“I love Disqus so much I would marry it if it was physically possible to do so”

Joey M.

I love the fact that I can go on Disqus and not constantly be set upon by whiny trolls who constantly spew hate speech because I can just block their constant vitriol from my sight with the handy blocking feature! Not to mention that most of the moderators there are wonderful people who know and ban a troll immediately when they see one, thank god. You can even make your own forums for free! What more could you want?

“Against Freedom of Opinion”

Don't waste your time with Disqus. No matter how polite or benign a comment it is, their algorithms are designed to remove them. All opinions must agree with the algorithms. I only commented that I lived in a state where tornadoes are frequent, but I have never actually seen one, myself, and Disqus found this offensive.

Disqus has nonexistent customer service. They clearly do not care about their users. They do not have any known way to contact them; they do not respond to emails about problems you have with their commenting program.

Disqus insists on using google's reCaptcha mechanism which can literally block a user from ever accessing his or her Disqus account. Despite endless complaints, Disqus persists in using the extremely aggravating google Captcha device. They do not care how much chaos and trouble google's Captcha stuff causes the end-user.

Disqus also uses many cookies and stores them on your browsing equipment, some of the cookies actually store your comments, email, account details in unencrypted format. One has to wonder WHY they do this. They also store your typing in real time, whether you actually post the comment or not. WHY?

It's a shame Disqus is so heavy handed and irresponsible, because the Commenting System itself is very nice (when it works). It has many glitches that should've been fixed years ago, but have not. Nonetheless, the Disqus commenting system is one of the better ones, which is why people grit their teeth and put up with the aggravations. Wish Disqus CARED about its users and would fix the problems and get rid of google's Captcha!

There are a special place in hell for these people. I was having a problem with my school district; 03/02/2015 a teacher called my son a terrorist and the Superintendent Robert W Runcie did nothing about it and lied. Our story went international. Then I got a call from a friend that all my posts show as blocked as spam. It took me until 04/15/2015 trying to connect with these people. No luck, so I decided to search for their domain and anywhere I found a person name I would send them a communication. Finally I was able to locate "someone" on twitter and reach out to them and explained the situation and they unblocked me forward. But the damage was done.

I tried after that to still connect and find out why they did that? What did they use to decide that I was a spam when I was posting everything manually. I was told that the bottom of my posts what the reason for the block. Because it was always the same. It was the URL for my Facebook Community site.

Granted that the district never cared, but still my goal to reach people and educate them about Broward County, Florida never materialized as it should. I am sure that hurts many families not getting the truth because of "Disgusts".

Pass it around.

I tried all three OTHER logon options on Disqus as well as the logon for the actual Disqus account logon. The wretched WRETCHED Disqus wouldn't let me log on to comment on any of them. I WANTED to comment and am very frustrated. I think from now on I'll check if Disque is in charge of comments, on ANY web publication I plan to read, then delete the publication if they use Disqus. This program REALLY SUCKS! I wish I could give it less than a one-star!

Quite right, these other comments on this page. Disqus lures websites in, then runs a bait and switch program, automatically imposing censorship across the board. Quality commentary is shadow banned, antagonists are promoted. If you upset one person at one site, you are likely to see every single comment you've ever made anywhere on the net, retroactively removed. Text banning, thought police, deceiving posters, misrepresenting the product to webmasters, corporate nightmare disqus. The proliferation of Disqus on blogging boards is awful. If you love censorship, you'll love disqus. Disqus is disqusting. I'm tagging in a new IP address, but I won't be frequenting any sites which use Disgus anymore. Disqus seems to be the most unethical blog host I've ever seen. There is nothing more offensive than censorship. Now with extra bias, automation, and completely chaotic management tools. They'd have to give disqus away for free, and it won't be long before people won't even accept it. You can't sell censorship to intelligent adults, it's plainly stupid to promote censorship based on feelings and biased considerations. Disqus's quintessential mistake was to blur the line between automatic spammers, bots, and organized troll parties, and include regular individuals trying to make regular comments in the list of persons to be censored. What do you want to bet that if you were a powerful company, you could pay Disqus to auto censor commentary net-wide with key words related to your business? I'd bet you can. Thanks Disqus.

Disqus has TWO main purposes: censorship & data mining. Not surprising coming from an Amerikunt corporation. Did you know that the USSA is currently ranked 48th (that's right FORTY-EIGHTH!) on the World Press Freedom Index? A pox on Disqus-ting and a pox on the collapsing third world craphole known as the United States of American'ts.

They silence and censor the conservative point of view. They didn't like my name, "Corrupt Hillary" and the FACTS that I pointed out regarding her. They're based out of San Francisco.

Disqus censors anything that they think does not follow their narrative. It is hardly objective. Sites should stop using it and go to something else.

It's been fairly well covered about spam filtering and moderation being far too overbearing - this is all true; but you also have to look at the community you are bring along with a Disqus contract. Their whole platform is reader engagement, generating discussion, etc. This is generally difficult to do; they offer insight how to facilitate it, but, as far as I can tell, it doesn't work a great deal overall. So, those who own channels or sites start to implement these strategies with a great deal of force - and it will work, but it's done by inciting people to comment - to become upset and start spouting off. Users are encouraged to have a feed of channels going - but this diffuses across the board people who are ready to take the offensive or throw out some of the most caustic and outright offensive comments to even the most benign of comments. If you add Disqus, you will be introducing your regular user base to the most bitter and aggressive community I've ever encountered on the internet. Every comment posted is likely to generate a response, but it will be a brutal lashing out, not a discussion. This is just the end-product of hard to deliver promises being forced. To test this, I looked over the comments that site owners discuss with Disqus personnel issues they are having with their service. I merely repeated what the poster said, saying I was experiencing similar problems. Within minutes, I had a response where customer service looked up exact numbers on my account and posted what I had really experienced and deferred me to a site link of policy, further explaining how essentially I was wrong, even though only addressing one tiny bit of my posted concerns. I was completely neutral, yet, even by a representative of their company, I was offered the most abrasive response I could ever imagine from customer service... it was utterly bizarre. I will be closing my Disqus account soon; I will be unable to comment on sites using their service - not that I'd want to considering even one sentence will attract baseless attacks without regard to anything close to the content provided.

Several years ago, I enjoyed debating on Disqus, but it gradually deteriorated when more and more whiney snowflakes (who couldn't stand to lose a debate and just wanted to jab at people) and liberals joined.
They started increasing moderators with political agendas vs monitoring for TOS violations/ cyberbullying. I often got flagged for a conservative idea, but the liberal cussing me out, did not.
Now they have created tons of little "safe spaces" developed by the users, for you to go in and talk about rainbows and unicorns, favorite cartoon characters, etc. with people who SHARE your views. That way no one gets their feelings hurt, because we know that the real world completely works that way... And so, our snowflake problem continues until we end up in a bloody blizzard!
They still have some news feeds, but nowhere near the amount that they started. It's a total joke and a waste of time. It's a social networking site for blogging nerds, who need to hear their ideas validated by others.
I like to "discuss" and intelligently debate ideas. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong. I can handle adult conversation, but I don't like being censored for my ideas. So, I no longer waste my time.

Like many I decided to speak my mind on a particular discussion, then I get a death threat based on my comment, so I do what any sane person would do and report them, yet their comment still stays up, but when I want to speak my mind and my opinion gets deleted by someone who disagrees is perfectly OK but that of death threat isn't considered bad?

Really an unsafe place to have your own opinion and I do have photo evidence of this death threat them saying if they had the power they WILL eradicate me and others, or that they would vote with other people to put me in a gas chamber.

I report them yet their comment still stays up but mine have to be taken down just because of my political views and because I am not a Trump supporter at that, to which I find very stupid for a comment to be taken down when the discussion specifically asked

TRUMP OR BERNIE?

And I find it disturbing that Disqus, a place where they say no violence, and no harassment is allowed, would allow someone to get away with threatening the life of a person, but will take down my comments or banned me and say I'm a spam account just for speaking my mind.

But someone supporting, and condoning murder is A-OK in their books

Thanks the whole safety policy they have doesn't matter to them and they'll let someone get away with that

You really don't even deserve a star for allowing this to happen, but I have to put it down or my review wont be sent

DON'T USE DISQUS THEY ALLOW DEATH THREATS INTO THEIR NO HARASSMENT, AND NO THREATS POLICY just like schools that let bullies get away with harrassing a young student
