waiting too long, that privelage is then lost.
I'm so disgusted we have to go out and buy a new camera now. I wish we had read these reviews before we sent him our camera and money!
AN, if you have a problem with our service please let me know who you actually are and I will help you. There's no way for me to know who you are by "AN" and no order number or anything.
YES I run the business from my home. Why is that a problem? Did you know Amazon.com, Microsoft and Harley Davidson all started from somebodies home?
My toll free # has been acting up and I sometimes don't hear the person when I answer so I hang up after a few seconds. At no time was I childish or hanging up on you.
What is your name? What is your order number? If you tell me I'd be happy to help you.
I needed a new LCD Screen for my Canon S5 IS digital camera. Surfed the Net for a replacement part and Darntoothysam.com came up. The price of $46.77 was much cheaper than at Canon, so I ordered it and paid by credit card.
That was on June 30,2010. Later that day, I checked the site for the status of my order. It said "Order received". I also checked online with my credit card company and saw that the amount of my order had been charged. All looked well. I checked the darntoothysam.com website daily to see when my order would be shipped. Nothing changed in the next 10 days.
On July 10, I called both the 1-888 number and the local Minnesota number on the site. No one answered but I got a message saying they were too busy to answer the phones? So, send an E-mail. This I did that evening. I waited another 10 days for a reply with no results.
This morning (July 20) I was ready to call my credit card company to ask for their help in resolving the situation/get my money back. Just before I did, an E-mail suddenly arrived from the owner of the company! It said the ststus of my order was "Shipped" and gave me a tracking number at the U.S. Postal Service!
I thankfully replied and asked if it was normal for orders to take almost three weeks to be shipped. The owner immediately replied by E-mail to say that the order papers had been misplaced but as soon as they were found (19 days later), the LCD Screen had been sent to USPS for shipping to me.
I now anxiously await delivery through the postal service of the camera part to my home. Though the experience has been less than ideal, if the part arrives safe and sound in the next few days I'll be quite satisfied.
I am angry. This what happen to us. My daughter is studying in school in united states. Her camera break and we finding www.darntoothysam.com on the internet. She send to him at end of 2010 year and she no have her camera back. He has keeping the camera and take her money to fix it but no fix it and no return nothing to my daughter. I am not in the united state so is hard for me to help her from here. I try and call and she try and call his number on his website but nobody answer. We read this and we know it is a bad thing now that she sending her camera to him. My son did many searching in this place and he tell me is a trick for getting the camera from the people. This is what he is saying to do. Call to your credit card companys and they will put on hold the money he take so they can get the money back for you. We are check to his other site you find call www.artladymanor.com and is also a ripoff internet site. We find on www.ripoffreport.com he is doing same and trick people and getting the money. And he say is no his house and is a real busness and is no true. My son check and is no true. The www.darntoothysam.com is the house and you check on internet and see to. So do not beleve him. He lie to my daughter to much. When he is getting the money he do not talk or email no more. We already call to credit card company for help us.
Gustavo: My apologies, this is our fault completely! Your camera has now been repaired and shipped back to the address on your order via US Mail.

Yes the business is run out of my home and yes we are a business. Amazon.com, Microsoft, Apple and Harley-Davidson all started out of someones home!
The notes on your order state that you did not pay anything for the repair, we do not have any credit card payments from you that I know about! Your camera was repaired for free and is on the way back to you. I have already emailed you with the shipping information to your email on the order.
Thomas
They took my camera for more than a month return it with a used parts, never answer my email! Or phone calls!... STAY AWAY!
I have already explained all of the following to you via email:
Your LCD was on backorder, sorry. We did the repair as soon as we got in stock.
Your camera is a Sony DSLR-A350, and the LCD screen is under a protective plastic window. This window IS NOT part of the LCD screen and IS NOT replaced when we replace your LCD. Your LCD is 100% brand new and perfect. Your window has scuffs on it from YOUR USE of the camera, the LCD is not used.
I answer all phonecalls myself, we are a small shop and I cannot afford to pay for an overseas call center. Also, I have a person that answers emails every day. I am working with him to get a smoother system put into place for dealing with emails to which he doesn't know the answer.
Thomas Drayton,
Owner, Darntoothysam.com
I sent my camera in for repair, paying via Paypal in advance. My camera model, order number, etc, does not matter here. I see the reviews and I will say that he is not a crook, or a thief, or a scammer. He is, however, bad at communications. Agreed, the website states 7-10 day turn-around on some repairs. My 7-10 days was actually closer to 4 months. He does not keep the customer informed, does not answer emails (or phone messages apparently) in a timely manner if at all. Always the excuse of being a small business, etc, etc, etc. It seems that many items sent to him for repair end up going to the manufacturer or a 3rd party for repair, which only add to the delays. Of course he does not inform the customer that this has happened. My unit was sent to the manufacturer after being "repaired" at his shop where it sat for 30 days before he authorized the repairs! I think that this business needs to control the number of repairs they take on and to change the "promised" turn-around times. When a customer send an item in for repair that could be valued into the thousands of dollars and they do not hear from the shop weeks after they were supposed to have received a repaired product, then of course the worst is believed. Mr. Drayton spends entirely too much time and energy defending himself and his business than he does responding to legitimate customers call and emails. If you are not in a hurry to get your gear repaired, he will get it fixed. If you are in a hurry and expect it in the 7-10 days-forget it, you will be in for a lot of discontent, so sent it to the manufacturer and spend the big $$ to avoid this drama.
It was hard to get a hold of Thomas but once I did my camera was repaired and returned to me promptly.
Your camera was repaired within a day or two after talking with you about it. We sent it back to you Express Overnight at our expense so that it would make it back to you in time for your trip, and I let you know you would need to be there to sign for it; we will not ship back a camera without Signature Confirmation upon delivery.

By far some of the nicest and most helpful people. I would use them anytime and highly recommend to others. Tim Marcino - Sony A350 repair
Thanks Tim just glad we were able to get your DSLR back to you in time!
Thomas
Found a needed camera part on the web site at a reasonable price. The part arrived promptly as was as advertised. Doesn't get better than that!
Thank you Tony, it's nice to hear from happy customers! Glad we could help with your repair.
I bought a LCD Screen for my camera, in 20 March 2012.
I received an email from Darnthoothysam, with the confirmation of my order, and I was charge my account same day.
I waited for a shipping confirmation email, for a couple of weeks and nothing. I called the company, they did answer, and I didnt leave a message, because they ask you not to, "they don't have time to listen to them" (that's not my personal opinion, that's what the recorded message says). I send an email to the company, asking about my order. I did hear back from them.
Waited another week, I send them another email, asking about my order, and I got nothing.
Waited another week, and I started sending emails, almost every day, for a couple of weeks, still nothing. Try to call them several times; I could get a hold of anyone.
I am really patient, and I don't need the screen that bad, to get upset about not getting my product right away.
What I think is not fair, is that I got charged right away, and still they can't answer my emails.
This is a message for you Thomas D. I understand if you don't have time, but you are running a business and if you don't like negative comments, improve your business. People are not lying about their experiences, Im not lying.
There is no excuse for your terrible customer services. And if you can't handle your business, don't charge your customers, until your sure you can do it.
But I guess you go by "ITS EASIER TO ASK TO SAY SORRY THAN TO ASK FOR PERMISSION"

Thank you Tony for taking the time to let others know you were happy with your purchase from us. Please don't drop your scooter on your camcorder again though!
