Disqus has a rating of 1.4 stars from 216 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Disqus most frequently mention free speech, abc news, and conservative views problems. Disqus ranks 617th among Social Network sites.
I love the fact that I can go on Disqus and not constantly be set upon by whiny trolls who constantly spew hate speech because I can just block their constant vitriol from my sight with the handy blocking feature! Not to mention that most of the moderators there are wonderful people who know and ban a troll immediately when they see one, thank god. You can even make your own forums for free! What more could you want?
Don't waste your time with Disqus. No matter how polite or benign a comment it is, their algorithms are designed to remove them. All opinions must agree with the algorithms. I only commented that I lived in a state where tornadoes are frequent, but I have never actually seen one, myself, and Disqus found this offensive.
Until today I was unaware that Disqus held a deep political alliance with postmodern progressives. And all this time I thought they were a business promoting free discussion about the information posted on sites that host Disqus. Disqus now appears to be an abomination, a business that censors free discussion. Apparently, they are missing a key emoticon on their homepage, a red hammer and sickle icon.
I will no longer support Breitbart because they use disqus for their comments. I literally get banned everyday to every other day for reasons that DO NOT VIOLATE the rules stated on the site. Breitbart better wake up and get rid of disqus because they are contributing to their readers being silenced. You get banned just for saying George Soros name which is well known and why people spell it in creative ways such as sore@ss s ()r ()s etc
I would have rated the site zero if I had the option. I replied to a comment about the white lives matter versus the black lives matter and I simply asked, "How have I oppressed people simply because I'm white?" The comment was removed therefore I consider Disqus to be a communistic website.
I wanted to purchase a new car but i couldn't because of my poor credit score then i contacted karma credit for help. I had a few collections and some hard inquiries. Karma credit took care of the collections and raised my score to 780. I got the car and thanks to him. You can reach him on; karmacredit@ repairman.com. Or *******314

It is terrible! It takes FOREVER to load up, if it ever does. So many sites use it for comments, so many people can't comment. This happens on MS Edge AND Google Chrome. Unfortunately I cant get a pic the size this site allows.
I stopped using Disqus today. It appears to be designed for "political trolls", meaning, it is perfectly alright for anybody to write a short obnoxious comment yet as soon as you write out a well throughout comment or reply, it will flag your comment as "SPAM" and however long you took to write your comment or reply will be wasted time and effort.
Recently I have been forced to sign into Disqus every single time on every website I frequent. It used to remember me most of the time and it was a rare occasion that a login was required. In addition to that I enter my email and then password and it kicks me out and then requires the Captcha box. Why doesn't that box show up the first time I attempt login? What is up with the changes?
I wouldn't think that outside sites that use the Disqus interface would be very happy that Disqus is also blocking their traffic by blacklisting. That takes revenue away from everyone.
Disqus is cutting its own throats by this practice.
No wonder they have lost half their traffic this year alone.
If you want to avoid headaches, avoid Disqus.
If your goal as a site owner is to make money, avoid the Disqus chat interface. Disqus will rob you of your revenue.
Moderators on individual websites ban users with the most sophisticated, intelligent arguments; this renders the site virtually useless- as only persons with viewpoints that the moderator agrees with may post thus turning it into a "preach to the choir confirmation bias only club".
I was banned from "Not Sorry Feminism" article "Leave Women Alone" dated "Monday, August 18,2014" by moderator "Lindsey Weedston Mod", she routinely bans any poster who disagrees with her.
There is no appeal- nor is there a way to contact the moderator.
Disqus blocked me for my conservative comments! I believe it was the result of whining lefties, that like to dish it out but can't take it, complaining as abuse. They blocked my second account as well which likely means they blocked my I. P.
Commy Pinkos!
The company has posted editorials claiming that the more a discussion is censored the higher it is in quality, and that that isn't censorship at all. Orwell would clap at such impeccable doublethink. Disqus embraces all kinds of unethical conduct, like shadow bans, fake posting (where it seems to the poster the comment was posted but it wasn't), post hiding via voting (aka argumentum ad populum, one of the most basic fallacies), and allowing moderators to be openly hostile toward some minority groups while simultaneously blocking posts containing innocuous words. Even removing the words the overzealous system flags, prior to posting the comment, is enough to have the post blocked regardless.
Disqus seems to be someone thumbing their nose at others more than anything.
Tip for consumers:
Disqus censorship has increased with time. Now, for instance, it requires that a person set up an account.

I used disqus on my site and monetized it, after realizing their system and monetization was trash, I ditched it. However, this was after I passed their threshold of $100 to withdraw the money I made. This was nearly a year ago, I still have not received any money or responses aside from the generic e-mails. If you have similar problems file a complaint with BBB.
I have been using disqus for awhile and I made 846 comments. I find out today that on November 30,2019 that I'm banned. At least if your going to ban someone let them know the reason why pu$$ies!

Companies buy their service, dusaus controls your comments. I left negative remarks about trump and franklin graham on WND and Breitbart and got banned- and they screw with you. This is a bunch of twists in a call center sitting hind computers aligned with Zuckerberg. Dont click onto any sites that use discus - also check their corporate status on CORPORATION WIKI to see names of corporate officers. These guys are making a killing off you
If you don't mind having debates with people who delete your posts as spam, when you've made a point they can't dispute... You'll love it!
I'm only giving it a 1, because 0 isn't an option.
Have tried to reset my password for months. They never send an email with instructions to reset. Really wish the blog site I visit did not use this service it is absolutely horrible.
It's official. Disqus has been rendered completely useless on all of my favorite Conservative sites. It appears they have also become chess players in the Conservative Purge. They do not respect the freedom of speech for all anymore. Their entire mission statement is a complete lie. Therefore, since they want to be Anti-Conservative, I used my freedom of choice and my voice to delete my Disqus account, and I've actually blocked their domain from my neighborhood network, websites and even my personal computers. I am the administrator. I can do that! I'm currently still instructing everyone to switch to a more bipartisan SM engine and/or find other routes to communicate with their favorite sources. I hate to tell you guys this, but they (the Liberal Communist Left Wing Extremists) appear to have re-engaged in Jim Crow behavior and are forcing us deeper into the digital ghettos simply because they lost an election. It's unbelievable how evil they are. If I didn't know any better I'd say they're all possessed by demons.
I'I'm vegan. I'm a bicycle commuter, I support social causes... I don't use the word to describe myself usually, but for the purposes of this discussion, I guess I'm fairly liberal.
However, I did once say that I thought the article at abc was a little too harsh on Trump, so I was banned within minutes. I know it's just other users being petty, but it is also an ABC organization that allows that. Maybe to save money, but they really should consider not creating this environment.
I'm not going the route of creating another account and finding a way back in. The truth is, I'd rather spend my time on Strava, LinkedIn, slashdot, or basically anywhere that has a clue.
Ban people for breaking rules. Not for going contrary to your opinions. Look I'm not predicting disqus will fail... uhm sorry ABC you probably will, but for other reasons. These echo chambers are popular. They can just be popular without me, because I'd prefer another way, where people can treat each other with respect, and occasionally hear another opinion or two.
Discus quite often bans from their site anyone that has a conservative point of view whereas they allow liberals to say what ever they want without banning them
This site purports to support freedom of speech and yet if you say something that offends somebody they ban you from posting any comments.
What an absolute waste of time.
Not sure what the problem is, but on news sites anyways, Disqus can't seem to handle more than three people leaving comments at the same time. You can spend minutes trying to leave a brief comment; the page jumps all over the place; the comment won't show up; as you're typing, a word in the second half of a sentence will suddenly appear at the beginning of it... annoying as all get out. I could understand the inability of any platform to handle hundreds or even thousands of comments coming at the same time, but like I said - it happens when just a few are commenting.
Another issue involves "word policing" and "policy violation". Often, words that are seen in headlines and stories can't be used in comments. Often, comments that don't violate stated policy whatsoever will get deleted. Disqus claims that none of this is its fault, that site owners make the rules and do the moderation, yet site reps have told me that Disqus is in charge of those things, so I don't know who to believe. Heck, in one comment in this thread, someone praises Disqus because she and moderators can ban people, like it's her reason for living. At any rate, I don't recommend Disqus. Imagine trying to have a conversation with someone who acts distracted, keeps cutting you off, keeps interrupting, keeps telling you to wait, negates what you're saying, etc.? That person would be rude, and in this instance, that "person" is Disqus.
Horrible customer services for publishers as Disqus representatives refuse to address the 100% negative feedback from their implementation of the ugly and horrible "collapsed replies."
How does a commenting system justify implementing a feature that DISCOURAGES commenting interactions?
I do not have any special experience with Disqus. I somehow joined then a year of two ago and forgot about it. They are holding a half dozen of my comments and seem to be set up a little similar to Facebook-(a little manipulative): no way to really communicate with them, no way to really control the comments you leave scattered across the web, no way to search their own discussion forum, and although they seem to have a strong set of stated values, the way those values are executed is another matter.
I saw some indication that whoever is permitted to become a moderator, sometimes abuses the responsibility of that position, by arbitrarily injecting their personal prejudices into the discussions, or by banning someone from using the service, again somewhat arbitrarily. I, myself, have not experienced that, but perhaps I will put up a test balloon and see what happens.
We should all be bound by the same rules and standards, and if any group has an ax to grind, then they themselves should be called out. We are all in it together and need to use the 'golden rule' if we want cyberspace to be a decent 'neighborhood'. If we allow it to be a fractious pile of discord, we will harvest what we plant.
Tip for consumers:
They clearly state in their terms of service, they are "not responsible" for whatever happens to any personal data they hold on you. Is this the way we want companies to act? I think not.
DISQUS allows folks to ban others by calling the comments "Spam" without any way to refute them. I'd give it zero stars if allowed to do so. There has got to be better systems out there.
I have emailed the company directly and shown I am not a bot or spammer. However, they keep blocking my comments. Horrible company. Where is the FTC when you need them?
Disqus offers the best add-on tools for websites to increase engagement. We help publishers power online discussions with comments and earn revenue with native advertising.
